  1. Yep agreed, however I thought the point of the thread was to open the field of play, not just to say, meh, they are over 10 years old so there is no point looking at them, otherwise it’s a thread saying I would like to buy a new yammy 5 string PJ, is that ok with everyone?! Things like Peary, Vigier, or T bird, or Steniberger that have the pickups at about the sweet spot, will give you a neck through with a near P bass sound, so maybe don’t limit the search to split coils in the neck, but if you want a P bass sound, you need a P bass, and the P bass is a bolt on be it 3 bolts, micro tilts, 6 bolts etc. Accessible rod, neck off for truss adjustments etc. Some of the modern made basses are doing that as a retro thing like the Olinto P bass by Mas Hino (its beautiful BTW) to stay true to the origins. But like AC/DC you like a fat bottomed girl (Bass I am talking) and that bulbous Yammy BBP girl will be yours
  2. @Al Krow you are not mis quoting me again are you, or changing what I said......
  3. Just because they are not in production, does not mean they are nor in circulation, but it’s whatever floats your boat
  4. Back on topic Peavey Unity Peavey Dyna bass Peavey Sarzo Pedulla Rapture most Alembics If you are not stuck on a split coil then there are loads like Vigier, Gibson thunderbirds, Steinberger etc Someone else’s turn to burp the baby
  5. Awesome she has a BF, is it way better than your Vanderkley? To Quote Bas those that get bespoke basses are posh rock stars with more money than sense, and the re sale value is no good. Apparently Basses are just for Xmas...... i May need to hold onto that quote, Bas has never been one to go back on an opinion...
  6. Bas, don’t you normally play bass? How come you are singing in this one? Have you got someone who is so terrible looking they have to wear shades playing bass in your place?
  7. @Osiris is @Al Krow talking about Candy Slam!??!
  8. I would say bring your singer, but I reckon it would get me in trouble with the Mrs...... ooooo I could Dep on a track, then that could count as my regular gig.....
  9. Fender Cabronita P bass has a baseball bat neck, but it’s nice to play. if a G&L neck heel fits the bass body for for a #6 neck, again this is a biggun but very comfortable to play, more so than their #12 which was slimmer and supposed to be their PJ
  10. @Al Krow i’m not over 40 yet buddy, you do have me on that old chap, but the bass does go with your shades, just the shades don’t go with you! i love a shaped bass me
  11. @dannybuoy our mate @Al Krow reckons they don’t nail a P sound. Maybe a nailed on P sound means a bolt on neck..........
  12. @Al Krow do you ever do your own searches...?! BC Rich Mockingbird - now that definitely is not a boring Fender P shape bass that you hate
  13. This is worth a look mate You can chose between silicone and Germanium clipping stages
  14. Aside from other suggestions Ulyate pick ups Hauessel pick ups Joe Barden These are all great ones to have a listen to and try
  15. I had the full cabronita, pick up is not ‘rubbish’ (although it is of course subjective) but it is quiet and a lower output. if you really drive it with a Preamp you will get a good sound. Failing that it’s a rout, but you will be spending the cost of the bass to get it up to spec
  16. Aside from what people have said, and the obvious get a P bass, you may get closer with a pick up change. Delano’s are quite HiFi sounding. Sandberg’s own pups are more vintage, Haüssel which they also use have more oomph and more mid range push. Ulyate pick ups, Joe Barden or Lindy Fralin’s are 3 other great makes aside from the usual bandits which may give you what you need. Dropping them in is a darn site better than routing a bass. if you like Sandberg’s (and I do) then look out for a passive VS4, great bass
  17. @thegummyon sweetwater in the US they are retailing at about $1100. I haven’t found any info on their proprietary pick ups yet
  18. I completely agree with you in that. has anyone else got some knowledge on the Schecter range? I think my 90s rock fetish would be satiated with these easily
  19. Guys, just seen these and they will be out at NAMM i think 4 string, 4 string baritone (35” scale) and a 5er, wither new J Bucker pick ups. Rumour on the streets is Schecter have invested heavily of late to get back up to speed. personally I think they look badass! http://www.schecterguitars.com/bass/2018-1
  20. Can’t say much more than has been said. One of my girls has been through the mill, different condition, but serious illness, it’s tough, but having family around, especially other kids helps, they definitely take your mind off things! kids are pretty resilient so the very best to you all
  21. My V Moda’s are good ear phones for listening to music and as they are bass heavy in design they do a good job for practice
  22. In love me a relic, it still looks good
  23. Yep, seen em 3 times, If you have never seen them, its a great show
