  1. BTW the switches represent 2 clipping stages in the circuit either silicone, Germanium or no clipping and you select what you want in conjunction with knob twiddling
  2. Proper demo of the actual pedal, shame there was not more time spent at low drive, it’s oretty good and the bottom end stays
  3. New demo on The Parvati Fuzz/OD pedal, may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it does a bloody good job, and even this demo does not cover the potential subtly of it at lower drive, plus the low end stays pretty well
  4. @ped please don’t get him started on compression, i’ll Have kittens again, and not Atomic ones
  5. And you know that if you have an active bass, engage the active Preamp and you can plug headphones straight into the jack. you could then run headphones out your MP3 player into one ear, bass into another, or in ears into the player and over ear can headphones into the bass overlaying them and you have the cheapest system ever as I would say most people have at least 2 Sets of earphones lying round the house
  6. I nearly got one for my small combo as well, but ultimately went with a PJB Bass cub. Very portable, aux in, DI out, EQ section.......
  7. @Tonteee don’t run away, you are speaking sense like me, maybe Bas will listen if someone else apart from his halfwit friend says something!
  8. If it’s just a DI you need and you have everything else, is it controversial to say, just get a DI.... i doubt you’ll need an aux in and headphones out for rehearsal
  9. @nightsun you have no idea how good a solution that is........ @Al Krow remind me, have you got one of those...?
  10. The OP said Headphone amp mate, not a pre-amp with headphone capabilities, there is a difference. DG M500 is a pre amp with an EQ and DI out and Headphone out , unfortunately no aux in, and it also has a power amp attached, but you wouldn’t buy any DG products though would you........
  11. Grabbing posts between working, so it’s my fault. what my first post should have said is pretty much what we have come to. A straight up P with no other routing will sound different to the same P which has had routing, does not mean it won’t sound like a P, just different, not better or worse. similar to the fact that a P sound is not exclusive to a Fender bass, Yammy, Sandberg etc all give great P sounds, if you get my drift. So in essence to my mind and ears the P pup solo’d On a PJ or a PM config will not sound like a P alone, but it will still sound like a P if that makes sense!
  12. @wateroftyne yep point taken, but if you took a P bass and then routed a hole in the J position and anything else for wires, and put nothing in it, And changed nothing else, I am not sure it would sound the same. i am quite happy to be wrong though
  13. @Lozz196 Sandberg do excellent worn looks in black! personally regardless of the split coil placement I do not think you will ever get a PJ to fully sound like a P, even with the J dialled back. there has been a bit of wood removed, no matter how small to accommodate it. The resonance of the bass and the P sound will be altered. Doesn’t mean it’s bad, just different
  14. DI gives you a line level signal for a PA to use. You would need to figure out how much of a dB boost you will need to keep up with whatever else is through the PA. So the decision is do you need a Headphone amp (which will have a small boost potentially, could be about 12db for example). This is unlikely to have a big boost as it’s just for powering headphones and having a method to play along with tracks OR Do you want a Pre-amp which you can use for headphone practice and DI out with plus or minus an aux in. Once you have that set, then the options become more obvious and narrowed down
  15. @Al Krow so the game changes, and to my mind the goal posts change unless I am reading it correctly. you say you want something to put in your pocket to go to rehearsals, but you also said you wanted it to live on your board as you talk about real estate etc. how much function do you actually want? is it purely to plug headphones in, EQ capabilities etc. I know you hate the Ampeg and it’s circuit, but you want a small box with a DI, it has it and an EQ. If you did some extra research you would know that the Cafe Walter headphone practice amp is about one of the best on the market, it’s just a few extra words to type into google..... if you really want a DI is as well and a stand alone box with capabilities them look at the Radial Bassbone OD. you can also plug Direct into a xenys502 mixer which also you can DI out and it has an Aux in. you can just plug your bass straight into the PA mate and have nothing, nowt to carry.
  16. FYI if you get GHS boomers, great to start, but die quickly. i never got on with Ernie Ball Hybrids or slinky’s I really like DR DDTs you can use them in normal tuning obviously, expensive at about £35 a set, but I love them! I am sure others may chime in, but have a good look around
  17. Ampeg SCR DI Cafe Walter Tascam Pandora iRig to add to others mentioned above
  18. Welcome to the Supertwin family Love mine
  19. A very simple and cheap idea would be to change strings. what do you currently use? just this simple change will give a different flavour without twiddling a knob at all. other option is to change your tuning as a band, if you play in normal and all down tune that also can give a different but subtle sound change
  20. In the old models I think you are right, they are sized differently, bigger I think. The new BBP range is normal size. i think you could get a custom pickguard to cover any ills and make it look swish?
  21. Road to enlightenment, it’s what you personally like. glad to see you working through all angles, you’ll defo get the best out of all your cool equipment
  22. @Al Krow why do you have to adjust crossover points for each pedal? is it impossible to dial in a sound of each pedal leaving the cab dial in a fixed position? tweeters eh.....?! will you still like the drive sound next year ?
  23. @dannybuoy I think you’ll find @Al Krow is not allowed to use the microtubes engine on principle, or it will represent as big a turnaround as Jeremy Corbyn announcing a switch to UKIP or for Donald Trump to drop social media and actually behave like a world leader instead of a teenager full of Haribo and E numbers
