1.
Personally I think I'll just pick up a couple of heavy old 80s Peavey cabs and re-cover them in carbon fibre effect tolex to achieve the same effect. Should be able to get a nice pair of 410s they way for a couple of hundred quid with change.
Dont forget a spray can for the space age grill effect and some glitter, and then fairy dust for the crossover circuit

So that video is a super midget and a big baby...?
3. Brilliant and congrats on this, that amp has a lovely Cab to be paired with. No doubt it will be a winning combination. Look forward to loud sound review
4. Cameron I rather like that analogy, nicely put. He has taken the time to eloquently put down a lot of feelings, which are justified and done it better than I did. The amp we know and we can comment on. The AO pedal, do a big one and then do a small one just after everyone has bought a big one..........hmmmm The speakers, everyone has said that they would eat humble pie IF it blows similarly specd cabs out the park. We all recognise there is a business behind things and no one is wishing DG falls flat on its face, but there is legitimacy behind what we say as consumers, because of there is a slow incremental hike across the board then we are the ones getting hammered
5. Nah its not moaning, it’s realistic. Price point aside, you release 1 amp, it drops in price new in the first year, you then release a second amp with less juice at the same price practically as the original and hike the price of the old amp back up? That’s a bit naughty
6. I found TI flats a bit floppy, if you do get some careful tensioning them as you fit them in the bass, I snapped the internal core of one doing this - doh! I used Labella Deep talking bass black tape wounds, quite liked them. Friend of mine really swears by the Labella White tape wounds, I trust him. I’ve gone off GHS, had boomers nice to start, die pretty quick
7. Had an MXR and Darkglass SS Now settled and happy with a Massive Cali76G, I would love to get hold of a Cali76 TX-L, but that Effectrode looks mighty fine. For me tho, the Cali76G is sublime
8. Welcome to the endless world of pedal fiddling and the real fun is now you are close to getting a nailed tone with the Two Notes, how can drive before your myriad of envelope filters work!
9. Well as you know Mr Krow I have a Hartke VXL and Cali76G before the Two Notes, so yes I am punching a lot into it from my passive basses. Works well having everything on with a jazz bass, less so with my P bass, I chose one or t’other either side of the Cali76G
10. That’s the spirit, can’t wait to hear, i am a big two Notes fan
11. Danny - you have quicker fingers than me! That’s why I use a pick.....
12. Al I think Alex is saying if you want that type of sound described then the BB2 with its 12” speaker provides that sonically. If you want a coloured sound that the BF 2x10 produces then get a 2x10 or a modular One10 or any combination etc. I think it’s a situation of, forget speaker cone size, just take the sound and air it pushes on its merit and that is the right one for you, from a starting position of what “type” of sound you like. That’s my interpretation, happy to be wrong....
13. Don’t I do unless I need a DI and I have a Two Notes last
14.
I've seen Glenn a few times now (once with a Vigier through a Hughes & Kettner rig and the other times a Jazz through an SVT) and his sound has always been great. The sound of this Orange rig just seems to have a magical something extra to my ears though.
Couldn’t agree more, he is defo getting better with age and what a voice to boot
15. Painy- I heard that rig live when Glenn was on tour, end even with his crappy bitsa Nash bass it sounded absolutely immense. If you like that sound in the videos you will love it live, seeing him play and listening to him changed a lot of my thoughts on sound and gear etc (I don’t have orange stuff myself BTW) and was a real changer for me. Hope you get to your goal
16. I have a Hartke HD25 also, and It is pretty decent, I am sure upping the wattage will get you loud enough, and they are comparative peanuts in price
17. Ok. I may be wrong in my thinking but run the B channel alone on the Two Notes and send your clean signal through another path to blend them at the final destination? So it’s still a split signal but not relying on the Two Notes doing it for you I may have my channels crossed tho....
18. Do you reckon you could get close with your Two Notes? I am watching eagerly for myself as i May experiment...
19. PJB bass cub Love mine, decent sound coming out and for recording a very good DI out. It’s got 2 instrument inputs, one could be for a Microphone and an aux in What more do you need?!
20. I’ve owned an M900, B7K,VMT and an SS, all good, not for me, I didn’t mind the second hand price point. I think they are of a decent quality, but the sound was not for me. The key in this is the price point. The 500w amp is £50 less than the 900w amp new, albeit with a better functioning DI and a headphone jack (no aux input). Looking at Apple whatever the price start point each incremental jump in price significantly changes the screen size or memory capacity, but the base model is a few hundred below the top model. Would you expect to pay roughly the same price for a 1 litre car compared to a 2litre turbocharged vehicle? I think there needs to be a differential between products and not just re-hiking the M900 price back up again. Regarding cabinet price, we may all eat our hats and it may completely blow everything out the water at the same price range, if it does, it is worth the cost, but where it has set itself it almost has to. I may be wrong, I am not a commercial success at anything, but more than anything I think the ire generated is about these things like or loathe the sound
21. Creation Audio mk4.23 24db Of clean boost - best on the market
22.
+1000!! Cuzzie has been egging me on (indeed from the very start of this thread) to share my views on DG and I've been (for once!) attempting to hold back on telling it like I see it. But when Bill, who knows FAR more about cabs than most of us do, confirms what I've been thinking for a while, well ok...So here are my views with both barrels on DG gear generally: Over priced, over hyped and last year's sound. Pointless speakers? Well actually once the short lived buzz about the transient metal sound has fizzled out, IMHO A pointless product range. There I've said it...
Al, you held your opinion back a bit, but we may just get the message.....
23. Definitely part of mine. I wanted a dUg amp, decided it was too much, but bought an expensive amp anyway and by the time I buy the pedal i’d Have spent the same amount! What a silly billy! But loads of fun!
24. Aww shucks Joe, thanks for engaging with us and helping us all learn as well, like the idea of fiddling with the innards! You have a piece of history there, glad you can keep it!
