New Pre-Amp day - Tech21NYC Sansamp GED2112 (from FX Pedal Rental)
Cuzzie replied to NancyJohnson's topic in Amps and Cabs
Good to hear, looked at this, but I am not a rackmount guy. Hate/proud to tell you but a dUg pre amp pedal is in production it’ll have a tuner, mute, compressor and dUg sound with fixed crossover points for the distortion circuit so not as tweakable as the amp by any means, and it should be out within the year. His will fit lovely in the FX loop of my Form Factor Audio BI1000 amp with other pedals going in the front Just have both! -
Across the water in USA on TB there is a bit more support, but price wise they get a better deal, for example the amp is $799 which works out as £600
-
Here I go again....... The cabs are made in the UK 410 is $1399 in US and £1295 at Andertons looking at a conversion rate why is it pro rata £250 cheaper in the US considering they are made on these shores..... I’m not knocking the product, I have not heard enough and they may be worth the money, but....:

£10 per 40 Watts Bargain
-
Surely the big winners here are the UK can manufacturer that’s doing it. Any scoop on who?
-
I think you are both probably right Think I am turning into a grumpy old git.......no more moaning, DG do quality products like em or not like em, that can never be disputed
-
Kev and Dannybuoy, totally get your point, if your dirt sound is always on then of course not, but if you are on and off for songs it should be accessible like a stomp box IMO, as this is what it is replacing or adding to, you wouldn’t buy a pedal you had to Push instead of kicking a button, if it’s mid song, then you are a bit done having to walk to the amp and push a tiny button, or you are forced into buying the footswitch, which comes as standard for the other amp.
-
UK builder was a direct quote for Doug himself on a video interview I saw on instagram
-
My interpretation in the website is no footswitch at all included Footswitch The Footswitch jack allows you to remotely engage and disengage the Microtubes Engine via our Intelligent Footswitch (sold separately). Hold the footswitch to Mute the amplifier. The VMT/B3K push button will remain operational with the Intelligent Footswitch plugged in. * Use a regular mono instrument cable to connect the amplifier to the footswitch. * Remove the cable from the footswitch jack in the rear panel if you want to control the amp from the front panel. * The Microtubes 500 will only work with our proprietary Intelligent Footswitch or Super Intelligent Footswitch (both sold separately). A generic Footswitch will not work with the Microtubes 500. That is naughty....

Yep I missed that about the mids But still add in a footswitch and the price is rising.....

Bigwan I think you are right, but if you can do it and people buy into it, why not?! I too had an M900 head, clean circuit s very good and intuitive, I see they have taken away the frequency selection points for the 500, it is a real shame that they do not push the clean as much as they do the dirt so people know. The whole marketing campaign aid 4 announcements for September, shock horror, it’s a mini version of a pedal less than a year old, 2 Cabs (I would put cabs as 1) and a 500w head which new is more expensive than a second hand 900 which you can flip a switch to attenuate anddecrease the wattage from 900 and soncoild use with a One10 anyway. Only addition is the headphone jack and a DI unaffected by master volume Also in true Apple fashion, extras are optional and have to be purchased such as the footswitch, that’s a bit naughty
Each to their own, but I'm not entirely sure of the reason to change the pick up to an aftermarket copy - the USA Sub has the same basic pick up and electronics in use in Stingrays from the beginning of time (or 1979 in the case of the EQ as there were several revisions prior to that). The people making the best Musicman style bass are, of course, Musicman!! There are lots of different types though, and different neck dimensions and finishes - just a case of finding the model which fits personal preference. I have a USA Sub 5 and whilst it's a very cool bass in its own right, it's not a patch on my Stingray 5 - which has a great deal more versatility owing to the 3 band EQ, and series/parallel/single coil selection available - and gorgeous natural gloss finish.
Yep, point well made, nothing against the stock pups, just highlighting potential variety for the OP if it was a good feeling bass, but maybe no quite right sounding for them

So the worst kept secret is out They have released 2 cabs 210 handling 500w, 54lbs in weight about $999 410 handling 1000w, 85lbs in weight about $1399 Cross over point is 2.8 kHz to use with their distortion, Baltic Birch wood and eminence drivers They have also released a 500w head at $799. This has a headphone out and the DI is not affected by the master volume, otherwise it’s the same as it brother, but smaller. That along with the Alpha Omicron is the new range. Not entirely unpredictable, but if you like it the head seems a good idea, and I reckon Gen 2 of the 900 will include some features of this one. I’m going to ask the questions Al Krow wants to ask....... Good additions to the market place? Does this cement the range? Is it a natural evolution for DG, or is it treading water and consolidating and plateauing in the market for just the ‘metal’ and distortion sound?
-
Someone actually reads my posts!!! Be interesting to see what they announce, I think we can guess what they will sound like, but there should be a few more things announced, they said there will be something else too
-
-
+1 for a USA SUB and then put a Nordstrand MM pick up in it. It will be classic sounding
-
Kev, I had a chat with the OP. He has the voltage right, I sent him my settings as well, hopefully he’ll keep it. Don’t want to answer for him though....
-
Vanderkley are better than Barefaced cabs, right?!

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.talkbass.com/threads/barefaced-super-twin-vs-glockenklang-double.1270147/%3famp=1487848988 Different view point saying no lack of mids......plus some other opinions. Ask a hundred bass players, get a hundred answers....! -
Yeah I know, but I am very glad your happy, not just for you but for me in snagging your old shoe box sized pedal
-
Congrats Dannybuoy, well done. Still happy with my Supertwin but the 210 has been on my radar for a while....
-
You know I am pulling your leg Al, but in all seriousness by all means start with the conventional and then move the pedals around, it’s easier to have them not Velcro attached to the board and do it
-
Al, don’t get sucked into the classic pedal positions, really experiment. I know I said to you that an octave AFTER the Manta does some awesome things especially if you can add in an expression pedal, and you can set your octave for up or down. Dirt before a filter will definitely drive it and give your opening of the envelope a spark and a different flavour, but you may find a different order for your tastes, it’s like the compression at the start or end of chain debate. Remember you are soon to have 2 filter pedals so you can stack the filters if you get the right setting in the Manta. One of the ones the Manta will get you sounds very much like a talkbox. If I were you I would get another octave pedal and then you can have one before a filter and then one after a filter then it makes it easy! No hard and fasts here, chop and change em around
-
It’s a bit annoying, technique is not for me, but Ian not a hater. We can all universally agree that the best vids show pick, finger and slap. Probably why Ed Friedland vids are good. Also I wouldn’t want noodle let’s see how fast a jazz run I can do vids. You need a good solid groove to let the Notes ring and hear the tone

Now now Krispn, you know you miss the 76G, despite the CB and the Hudson Broadcaster in tandem. Keep the big box! If you get some hiss get a decimator!
