  1. And Twelve Trees is Thirty Six, or a half decent rugby player
  2. The name attracted me to it as well - have I popped another thing on your radar! They do a preamp of it as well - it’s just brutal
  3. I would love that - can we add a Verellen Meatsmoke for good measure in a parallel path
  4. I endorse that and generally run the volume on about 80% as your max. On the L1500 you had to mod the capacitors to make it useable, on pretty much every setting before this it’s like fingernails on a blackboard
  5. The 82-83 Squiers are rightly held good regard, but mainly because they were better than the rubbish coming out of USA - prices nearer the £7-800 mark is a better reflection depending on condition, mods etc. Yep - newer basses are likely to be more consistent than some of the ancient ones. The Rick I would have would be the Al Cisneros - it looks and sounds Amazing
  6. That was brilliant - thanks for that. I don’t know if they do or they missed it out, but if you add A Plek machine to the step, that’s more time and man hours on that process. Do you know do Cort only do Cort, or does the factory also do other makes as happens elsewhere
  7. Believe me There is more than 3 hours work
  8. Totally - I dunno if they cost more, maybe there is some fairy dust sprinkled in, rare factor will be a thing
  9. I can only speak for Sandberg, but it’s likely to be a lot of CNC unless they state otherwise. All guitars are then hand finished to the same raw level, but you are correct it then comes down to man hours on the finish - a masterpiece involves the thermal and vibration treatment and then the time taken to create the finish which only a couple guys do - Sandberg is a small operation with a critical mass of approx 26 employees I think - big enough to churn out stuff, small enough to ensure a family feel and QC The most bang for buck finish unless they upcharge is high gloss compared to matt as that takes so much more time to achieve
  10. Bass making at Rickenbacker, Sandberg, Custom shop etc levels is skilled Labour. How much would you pay for a plumber for a week for example? If it’s a weeks work, subtract that cost, then subtract materials, then built in wear and tear to tools, consumables, electricity bills, property rent/mortgage - then a wage for admin non luthier staff - then we should allow profit. Its not that bad in a lot of ways....
  11. I know it’s only an opinion, knickers won’t get twisted, but you did also say that they who play a relic’d bass want to give the impression they are seasoned pro’s or something they are not, when they don’t.
  12. Tie Dye probably start off plain white and is then coloured - so it’s a finish - you may want a replica Teddy to protect the original Teddy - Turdburst and tort is still the spawn of Satan-but it’s just a finish, no pretences of patina or grandeur, it’s just a finish
  13. Stone wash jeans, Tie dye shirts, ripped jeans, distressed caps, shabby chic furniture, your old teddy with an ear hanging off and an eye missing you still like the look of, sandblast to buildings, turdburst and tort which is spawn of the devil, gold hardware - all just finishes and bits - I am pretty sure that only people that think that someone thinks they are a seasoned pro are people from the outside who don’t like the finish-I don’t look at someone with a pristine guitar and think newbie, OCD, doesn’t get out enough, he/she must gig a new guitar every week etc. bit what @Doctor J resonates-I can’t put a guitar together from scratch for anything like the HB price even without not paying myself
  14. Not meant to be negative, I may have remembered incorrectly but I thought I thought some posts on here expressed doubt for their own enjoyment doing a gig where there is no singing/dancing, sparsely filled pubs etc. It’s not balking per se, but some like the excitement and vibe of a bustling full room be it sport or music, others don’t mind, and of course now there is the worry of drunk people not just spilling stuff and knocking your equipment, but also losing their sense of space, getting in your grill, and we still are living with COVID and that risk of transmission - it is unlikely that everyone would have had their vaccination by then. Its great restrictions are lifted, but that is the crux of the question
  15. Slightly strange response, not sure where that one is going, was just asking peoples feelings on the matter, but if you want to do your band out of a gig,i am sure i can do my best Richard Van Dyke Mary Poppins act at the wedding you have booked for a lesser fee with new material
  16. Tuning to bag pipes is very interesting, they are about a 1/4 step of standard tuning and change as they go from cool to warm - great fun to play with tho
  17. Haha - not concerned for you - the glass is always half full👊🏾 The only thing it says is 30 17th May - and yes from June 21st possibly no restrictions but ‘governed by the data and science......’ Purely genuine question - for some it’s a job and a main revenue stream, some a well needed bonus, others a nice to have - on past experience how have empty vs full gigs felt - for the purpose of this we all gave it the beans no matter if it’s 1 or 1000 - just interested
  18. People doing weddings/functions etc - obviously the initial buzz of playing will be great, but if you are used to 100 guests will it feel ‘empty’ as in less excitement when its only 30 allowed?
