  1. It’s a great instrument with fantastic build quality and I actually like the G&L headstock that some don’t - The SB-1 is slightly less in your face compared to the ‘M’ style pick ups they do - it just genuinely takes a different tinker and EQ to your ‘usual’ non MFD pick up
  2. But with those MFD pick ups he rotated the magnet, steel poles, made them more powerful and the whole sound is more shrill as well as moore chutzpah because he was compensating for hearing loss and especially high end hearing loss
  3. That was amazing - keep banging on about compression
  4. Move out of London - it’s naughty in the sticks
  5. Yeah - mine is just really as a travel option/noodle in the bedroom type thing
  6. Mine was caught as it was thrown in the audience and was nicely mashed up from use - I rose like a salmon
  7. Don’t disagree at all - what’s telling is looking at ‘The Pro’s’ they will often use keys recording and live for certain parts/songs where synth is required. I know Krow is a Dua Lipa future nostalgia fan, classic case is the Dont Start Now song where the bassist flips between the 2.
  8. That man @JohnDaBass put it far more eloquently than I could ever do. My 51 being the Seymour Duncan Custom shop hot stack has a 29.8k output which is ludicrously hot. As a result I feel I can only play it with Flats and TI ones, and I normally play with a pick, but even with rounds the pick didn’t sound right. It a finger root note kind of bass, with great clarity, but I have a Tonestyler bass ten with it in position 4-6 back from open and I have to dial the bass back on my amp waaaaay more than others. I also cannot stack pre-amps like I normally do - this is a bass - compressor - amp pick up/bass. Good luck!
  9. Agreed - it’s why I am desperately holding onto my iPhone 6 and older ipad
  10. If you can find a comparison of the Nathan East pedal and a ‘normal’ bass vs the NNE2 - it may give you an idea of if it makes much difference and also if there is a market for it should be my thoughts
  11. Plus I already had a Scarlett 18i8 so was covered on a bigger scale
  12. So for me it goes into the lightning port of the iPad and I use the 3.5mm Jack out to hear everything - worked in my circumstance
  13. I use it for silent practice as you can run GB in the background and play along to any music etc
  14. Massively - if you only need 1 input it’s the easiest thing ever and is tiny
  15. That or the iTrack One Pre - I was lucky and they did a flash sale a while ago and I got it for £20
  16. If it goes ahead i am seeing them in July - will let you know if th dancing has gotten more in time
  17. I do have a pick from our very own @12stringbassist
  18. Fishbone drummer - which says fish sticks with their band logo - it’s great - about 30 years old now
  19. There is no doubt you will pick a fault somewhere - when I move a pick up knobs and a jack between basses, there is a difference. If I change the neck on the bass between wood and graphite, there is a difference all else being the same. No doubt you’ll trot out I’d have screwed it differently or the strings are 3 hours older and been restrung so they sound different blah blah blah..... There will be a a difference between species, within each species there will be a difference depending on growing conditions etc. How they piece together you are correct is another variable. It’s a spectrum with overlap. It’s 2 separate questions being merged for the sake of point proving. Is there a difference - yes, even the most ardent would not disagree - this is an absolute Does it make a noticeable difference - possibly but not to everyone. Does it play and sound how you like - if it’s no, is that because it’s rubbish or because there is a certain combination of things/tonewoods that you consistently don’t like - if that’s the case then it does make a difference
