  1. Not a virologist, may have studied a little of it, but am a medic - hence trying to keep it fairly simple (no offence meant) and i am also a fairly simple chap
  2. OK - i am sure you have it, but just as a 101 for people....... Clicking this helps you set up basic stuff on the track as you can see Tapping the plus button ads another track and you can chose what, if inserting music, i suggest the studio clean one, no effects Swipe to the right it gives you the chance to monitor and which one to record In the settings and advanced settings you can also select multi track recording select The loop - you can add drum loops and apple loops etc. But select your files tab and whatever is on your device you can browse - here you see it likes m4a and mp3, not aac weirdly (this is an ipad) Drag it into a track line and chop and match to zero or wherever you want it to start bingo - play and record alongside a track Hope his helps
  3. Combination of all of the above mentioned - novel virus, its behaviour is strange with a cytokine (inflammatory) storm which upsets the delicate balance of the body, learning how best to treat it. Viruses in general want to live with us, the more evil virus kills the host and dies with it, mutations will happen, and what we want is a slightly naughty virus that eventually behaves like flu, but we have the means to treat each variant of illness a person gets the correct way and quickly to prevent preventable death and long term symptoms-that will take a while whilst Mother Nature and we sort it out. It’s unprecedented times especially with massive media presence and a culture where we behave like verruca salt and want everything now. When this first came out everyone was saying how bad the lockdown period of a couple of months is (it is BTW for mental health etc.) Tom Jones, who always has a story said basically, its tough, but i had to shield for 2 years with TB as a child in my village - its not far off that now
  4. Have to walk the dog, but i do it not infrequently- I’ll check again in a bit and give you a nudge if you haven’t done it already. to import tracks i usually have them saved on the device and just import as an mp3 with a right click (effectively) and make sure you set the tempo to the same as the recording tempo if you want any formal control and pass it back and forth between people
  5. It’s not purely about size - having people ventilated face down has been seen to help - so to turn a patient 180 who is ventilated - someone controls the breathing tube so that doesn’t fall out, someone to control the head and neck, trunk, limbs, lines of drugs going in which will be multiple so they don’t pull out, change the sheets as the roll around and share the weight evenly amongst people so they do not get injured as it will happen multiple times. Average male is 70-75kg - rig up a 6ft sandbag/guy in human form at this weight and you will see how it is!
  6. Whenever i do a new track i normally just use voice or instrument, go to producer effects/fun - have it on clean - then you can use anything external you already have. Actually the tube amp isn’t too bad as re other effects in there for a bit of a mess around. Lemme set one up from scratch again and see how i managed it - but i am pretty sure its monitoring for both tracks has to be selected Also tap this icon Make sure you have the settings correct for each track
  7. Tony - 2 things that may help GO to settings and advanced and click run app in the background - you can then play when say listening to a track in Spotify or whatever or when not directly in the app. I am pretty sure you can listen and play whilst the track is playing but not recording, but when you add a second track into the stream you have to make sure monitoring is available for both
  8. This is the key - its not just Covid, its the knock on - some places cancer care is stopped. People with tumours that need big operations and an ITU/HDU bed cannot get it because beds are being taken up, and a shortage of nursing staff looking after lots of people across the board be it wards, doing vaccinations whatever etc. Routine operations cancelled - Mr/Mrs Miggins with a dodgy hip/knee cannot get it replaced, falls over, breaks a hip,now needs emergency surgery, gets it hopefully does not contract Covid, DVT etc in hospital (but it is a risk) and leaves in a worse position that with elective surgery and life is impacted for them. People with eminently treatable conditions sitting on them because of fear of going to hospital - end up worse. This generation of children have had a hammer to their education (my children have essentially had no effective school for a year now and rising) how are their prospects moving forward? Maybe they wanted to do nursing but miss out on the grades due to this and henceforth less nurses to care for people and we are already stretched - It’s endless potentially, but i still maintain hope
  9. If you look at the demographics - we know Flu can kill across the range, but in general adversely affects a younger population, we know COVID adversely affects an older generation with the average death age being our 80year olds - probably more with co existing co morbidities as well as race, but flu will also affect these people (possibly not race as much). We are starting to get a spread across avast rage of the population - habits, hygiene etc will have to change across the board
  10. In some respects that is the goal, but as a result of a vaccination programme - but you have to consider that Flu kills in flu season, then if we have Covid flu as well, thats an additional burden on the system - they are 2 different entities, then there is a possibility of catching them simultaneously or sequentially. Habits will probably have to change
  11. I’ll always associate Trace Elliot with Doug Wimbish - pretty sure he is still using them
  12. Speakon is a better method - get some connectors, cut the jack off, garden secateurs are best for a clean cut, isolate the wires, hook it up, job done 5 min job
  13. The point being made is that the test and trace system was ballsed up, the vaccine system, the vaccination system has already been altered not for clinical effectiveness as shown by elongation of the timeframe and stopping vaccinations for a race meet. 128 days you say is an educated guess, but what are the resources used to make the educated guess, that was the question asked?
  14. Someone’s popped a bet on June the 1st instead of May 31st for gigs and increased their odds
  15. Self respect went out the window ages ago when I started hanging round with the likes of you guys on forums - at least now my voice matches my face for radio
  16. I think I did try to write if I remember correctly, but my thumbs are like spring rolls and hence on the clumsy side
  17. There are rhymes galore, if more Trav comes to the fore
  18. That’s amazing - I have literally transformed your window cleaner diaries composition into a complete work of art with your editing skills - Bravo us both!! I have to say, it wouldn’t have the same impact if I sent that message written down scripted - with things like exit stage left!
  19. It’s not a public slanging match against the vaccine, it’s countering an opinion on the speed of returning to ‘normal’ life based on facts. The only thing I can think of is that the vaccination Merry go round will start up again with the flu vaccine season, so effectively some people will get 3 or even 4 doses this year, and that may well help
  20. Thanks for that, You beat me to it, I was just about to say if vaccination was so easy to understand please pen a post starting with Jenner’s discovery in the 18th century through till now encompassing cellular and humoral immunity, as well as the different types of vaccines, who can and cannot have the different types and the brave new world of mRNA vaccines, including the lessons the last time mRNA technology was used allied to consistency of how data is measured and presented aligned to predicting how it can work in people without copy pasting a 14 year olds wiki post. it really is not an easy subject to tease out
  21. Errrr it’s incredibly difficult to understand and quantify what a vaccination is, how it works, how effective it will be especially against a moving mutating target and once it is on board/partially on board mainly to a population that won’t be going out and about to gigs etc how this can have an effect on transmissions, surges and knock effects to health systems and people’s treatment
  22. I hope they end up ok, but Some of the stories I have are positively Darwinian....
  23. Apologies - sniping a type between work bits and bobs I meant U.K. population - but the London density I knew was bad, but those figures are startling. The U.K. fits into Canada about 40 times and into Texas just under 3 times. Loved the time I spent in Vancouver and BC
