Tech 21 VT 500 vs Tech 21 1969 Head - differences?
Cuzzie replied to cetera's topic in Amps and Cabs
Sometimes I feel like I am endorsing @Tech21NYC the amount of stuff I have and still want of theirs -
In general - Closer to the strings - stronger/louder the sound. There is no harm in a slant if that is the sound levels you want across strings - use your ears not eyes on this. If it’s not flattening and you need it to, sometimes you need to put some more downward pressure to drive into the wood. you can always take them out, check if it’s springs or rubber under the screws and or foam under the pick up. If any of it is too thick preventing you getting them lower, trim it. You could try longer screws

Depends what sound you want to achieve Just get a screwdriver out and get it to the right height for you - 2 min job

Are you looking at just the head to pair with your own cab or the combo they do? -

Shame I already sold mine or you could have had it! VT500 will go for around £250-300 - it’s a good price for a good piece of kit -
Tech 21 VT 500 vs Tech 21 1969 Head - differences?

Bit busy now, and will try to write more, but essentially if you bought 2 VTBass pedals and a line selector like an LS2 or a parallel path like KMA Audio machines The Tyler and had a power amp then you could recreate single settings and a stacked one. By time you do that, depending on how many second hand deals you get, you are a few hundred down. I really like it, I like Rack stuff (not huge ones of course!) the 300w doesn’t bother me as I think it will be loud enough for most things, may well struggle for a loud unsupported (by PA) venue (the VTBass 500 amp had to be dimed and that was 500w) But real estate, if you were through a PA you could XLR out, solid state and don’t need a can unless you need for monitoring, and it’s a 1 carry or wheel. They are a bit hens teeth -

Sandberg Panther Special - tonal characteristics?
Cuzzie replied to falling_in2_infinity's topic in Bass Guitars
The thing that blew me away also was the weight and craftsmanship of the curves - it’s so thin yet rounded it’s a wonder-it’s also very versatile with its config and options -
Sandberg Panther Special - tonal characteristics?
Cuzzie replied to falling_in2_infinity's topic in Bass Guitars
It’s the gem in the Sandberg line up, oft undervalued - I’ve played with a pick and fingers and it fits like a glove. Totally a bit more mellow I would say compared to the VM, but that is not a bad thing, it is still rich and full bodied. I haven’t cranked it with distortion, but there is no reason why it wouldn’t give a bit of bite to its tone, it is a panther after all (awful joke). It’s a phenomenal bass -
Still great and still amazing I think I said earlier that to get the most out of it if you have several basses/guitars or sounds you like is to create a numbers of sounds per instrument and store them and make a crib sheet. For example slots in the 50’s for a P, 60’s for my Jazz etc. In there will be an SVT sound or Fuzz which will be clean, mild, moderate, obscene dirt/OD or a sound which stacks best with another pedal. Keep a crib sheet - makes it easy and then if you go midi you can program effectively or save the 3 you will need for whatever performance if doing one with it, or just keeps things properly filed for recording. You won’t look back - it’s great
-
Failing that I use a Focusrite Scarlett which is good and has a headphone out - all you need is a USB dongle into the iPad and that will work
-
Pretty sure there are dongles out there which will plug in to your port and allow another connection and a headphone jack would that not work?

That’s amazing congrats. I always thought he was a genuine person and one of the times I saw him perform it was the day after his mother died, and he still did the most wonderful heart felt Gig - he is a true great
