I will be intrigued as to what else the pedal can do aside from the obvious metal sound we all hear - DG stuff is way more versatile than the A/V we see out there in you tube land, I really wish they would do some more of that themselves. Regarding price - it really is not that bad I think - the argument about an amp is not much more for example doesn’t really hold water - ICE power modules etc will have a set price. People will bring out the Helix argument and say, that does way more and is a similar price - doesn’t hold water in my view especially as Line6 and Yamaha are such a big company. DG is big to us as bassists, but overall it’s a small company where things are tough. Maybe he has shared some platforms with the DSP upcoming, which makes business and manufacturing sense, but the R&D that would have gone into this is huge. I think it’s a very decent price point actually for this.

Or swap the nut and reverse the string order

If that is what you are after then I would get the Sandy and pop a different pick up in - that way you get the quality of the build and the sound you want. Had a passive VS4 with a Sandy pick up - it’s still not a Fender P

Congrats Sandy’s are always on the bright side Its a stunner

Some VERY good news at last - live music back by the Spring?

I must say when we played with a limiter the drummer was on an electronic kit - made a world of difference -

85 with a meter is not bad - you can have a plenty loud enough gig and it generally only cuts the power of its consistently offending. Sometimes the places with meters that will cut only cut a few power sockets right on the stage, but if you can find out and be sneaky you can send a long lead to a socket outside the cutting zone thereby avoiding it as long as the proprietor doesn’t see. -
True defo take the LH1000 then and just blow them away

Fuzz will help to lose you - dial in the amp in the rooms, or take your Hartke with you to rehearsal-how good/bad are the ear plugs you wear playing in the rooms? That won’t help if it attenuates all the wrong stuff What volume are you playing at, play at the lowest level possible and you’ll get a better mix
-
So...... Ashdown boys will be along to give recommendations for the range which will be great pieces of stuff, as I don’t use I can’t say, but you won’t go far wrong. For my money, trying to keep in budget and you can split amp/cab money as you see fit and available: Peavey mini Mega Tech21 VTBass 500 Hartke LH 1000/500 Quilter bass block Genzler Magellan 800/350 Fender 800/TB600 Tech21 power deuce deluxe QSC power amp, or any decent power amp to amplify. Barefaced 210 or supercompact or that big one on sale here. Hartke HyDrive HX cabs are solid enough There you go - I take no offence if no suggestions are used, but a good second hand scour should fit you out with the above in your price range.

Well - this will lead to people sharing their faves which is not a bad thing, but may not be right for you. Now shops are hopefully going to open the possibility of trying stuff out is maybe possible depending where you live. Once you find a couple you like, create a list, scour the second hand market and pounce. If the reviews you have seen are consistently talking about reliability issues, power description undercooked etc. It’s valid to avoid - if it’s about someone not liking the sound as it’s not their taste, then hold it in mind but use your own ears. Only things you know you want like weight, portability, on board compressor, on board drive channel etc can be determined by you and this will narrow the field. Ampeg and ashdown are great. Hartke LH1000 is a great no none sense head. Peavy Mini Max is also a great head at a great price. For that budget I would get a no nonsense head that does the job, and spend more on a decent cab to get amazing dispersion and sound quality. Good luck

It’s a difficult sound to nail - it’s done ok, I wouldn’t say exactly on the money though - I’ll let Cam tremble -

All I will say is the AO is the best distortion pedal Darkglass do full stop for a variety of sounds - some form of it you won’t go far wrong

Liking the options on the video - seems like a good thing to have a long tweak with to get what you need, there is a wide range of sounds in it

I get you on that, but the chat was about private providers providing services for NHS patients. It was just to illustrate that when this happens not all private providers do this to make a profit. Yes they want to make money, but this money is at least Re-invested into healthcare not to line profits, and the deal struck between Nuffield and NHS when the hospital was requisitioned for Covid times was only for what it cost to run the hospital, no more, and for a long time they were restricted from any non NHS activities even if they had empty space. It’s just an example where things are not always bad in the private sector -

Not all private healthcare does - Nuffield Health for example, pretty sure being a charity they are not for profit, all income is reinvested into the service they provide. -
