  1. Thanks! Its great fun - The natural P bass looked very bland before I flamed the lines, just enough to bring something out and Gun oil popped the rest. The jazz bass started life like this Then this after flaming Being swamp ash it really popped - the stain was first with Tea and then wire wool soaked in vinegar. The jag started life as this before going through various stains, bit of a burn and then a gun oil seal Get the torch out - if it’s too much, you can buff/sand it back. You can use the torch to create relic stuff on a nitro finished bass The ‘bubble’ effect on the belly cut was using a torch till the paint blistered, bang it in the freezer for 20 mins - the bubbles then pop leaving the bass below unharmed. Just a few bits of trial and error from me if peeps want to try
  2. Trumpian often leads to Dumpian
  3. @krispn have you actually coined a new term in Trumpian? Trumpishness? Trumposity?
  4. You can achieve a lot with flaming to finish All of the below were flamed to either pop the grain, scorch or burn when I popped them together, refurbed them or made them.
  5. Is it fretted or just lined?
  6. Why tape instead of paint? Is it so any pot contact areas can be easily removed? Used both and love paint
  7. Silly thing is a hug is negligible for passing on the virus, just that little bit of contact can mean so much to people, but prolonged close proximity can transmit. So far as the vaccine - it’s a personal choice for sure, but the data’s will have to be published, verified and scrutinised by non government associations/experts and made available and be published as well. This should help people with their choices, and should not allow an agenda to be pushed and hopefully the correct vaccine(s) to be used and distributed.
  8. MetroTimer is a pure beep metronome For an Bass 808 app Audiokit do a great one which is very very good and close to an 808, they ASO do a great synth app and have a range of products - you’ll like it
  9. Nah - those people slating this are talking rubbish - it’s way more than decent - great amp the LH1000 and built like a tank, loved mine - congrats
  10. When I first saw this I thought you meant 808 synth and forgot about my 808 I used to have. For a metronome there is one called MetroTimer
  11. The above is so true - think back all those years when Aretha Franklin was struggling to get anywhere in the charts, they saw her as run of the mill - went to Muscle Shoals and their musicians and the rest is history. Your best singing is always in the shower or bath or car by yourself - try and replicate that - that’s all you can do
  12. I bet Oxford releases an update soon........that one is not using RNA new tech and piggy backs onto existing vaccines in practice
  13. Can i also add that he is a gentleman seller as well
  14. Sound advice to always try before you buy, but as @S.F.Sorrow sorrow says, its a superbly crafted instrument with resonant well made components, tailoring a sound with a minor change such as a pick up, or string change really is nothing, and the stock pick ups, preamps can be sold to offset cost, or even kept to restore To original if it is to be moved on. I’ll wager that many people have moved a bass on for these reasons, eve a poor set up that would otherwise have ben perfect for them! Glad there is another in the Creamery camp!
  15. I will say, if building for yourself, get it right, you will get a stellar bass that suits you-I have done a couple for less than a Fender Mex bass, and I know they would stand up against them no worries
  16. It’s all about the gear used to build it - if you can replicate tools you use for other stuff, or are going to build a few then the cost starts to come down. Materials and specs - it all depends what you want to use. You can get for example a decent block or blocks of wood for around £30-50, but then again a set of strings can cost you that too, and it all tots up. Is it building for self, for fun or to sell, each one will determine how much you can spend My advice is, get your pot of money for tools, get money pot for stuff and play the market for second hand stuff and new stuff, you can do refurbs. For example I got an old P bass body which was a bit of a wreck, repaired it and added bits a mixture of second hand and new, to make a very decent bass which I sold for cost (I didn’t charge my time). It was the fun factor for me. I would say though, that even accounting for being frugal and second hand market scouring, you will look at about £200 at least
  17. Great bass - great chap to deal with
  18. Don’t get me wrong - that will be great for small and big band’s alike No doubt (hopefully) things will slacken for the Queen’s birthday and that could be a good barometer. What will be interesting this Winter will be the proportion of hospital admissions (and unfortunately deaths which no one wants) normal winter flu/virus vs C-19 so we can have an accurate view of how it/they behave or interact. Let’s hope stats are accurately recorded to enable this and not just ‘assumed’
  19. This just goes along with what some of us were saying that were bemoaned, it is good news that we want, but sensible caution was exhibited. The real key is manufacture and distribution. The U.K. does not heavily manufacture, plus the big hubs for distribution and manufacture are Japan and guess what, Europe - the supply lines need to be drawn and we are probably not first on them for obvious reasons now being a spoke and not a hub. There are of course other vaccines like the Oxford/Jenner one, not using new RNA tech which may usurp it, which is good news. Dealing with the topic - if we can get things back on track for entertainment about Halloween/xmas party time that could be great for everyone
  20. Warm up the voice before the gig, start with an easy song, put the difficult one in the middle when on a roll, know when voice fatigue hits in and make your sets an appropriate length
  21. Yep that mini is cool or the Jackson Dinky - pointy headstock rules
  22. The fender squire short scale thingy is good - I got one for one of the kids, I play it more
  23. YES YES aaaaaaand YES!!!!!!!
