  1. It’s a combination of the two really - there will be bits and bobs hanging around - there is no doubt that the neck pockets will all have very similar if not the same dimensions - that will correspond to scale length, but that should be covered. If you want a particular neck profile, you’ll take an existing neck and get your Shinto saw, spoke shave and sand strips out, or program a CNC machine to bevel off what you need. There will BW necks with out rods, with rods awaiting a fingerboard etc. It’s how I would do it if I had volume for my creations.

    DR Strings

This is so difficult as I have tried both of those and the Blues are a little ‘polite’ for want if a better word. If you like Sunbeams but want to try something different I recommend Hi Beams - great strings with loads of presence and I think Bax-Music have a reasonable deal on them last time I looked
  3. Yeah, I had a look at the website just out of interest to see if anything was remotely like what the OP got. Essentially - the only real thing making it custom is the upgrade hardware and pick ups, which are paid for by the buyer! Anyhow - I am sure it will resolve
  4. Because often as bassists we like minutia!
  5. Ok that makes sense - I suppose it means that every bass whether Adrian picks its configuration or a customer picks it is a custom bass from Public Peace/Maruszczyk
  6. Thanks for that, typically woolly words, probably the big manufacturers like Fender have all these options if you go ‘up’ the line as it were, hence it will be more stock for them. I had a play with the configurator, and crikey there are some random things on there - they charge you for a nitro finish on the neck - there is no option not to. Extra charge for Carbon rods in the neck when most people have that as standard these days, charge for nitro finish on the headstock, like it’s not part of the neck........ If it’s about extra work, weirdly no extra charge for a J rout in a PJ as opposed to just a P. Anyway, I agree with the fact that it is relevant, to this conversation, but also to extrapolate to other things, situations should they arise.
  7. Happy to be educated on this, but the topic of custom order. If the bass or product is assembled from multiple parts which are offered as stock and normal, is it truly custom? It seems to me that the manufacturer could put the options he offers together and sell it, but then it’s called stock? Surely it’s custom (maybe bespoke Is the word) if they are doing something which is not normally offered in their line, or altering something they have especially for the customer. If I ring up a store and they only have 2 colours, white and black of a bass, but the company they stock have other colours and I fancy electric pink, and it’s in the standard range and they order it from me, is that custom? Not trying to be a bell piece, but trying to, in my own head differentiate between ‘custom’ and ‘assembled from stock part options’
  8. I get what you are saying, but, this seemed to happen outside these times. As people have said, even in these times customer relations can be handled differently rather than be fobbed off essentially saying (and I am Para phrasing) “I am one of the greatest builders in the world, and you won’t find this anywhere, you should be glad I bestowed this bass upon you for the princely sum of a large wad of your hard earned cash.”
  9. We did address the language barrier point In various guises including some form of translation ability if you want to be an international company, but in your above post the key words were ‘mixed’ treatment, ‘stonewalled’ and (sorry if i presume wrong) is over access to something as simple as a wiring diagram, which is likely to be sat on a file in a pdf format, then it does point to something systemically wrong unfortunately. Email transcripts form both sides were also posted.....
  10. Yep - done it - it works, it’s not just active bases or more specifically active ore amps that can overload a circuit and give too much of a pushed sound - hot passive pick ups can do that too Its all about gain staging to get the effect you desire
  11. I am pretty sure that is the case. Lets be honest here, it’s £2k. Now I know there are overheads, workforce payments equipment wear and tear etc. But it will be priced to make a profit. He could take the bass back, sell it as a discount B-stock and still probably not lose any money, or use it as a trade show/demo bass. I see at least 3-4 people here saying they will now not spend money with him a that’s cost him £5-10k - bad business. As guys have said, Sandberg, Overwater, Shuker, we have some talented builders on here who would do you a way better bass - everyone of them would have treated a customer better and guilt something just as good if not better.
  12. Bit like me then a proper pot noodle I am - look nice, smell nice, no substance
  13. Hell yeah, it’s a no blame culture, but you better not ever slappadabass, that gets you a chocolate swirly
  14. It’s badass - not Cheap and no longer produced due to the price and success of the DP3X pedal, but if you get the chance, it’s a powerhouse
  15. Tech21 dUg Ultrabass 1000 Does all your dirt needs
  16. I am sure that people will come up with stuff, but maybe people are out and about with living a bit of life after lockdown!?! As my discussion with the OP earlier someone could post a clip, but it’s using just 1 setting off a pedal or group of pedals, it may miss nuances of interaction - it’s really difficult to Do and do properly across the whole range of something
  17. Unscrew and measure the bushings/holes and there is your answer - nice score on the bass
  18. It’s great to have both, they will give you massively different things depending on your situation and it leaves you 3 rigs 110 2 x 110 ST
  19. Supertwin does whatever you want - EQ whatever you are doing right it will replicate and hammer it out probably about the best cab out there
  20. Sandblast is a fine looking bass - Red or Blue? Change the pick up if it’s just stock?
  21. Hmmmm - it’s not too dissimilar to a P bass body shape, or indeed any other shape in the concert bass range aside from contours, maybe the upper horn a bit longer? Cant see the headstock being overtly elongated in comparison to a ‘normal’ one. Doubt it’s more difficult to get a case to fit compared to a Hamer 12 string headstock, and that fits into normal decent bags
  22. It’s a journey i cyclically go round too! How about a jazz neck on a precision? Go different, get a Status jazz neck, pop it on, different feel and sound. I did it to a P and it’s one of my best sounding and feeling basses
  23. The one that is really singing to me is the 30th Anniversary X concert bass 4 or 5 https://www.jacksonguitars.com/gear/basses/x-series-signature-david-ellefson-30th-anniversary-concert-bass-cbx-iv/2917804521
