  1. You actually hit the point on a lot of what we are saying on this - no one is forcing neutrality, but there is a skill in writing and comedy which is sadly missing here. Of course we like different things and that should stay, but the current culture sadly is not set up for everything being neutral, and why is that such a bad goal to reach for, even though there may be failures on the way? There is also the question of perpetuating stereotypes, which holds things back. Just trying to Help negotiate 3 daughters through life amongst other issues they may face - it’s not easy
  2. But by simultaneously saying, ‘that’s different’, it buries that point. If I was a manufacturer and this is something that happens ‘often’ I would certainly have a disclaimer/info sheet on the variables that can happen in transit etc
  3. I think you are missing the point, the point was a minor defect and how it was dealt with by the company. second example - nothing like this one as a spoiler - A friend had bought a second hand Electra Sandberg bass (their lower cost line), broke a tuning peg by his own clumsiness, emailed Sandberg to ask where can he buy a replacement one, the owner himself emailed back and they sent a brand new one In the post free of charge arriving within a week. With sympathetic customer service, this goes away or can be dealt with
  4. Hmmmmm, I know what you are trying to say, but it just doesn’t quite cut it in this day and age, by all means use your experience to form an article and make it correct. The novel or romance novel thing doesn’t quite run true though, to write a good novel you need to project a viewpoint from all characters involved in whatever ‘romance’ or situation - even taking Harry Potter as an example, the series of books were about more than him. This is trying to dumb down one side of the story, and was it his actual experience.......
  5. Personally I don’t think it’s a ‘custom’ instrument, it’s a combination of the standard alternatives he offers. If we take what you say as a given - theN the main problem is how the issue has been addressed. A friend of mine bought a new Sandberg, he found a fleck, and I mean a fleck of paint on the neck from another finish, which obviously happened by accident. Sandberg contacted, no questions asked took it back, solved the problem- no extra cost. Thats service
  6. Agreed - the real stupidity in that article (having fortunately only skim read it) is that it would have been so easy to just make it how to get it past your partner and leave the gender Male/female/trans out of it
  7. Get a dremel out, router, knife or a sand paper and bevel the edge - or get a sheet and have a go?

Update on using the saws - very positive experience-easy to use to get precise cuts on the wood - I used them and chisels almost exclusively to shape a body from a block of Black Limba I glued together-I did use the router at the end to round it all off. What was great was after attaching the template to the first rough body cut, it was very easy to take most the excess off to leave the router very little to do and with the thin blade you can get close. example of the neatness of the cut - smoother than a Standard western saw end result Great day in the sun
  9. Technically Luke didn’t kill his father, he fought him and chopped an arm off And weakened him, and then he became one with the force.....

Cool its true what they say on the vids, once you start going off line - you can’t really rescue it, is I suppose a downfall

Poor you - hope the mishap was not too bad. Theory on it being pull as the action is that you can use a thinner blade because the wood pinches it to keep it straight as opposed to bending when you push it through when you apply the force. Also it’s more considerate for adjacent working as the blade travels towards you when it has the most force as opposed to away to your fellow worker. Tested it on the feel vs a normal saw - defo smoother cut than a normal, and not too bad to use, takes a little getting used to

I get that - but they had the set of saws I wanted in stock and I hate waiting, I could have gotten them marginally cheaper if I really hunted, but unlikely in my case, I did also get a nice round bottom spoke shave
