  1. Quite like his videos he has been doing, all very very good cabs, but this reminds me exactly of why I like the 12 XN driver on its own - you get out of it exactly what you put in. I get the thoughts about a P or a J as a better choice, but in the P and J world there are a myriad of choices on pick ups, even within the Fender range for example, Custom shop, Yosemite etc. With a Ray, relatively few have The aftermarket ones or circuits that are available good as they are. I may suggest some riffs for him, see if he fancies them!
  2. Oh my good lord - squeaky bum time - that’s lovely!
  3. Cheers Just done that, cutting a pickguard now so before I go hell for leather on the neck I am waiting for how much telic I end up doing on the body and will match accordingly. I don’t mind the back of the neck as I prefer a work in feel anyway
  4. Similar to the above - just starting to relic this for the next project.... Not got the acetone out yet for the fingerboard. Again I tried to look mainly where I played - the bare wood will get some dark staining as well, it’s in progress and taking it easy with 0000 wire wool
  5. Just on the neck issue-a couple photos from a Geddy’s book (hope they are ok...) different wear across the bases, first one is a 53, last is a 55
  6. I’ll agree with that, but I am as of yet undecided on the amount of fingerboard wear that should happen - certainly in mine there would be next to none past the 7th fret and probably only the E and A string
  7. Nah that bowlocks I have become less attractive as I have aged, and that’s horrific to start with!
  8. @chris_b & @stewblack we can do the Sunday Lunch test. I’ll bring the meat and 2 veg, you guys bring the gravy, we’ll see which is best
  9. If I use more than 1 how many times am I allowed to vote?
  10. CITES was dropped in September last year so that is no issue. I have bought bass, pedals, pick ups etc from the US and Talkbass. No problems, each time I did upon calculating correctly it was less than what I would pay over this side
  11. I was just referring to what you said about quality in your initial statement, it Appeared you had owned one or multiple BF cabs. It’s probably my interpretation that when I think of build quality it’s components, woods, moving parts, sound, voicing etc not just covering. I haven’t seen or heard a sound quality comparison either side by side, or a DG cab without the standard ‘baked in’ type sound going through them. I know you are on board with DG and thought you may have tried possibly the smaller cabs. I assume these are just bigger versions of those
  12. Thanks - I get the tolex covering issue - but aside from the covering, looking at sound what is the comparison?
  13. When u say fair comparison quality wise can you expand?
  14. Supertwin thumbs up from me whatever you put through it
  15. FYI Barefaced 810 is 36kg 2 Barefaced 410’s is 48kg 2 Barefaced supertwins 36kg Yes there are other manufacturers Doing stuff on the lightweight side and good sound, them is just figures I know off the top of my noggin

  17. If you put Someone who sounds like Barry White, through the Barry White filter - will it be subsonic?
  18. No worries, I didn’t make myself clear in my post
  19. Posted at the same time - I think 3 is, play if it’s entry level may not, as the Boss VE 20 doesnt
  20. I was thinking of the voice live 3, I thought that might have been
  21. Am I correct in thinking that it’s Midi so you should be able to one switch it if you set a controller up correctly?
  22. Cuzzie

    feedback for Deedee

Great chap to deal with, easy transaction and paid up super quick - hope you enjoy the status neck!
  23. I just recently got the Boss VE20 to have a dabble at what it does, but this looks a whole leap better - if we get out and about again, could be a good one to get
  24. That’s completely correct and thanks for your kind words. To me the the key is to think about how you want to relic and what you want it to look like-just taking a band saw to it is not right.
