Lay a shadow guitar part to a click. Add drums to the same click Tempo so the correct parts can be accentuated. Re-lay a guitar part. Place a DI first in your chain and take a raw unprocessed signal out, then take a DI or unbalanced signal from the end of the chain. The 2 bass parts will be exactly in tandem and you can re-amp, process then clean signal and blend with the other signal whatever effects you are using. 2 tracks per take this way

Do you consider it sacrilege to modify a signature bass?

I think you can get an idea of what you like before the mod If you have played with a noise cancelling dual coil jazz type pick up at the bridge and liked it, it’s not too far off a Dual cool P pick up granted the field area is different. Same for a Humbucker to a great degree, as essentially that is what a split coil is. There are basses out there with 2 Split coils BC Rich, Fender Elite II approx 82/83 so there are examples of a sound which some people will prefer. If you mainly only ever gravitate to a P sound, or in a 2 pick up bass Solo the neck, I agree it prolly won’t add much and you would have hammered a bass -
G&all ASATs are great bases especially if you can pick up one with their old skinnier neck and not the current #12 which is liste as a PJ and Falls between both and doesn it please any master IMHo - necks are personal of course, but defo play one to decide. MFD pick ups do bring the thunder as our man above said, but, if you are pre amp or pedal heavy infront your amp or however you generate sound, think carefully-being so super hot you tend to have the vol on about 75% max and the signal can quite pushed. It’s like being in a group of people, there is always one who is louder than the others and pushes the conversation, sometimes without listening to others. There is a lot of preamp and switches to fiddle with to probably just get one sound you will use. That said they look the nuts and are well made instruments. I did not find a neck dive or a forearm contour problem at all, but I wear it fairly low. If you can’t immediately see/find one, but find and L2000 play that, see if you like the electronics, then you’ll know as its the same, just in a different shell Good luck!

Uncle Stew May say different...... -
They look belting basses, congrats. I know exactly what the neck feels like, and that’s a winner in my book. Martin the Charlatans bassist was using one at the performance last year at Glastonbury if you can look it up - it was the only decent thing about that performance and the bass sounded huge

Congrats buddy - I never care what folk say or advocate changing something just because someone else says. Trust your feelings, you’ll make most things sound good

Agreed The reason I went Mac initially was when I was studying I had an educational discount and needed a computer - by the time I factored things I wanted from a laptop, the old unibody MacBooks were incredible value with the discount - and you could upgrade them. Other than that, nowt wrong with a properly spec’d windows machine

If you want to get into Logic Pro Macbook If you want only GB - ipad - loads you can still do. They are so powerful now that it’s practically a computer - also depends on personal computing needs and whether you should add a magic pad / keypad to it. If you can get both - amazing as you can use your iPad as a control for logic on your MacBook and also have things like synth key apps to pop into logic

@Wolverinebass knows his onions about stuff and may be able to help. I am a pretty much embedded Mac man and like Apple products, Garageband, Logic X etc. Could the outlay for a Mac be used to buy other better stuff to go alongside what you have?

OP already said buying a new bass is not an option -
I’d say for what is under the hood that’s not actually a bad price - there is a buckettonne or tech in it

Mod it - it’s probably never going to be a ‘classic’ in years to come and it’s not a limited edition - that’s not to say it won’t be a good bass. Ifnypu don’t like the rout it can always be professionally filled and refinished and be barely noticeable. Double P basses are cool. With the switch I would only consider what YOU will use, for example I would never have a switch bridge, neck, both As I would never use the bridge alone, but a neck/series/parallel I might. Horses for courses - mod and enjoy -
Probably one of the coolest things is the noise gate added in, small thing but mighty useful
