  1. I’ve used a few in the focusrite range, they are all good, the iTrack One Pre is very very cool, nowt wrong with an iRig HD either
  2. Mod it - it’s probably never going to be a ‘classic’ in years to come and it’s not a limited edition - that’s not to say it won’t be a good bass. Ifnypu don’t like the rout it can always be professionally filled and refinished and be barely noticeable. Double P basses are cool. With the switch I would only consider what YOU will use, for example I would never have a switch bridge, neck, both As I would never use the bridge alone, but a neck/series/parallel I might. Horses for courses - mod and enjoy
  3. Probably one of the coolest things is the noise gate added in, small thing but mighty useful
  4. This is the nuts
  5. I had it as dirt/distortion in the HPF and Chorus in the LPF running parallel to the clean signal-glorious
  6. KMA Audio Machines - The Tyler is a great bit of kit. I started a wee thread on it on here with some decent you tube videos on it. There is so much you can do with compression, dirt, modulators etc. They offer a money back guarantee 14 or 21 days and also warranty for 5 years I think. Its worth a shout for sure
  7. And Ida is super cool
  8. Lots of good advice here. I used a 5 banger for a while and didn’t find too much of a ‘transition’ problem. Sometimes I think we create hurdles that are not there, or perpetuate dogma written down, so a mindset gets created to fail rather than flourish. I played it like a 4 string and when I wanted a lower note Between E and B I added it in if I thought the song sounded better, if I thought it was played better up an octave I did. I didn’t play it exclusively, but I played it more than the 4. Ultimately Drop D or drop D down half a step suits what I do - that’s about it. Have some fun with it!
  9. With the above comments to me Marcus Miller is right up there as one of the bests - he tends to play what the song needs despite all the chops in the world. I prefer him on other people’s stuff to his own though
  10. I have to add that VM4 is actually Hölgers fave bass
  11. Tightens up the lower strings a little in their sound and their M or J models provide some clarity to help it bite through the mix. The VS4 was left as is, probably to stay traditional. Their Forty Eight is not 2 humbuckers but a VM configuration like the bass listed above, but sounds different likely due to slight positional variance and body wood mass Tonal variation across the range is what it gives
  12. I’ll add I have probably laid hands on most of the basses in the range (Aside from some sig models and newer ones like The Lionel) and probably all ageing points. Without doubt the aged ones are better feeling and playing IMHO
  13. And for a longer answer - it’s hard to put into words, it will sound a bit soppy as I know it is an inanimate object, but it definitely felt like I should play differently on it compared to a new one - it’s the old comfy slippers feel about it. Its a great experience
  14. I do love a bit of dUg, bless him his mum passed away a couple days ago. Corey, seemed ok, maybe an underlying tension, but the performance and vocal performance was astounding
  15. Corey is still immense
  16. barmy
  17. I have to admit Muzz is my favourite by far, i really didn’t mind stain, and i quite like the recent album although its is a bit ‘ver produced’ and heavily compressed. Having seen them on their Vivid tour last year, Doug was spot on as was the whole band His pedal board was nuts !
  18. Shame you don’t want a 4 banger, there is a lovely Spector posted on here up your way
  19. https://ruokangas.com/company/ I do like this guy in your back yard
  20. That’s exactly the point - you cannot look at the view numbers on the videoS and say, yep people like slap because it got X amount. Brandy won’t hit the same heights, it’s not as popular - she has 280k subscribers so getting 80k in a day is probably par for the course. She is a nice player for sure, the more popular the song, the more views no matter what technique is used. No offence to her but I would say Bobby Vega Is an infinitely better player and those 3 videos I posted involving him combined don’t reach one of her pop covers. Pick, finger, slap n pop, tapping, finger slapping like Doug Wimbish-horses for course - done well at the right time sound great
  21. nowt to do with it being Dua Lipa, it’s all even views across all her videos....
  22. It’s a great great film, saw this some time back and watched it more than once - great tunes - glad you stumbled on it and enjoyed it
  23. @krispn you are right and wrong - people prefer slap - these videos have been up for a total of nearly 20 years combined and has only just about gained parity with That slap video up for 4 weeks, nowt to do with Dua Lipa being in the title of the other one for making it rank higher in searches....... @dave_bass5 we need to drum up business on pick playing. My playing is crap in general even though I prefer a pick, you pop a video up of the same song with a pick For the whole song, let’s see where we can get to - that’s the real test, I am thinking a million maybe. We’ll get this guy to do our counting...... IMG_9634.MP4
  24. Agreed - one of the reasons I gave a gozillion options of not run of the mill!
