Paulownia is also known as princess or empress wood and has been used by other manufacturers I think G&L. Lightweight, strong, Eco friendly as very quick growing, mainly out East which is probably why most Companies don’t use it.
-
Not breaks but woods like Paulownia and Cedar May well mark more easily
-
Black one first - then I’ll do you a green one!
-
I use that as an excuse for poor fretting technique - great for distortion though
-
Don’t even consider the top half of the fretboard - past the 7th fret you risk befalling a terrible condition of becoming a guitarist, above the 12th, you actually spontaneously combust. Stay Low, stay proud
-
What do you mean by vintage? Vintage effect or vintage as in old, rare etc. Be easier if you placed a wanted advert for specifics

What have you got against slap bass?
Cuzzie replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
Not sure it’s entirely correct to say Larry Graham invented the style. Its roots are laid in orchestral music technique Bartok Pizz where the strong payer essentially does the ‘pop’ by plucking the string and allowing it to snap back. I think the first recorded ‘slap’ was a guy called Steve Brown. Gypsy Jazz uses a slap technique and has done for some time. Turn of the 20th century Guys like Bill Johnson and Pops Foster are using it. This is of course all on upright DB. Move to Electric bass - yes LG is probably the first, then guys like Stanley Clarke adapt it, Bootsy etc. And it comes to today where it is ubiquitous on You tube and guitar shows everywhere -
https://www.rockinger.com/en/parts/pickups-and-pickup-accessories/bass-pickups/sandberg/ black label also have no logo
-
My MarloweDK with Sandberg pick ups do not have a sandberg logo on. Some of them will, normally the split coil. If buying second hand if it has Haussel pick ups they also tend not to have a logo as well. If you do see a second hand one and want the exact specs and the owner is unsure, then you can email Sandberg with the serial number and they will tell you what is what when it left the factory.

That’s because he is letting the notes breathe more, does some finger style and is wearing wonderfully short shorts -
2 lots of own brand pick ups - standard and black label. For a vast generalisation standard are leaning more towards a vintage sound, black labels More punchy and hotter. Both very very good Plek’d at the factory, I have seen the machine in action - it’s cool if you are a geek like me. Great basses on their own or with pedals etc. In some ways of you like using pre amps in your amp or pedals the normal Sandbergs are very useful as they are not too hot to overload a signal
-
You need to add a special one as well...!

I dinnae ken if yous ken wha I ken ya ken?

Sounds like Scots Patois that bruv

Very easy to do, you can a bubbling appearance that shatters also. Accelerate the cycle using a heat gun, then freeze. If you just want cracking heat but don’t let bubble, pop in the freezer for at least 20mins to get a decent effect
-
That’s the key is not just to go for it with a power or belt sander, but you can represent friction. The other key is how does the wood look underneath when it’s bare - various methods to achieve a decent look

Also I think if you look across the ‘ages’ of how long they have been going the ageing and pattern of ageing has subtly changed
-
I got that, no criticism felt, it was more to fluff out the facts you made - casual reader may have thought they only do 1 type of relic, where in fact there are multiple sorts Across the line
-
There will be an element of similarity in the Sandbergs, but they have different age patterns - soft aged, Hardcore Aged, Hardcore reserve, masterpiece, MarloweDK, TSBS - they all have their own pattern and look, but within each category granted they will look very similar

I learnt a lot doing my own Tru-Oil and nitro can finishes. its amazing how stuff behaves and actually they need time to rest between work on it
