I got that, no criticism felt, it was more to fluff out the facts you made - casual reader may have thought they only do 1 type of relic, where in fact there are multiple sorts Across the line

There will be an element of similarity in the Sandbergs, but they have different age patterns - soft aged, Hardcore Aged, Hardcore reserve, masterpiece, MarloweDK, TSBS - they all have their own pattern and look, but within each category granted they will look very similar

I learnt a lot doing my own Tru-Oil and nitro can finishes. its amazing how stuff behaves and actually they need time to rest between work on it
  4. I don’t think it would really affect intonation to a great degree and I don’t think tweaking the neck would make a huge difference, but someone more learned than me may come forth
  5. It does look a tiny bit naughty, but i suppose it depends on what your OCD is like. If it does not affect playability, then you can argue that we can live and let live, however, one should expect it to be pretty good and probably not be like this. Friend of mine had a trouble with the bridge being slightly off on a brand new fender he got from PMT - maybe PMT get the duds?!
  6. Absolutely on the money - it blew my mind when I picked one up to play it - congrats on having a wonderful machine
  7. Panther slips beneath the radar, it is an absolute splendid instrument

I love a relic, cant understand the angst - it’s a finish option end of. Sandberg over all probably do it better than anyone out there and have done consistently for a long period. Having said that, I tried my own. I took time to work out the height I play my bass, where I play it, how I carry it, how I stash it etc, I even carried it around places with me to simulate wear etc. Then I did this - I quite like it (colour not to everyone’s taste I know!) So i can say this is Very personalised relic, and if I was doing it for someone else I would do the same. If anyone wants to try their own, happy to share any bits I have learnt.
  10. Noice Sandberg or even Electra are awesome basses, they are far from budget Good luck!
  11. Sandberg are mint - Gas away Which model?
  12. That’s fine, something may have dislodged in transit, hopefully they will sort/re-issue
  13. Whole series of those videos - it’s an even better place in the flesh Good to share it buddy
  14. Buying blind or not bass should be tip top unless stated. If it says there is a noise/shielding /grounding issue and you bought knowing this - I would say there is no comeback. If it says full working order, no issues-then it hasn’t been bought/sold correctly. That being said, things can move in transit. I would contact the seller, lay out the situation And if you think it can be solved locally to you agree a compensation, but be wary, once work has been done the seller could say they don’t want it back as it’s been altered unless this is prior agreed. You could send back, get the seller to address the issues and them receive the bass back Or refund
  15. Yeah it completely depends what they did, dummy coil, split coil in a single enclosure, stack 2 coils etc. I guess once the music starts no one knows?!
  16. Fairly important if you are using the preamp to shape your sound.
  17. Having Heard Glenn Hughes live through his Orange Rig, it sounds glorious, but if I was going tubes i would go Verellen Meatsmoke
  18. Photo’s being stored up and will do
  19. I am up for public shaming and I will be looking Out no doubt. Will try to remember to drop you a line when I have built mine
  20. Surely we can’t forget Mr Gibbons as well with a 50’s P
  21. Better hide my video evidence
  22. Seen those videos, what a player and just great use of the kit he has, always seems a really nice guy
  23. Just realised I completely misread your post as the Billy bass has it at the neck not the bridge- silly me. The answer would be yes IMO as if I take my jazz as an example I routed for Rickenbacker pick ups so it moved closer to the bridge, it is very Ballsy indeed
  24. It rules mainly because of Bobby, if you saw me play it, it would put you off as it would sound like strumming a crusty turd. This guitar is awesome, so much so I am in the process of making a body pretty much from scratch from a piece of Ash. Managed to get a good second hand deal on a Seymour Duncan 51 P stack (same one as Dusty Hill bass) and will get the appropriate neck when I see it. I don’t mind a bat either. i am hoping it will be OK - am contouring it for comfort and weight reduction, but should look the business
  25. No, but I may let you nuzzle
