Why limited to DiMarzio? Its where the million answers comes in UK - Creamery, Bare Knuckle, Radio-Shop, Entwistle, Wizard/Hot Rod Europe - Haüssel, Kloppman, Bassculture USA - Joe Barden, Lace, Lindy Fralins, Ulyate, Seymour Duncan All have their pluses and preferences

He is not wrong, prices can vary, but also remember the second hand market if there is a particular one you fancy and are patient. Get your ball park era sound (is vintage 60s or 70s to you?) that narrows down the voicing per manufacturer, overwound or not etc. Loads of good options out there. Depends what other gear you use - if your pedals/amp give you your sound, you may just want a clean, level bass sound as a starting point. So many options and variables

Can of worms time and a million responses. All I can say is take your time and do research from cheaper to boutique, google, you tube, sound cloud will Ben your friend for audio samples and reviews

Bombproof packing worked then! nice work, should clean up on

@Sk1 we have decided you are getting the 2-15 Job done
-
Agreed - It looks pretty cool as well - that would be my front runner, but I prefer a taller speaker visually
-
Well I can’t change it now - my quote has been immortalised! Good work sir!

The Specs look reasonable on them both, and they are both about 25kg - which is t bad for weight - there are lighter and heavier ones out there. If those are your 2 choices we eliminate other brands etc. It depends on storage and movement. For one part The 15’s shade it for me because of the rails allowing it to be wheeled. Sound wise are any of the speakers voiced differently, or are the coils voiced the same so it becomes a 15’s vs 10’s debate? The easiest thing to say is what sounds best to your ears and with your other musicians you play with?!!

Anyone know where to get a guitar body painted?

Rob and Dawn have always been good with me too - sometimes it takes a couple days, but they are good to deal with and good people. I have had occasions where Rob and Dawn have replied to an email practically at the same time, probably from different rooms in their house! I am sure there is a lot of work behind the scenes with getting back to work, furlough/unfurlough etc. Whatever you decide, hope you get a job done to your satisfaction -

I take it ‘seated’ venues can have some form of return as you can sit people at whatever distance is necessary, technically even a Cinema or restaurant could open with this could they not as long as it is not flaunted? I hope we can find a work around -
Status Graphite fretted necks Gove a slightly more ‘glassy’ sound and get close, but without the note swell

Here we go - usual hammering of the product before trying......... Channels should be footswitchable SS/Tube/mix 3 DI’s out SS/Tube/Mix would be cool. Mix provides the overall signal which would be controlled anyway by what you Footswitch, having the separate channel mixes to send front of house to mix as well. Then it would be killer

Don’t worry about the gap - let the guitars fill it! Finally a MB product I could potentially get behind - it’s nearly as good as the dUg amp
-
Probably should have posted this a while back, but it is a fantastic bass and i have @Wolverinebass to thank for giving m the final nudge, he knew i wanted it and needed it when it came up second hand! Stealth, upgrade to 302 preamp whoever had it made first - only gripe - I want wrap around LED’s!

So the APB-1 has a fixed pre-amp in the pick up and works with a passive tone knob as per any other passive P bass. You have no control over any other aspect - it is not an ‘active’ preamp where by you have 2-3 band EQ etc. The original APB-1 has a fixed pre-amp which had 3 settings that you flicked a switch on the pick up to select and again worked with a passive tone knob. The majority of people mainly used 1 setting so they fixed the newer generation ones as this. Pick up ‘x’ which is passive is wound a specific way for more Mids, treble etc. Whatever and works with a passive tone knob. How are those 2 different practically speaking aside from one needs a battery to work? If you are talking about a pick up with an additional onboard active pre amp to sculpt the sound vs a passive pick up then yes - you don’t compare and that is not what I said to compare.
-
It’s not apples and oranges - why can’t an active - pick up be compared to the passive pick up? Passives can also be fed into an active pre-amp, and actives could also in theory also be fed into an active pre-amp. Within the AP you have differences between the old and the new ones which are subtle - again may not be your flavour full stop, but they are different from the other range. APB-1, AJJ-1 and APJ-1. I am happy to compare them to my Creamery 58 Pick up. Custom shop you are looking at the 51 P stack as an example
-
Not GZR’s but I ended up soldering my solderless - it was way better for that particular construct
-
As said that’s fine but antiquities, custom shop and AP range are a different kettle of fish compared to them
-
Decals are born out of foolish snobbery - if it doesn’t say a certain make on a headstock it’s bound to be inferior, or people will think it looks/plays/sounds inferior etc
-
If you have played them all and don’t like ‘em fair enough, but that’s why I said we all have preferences even within manufacturers - I am very specific within a range on what I like - there is never going to be a blanket one size
-
Agreed, these were probably part Ex’s maybe - most buyers are savvy these days and researching a product before a private with inter web etc has never been easier
-
Not all Basslines/SD P pick ups are QP’s which is the point we both make but we all have our preferences even within a manufacturer
-
Which bass lines/ Seymour Duncan’s have you got?
