  1. Not unreasonable points, but if production costs all things in are the same as say a US Fender and they are at least as good if not better, should they charge less because they are a new/different brand? Surely not. Sire I think were clever in their price point, quality and named artist - the minute they brought out a higher end expensive bass folks on here gave em a slap essentially saying go back to your niche, I hasten to add probably without trying them.
  2. Aye gathered that, shape not right for me. some shapes I have wanted desperately to work for me as I liked the bass but didn’t, and I suppose saved me money
  3. Those spitfires just go to show how horses for courses it is - they look nice actually but defo not for me, shape, controls, finish- but I bet they look good on you chaps
  4. So in that case, if it is a Fender clone at a Fender price point (if you like the Fender look) and they feel and sound better - then it’s a winner surely?!
  5. That’s fine, and we all make personal decisions, so maybe I should have been more grammatically correct and say why wouldn’t one? Still your answer would be the same. The question is, bearing in mind very few have tried them in person, if you had a Fender in your hands and an Ashdown in your hands and the Ashdown felt and played better in every way, would you not buy it because of the perceived and probable lower resale price? You could argue in this scenario you would lose as if you bought a bass you are more likely to flip them resale becomes an issue rather than one that felt right for you (financial circumstantial changes aside forcing sales)
  6. Always, the flames are interesting - however I may miss it and I should probably spend it wisely
  7. Why wouldn’t you look at one as a credible alternative? If I have money to burn, and something hits the remit I am after, I will look at all options and spend on the one I like best. People often say the same about other makes like Sandberg, until they actually try them and it becomes apparent that bass for bass the QC consistency is better across the line. Back to Ashdown though, there can be subtle things like the neck, feel etc which could tip the balance towards it - I don’t see what it’s a problem just as I don’t believe in brand snobbery, despite being a bit of a snob
  8. It’s the Buzz Lightyear of metal - only thing better than one dUg is at least 2
  9. And technically a multifx with EQ, compression and drive and a cab sim

    Boss SY-1

The FI is great, fantastic machine and as @Quatschmacher points out it is a real labour of love and triumph for a small team of excellent professionals. Straight out the box you have fantastic sounds to use, and you can tweak. Source Audio C4 is hardly a monster, comes with 6 stock sounds, popping a new sound to the pedal requires about 2 clicks from a phone, tablet or PC, will hold about 128 presets accessible by midi. There is an open library where people make sounds you can freely use and if you want you can easily design your own sounds or tweak made ones, and unless I am wrong that is a synth. The whole PC editing thing is guff, some people will bemoan one software saying pedals should work without a deep dive but happily use another’s software. It’s there if you want to and not if you don’t, we barely scratch the surface of most tech we own and it’s certainly easier than the programming and code we were taught in school on ZX Spectrums, BBC’s etc. Loads of horses for courses
  11. I know! This was a big lump of Ash from someone’s garden! I am still working normally being NHS, but as there is no going out when not working, and the kids aren’t doing the usual 800 clubs Technically I have more ‘free time’. Defo the spoke shave and rasp saw are saviours here, that was an old photo and it’s further on now. I may have to buy an actual router though for the pick up as I am going no pickguard, and also a rear cavity which will help with the weight
  12. You said before that they sounded nice and vintage, is the reason for potential change because you have changed your mind on how they sound or because you have discovered they are Seymour Duncan?

That is beautifully done / I like it
  14. Cali76 CB is king for me - once you get what you want, you need never nudge the dials again. Pure simplicity - Spectracomp, lots of good opinions on it, great price point. Darkgkass Hyperluminal - you get their SuperSymmetry compressor which does soften and warm the sound, you get their FET compressor which is close to the Cali, but doesn’t quite nail it, the BUS compressor on that pedal though is very good and punchy. MXR87 is a fine pedal and if it worked before for you, it will work again. Diamond is a good compressor too - no worries with that. Aguilar is worst of the lot mentioned. The boosters you mention won’t compress, they are more sonic enhancements and if you fancy that then the Lehle Sonic Spark will do it better, they also do a great compressor and they are beautiful pedals, with the recessed dials, they are hard to shift from position if that’s a worry for you. The owner has retired and no more pedals will be made - you may get lucky and pick one up. Keeley, FEA labs etc. Loads out there and that website someone linked is a good read. Good luck - compression is cool!
  15. Build one this slab is getting contoured but will be a 51-54 type P, long way to go, doing it mainly by hand, chisel, spoke shave, rasp saw, except a bit of orbital sanding
  16. Well I can guarantee (ish) My sound is better, but unlike me it plays in time, and learns a line quickly It is interesting though
  17. The irig should have the necessary adapter, but as you say the stomp should do what you want and that’s good news on Logic
  18. IPad Pro probably before 2018, in fact probably is. I have the Scarlett 18i8 but i snaffled the iTrack One Pre when they were being sold for stupid money at £20 in the last year. That was life changing, it’s smaller than a Rubiks cube
  19. Agreed, i often go bass straight to an interface and iPad/computer, and the iTrack One is not really anymore faff and can sit in between any pedal and the iPad
  20. I am lucky in having a couple of Focusrite’s. The iTrack One is tiny and amazing at its job. I also have an iRig so that gain stages - as others have mentioned you maybe be able to control the output
