  1. Fortunately @PJ-Bassist and @Reggaebass have covered some of my big big influences in RATM and Bob, so I am going for. Kings X - so much Rock and grunge etc has comes from their influence without them hitting the heights, as well as bass and guitar tone for days Boney M - Guilty pleasure (just like @51m0n) but Night Flight to Venus is a stand out album, they are pop and disco and showmanship in a nutshell - love them. Muddy Waters/Mississippi John Hurt - you cant argue with those boys DJ Premier - this is a wildcard as he is one of the foremost producers out there and not just hip hop, but his beats were always on point. Only 3 is very very hard
  2. Can’t disagree, but if you know what sound works for you solo’d in a band, then it still gives some info. Sometimes something which sounds horrible solo’d is the sound you need
  3. I always advocate spending time with a pedal, but with a half decent review it should give you a ball park and then if you know your own scope and likes then you can glean a lot from what it could potentially do for you. I have personally played around with a few from each of the mentioned companies range - for me Tech21 every time, it’s not to say DG is poop
  4. These are 3 that I popped together myself. Lannister (Goldilox) being a complete blank and finished by me (does have a tone knob now). Jazzenbackus routed etc. By me. Couple more friends joined the party
  5. You are not alone, I much prefer originals. If playing covers, I would mash up and change around, but it’s more of a performance practice thing. Picking and studying the right songs and seeing what others do helps with your own IMO
  6. If I was a betting man I’d place a steak on you taking offence across a field of comments
  7. I had a suspicion you would take the Highland on this being a Jersey Royal disgrace. You have some guts to De-Liver jokes like that
  8. But you yourself have semi-skimmed the issue.....
  9. I knew you could be catty, but I didn’t know what an old cow you could be
  10. I am massively favouring my P’s at the moment that is until the next build! Looks great and a great combo - you could leave it no knobs?!
  11. I did a finish where I diluted the gun oil with spirits, and wet sanded it in for a few goes and then used the patented rub in with fingers method, gently sanding with high grit paper and rubbing off with a non lint cloth between coats And doing the same till I got the finish I wanted. Started with a blank, bit of stain and rub ‘n’ buff paste and oil ended up with what you see. same for the neck (aside from rub n buff) to pop the grain. i had done a high grit sand before, I think up to about 1500
  12. I had that up yesterday and forgot to click submit! here is the Jazz one as well
  13. It’s a good song, I like how he has matured, so long as you are not a complete tool and don’t hurt people along the way of your journey, the start matters not one bit
  14. Yep used them, some good ones out there, definitely useful for a variety of goals, worth a look
  15. You have missed nothing. If you want your cab sound and it’s going through a P.A. - mic it and send it. If you want any of the listed cab sounds on IR’s - straight to P.A. You can even take a DI out the effects and have one cab sound out through PA and your own cab sound through whatever you are using as a monitor. Loads of options at your finger tips, just needs a little exploration
  16. It’s in the manual how to load IR’s and yes it can, just a little tinkering and it’s there
  17. I think it’s an amazing concept and really liked the boards, I looked a lot into them, but ended up being stingy and making my own in the end. I would love one though
  18. I seen them and loved the concept and nearly bit, fiendishly expensive tho
  19. That’s practically status tho first glance in this world where all that glitters is poo you think the web site is dated, grown to love it now and their stuff is top notch
  20. They are good to, have them in my hohner
  21. Covers bands are useful if you do originals - allows you to hone playing and stagecraft. I would wager most good originals started as some form of covers
