You can hear it here: I suggest jumping in 15 mins in. So this is same noise but across USB and being recorded into the DAW (unless I’m mistaken) If I use my Darkglass Element it’s fine, but it also sounds better if I use my pedals in front of it and bypass the whole unit. Again still working through it and trying grounding options but that doesn’t sound like grounding noise to me. I also don’t think it’s that widely reported as I don’t think many people use the headphones out on it, also, sure live I wouldn’t notice it but that’s not my main use case. So, so far I’m really disappointed and not just because of this noise floor.

I’m going to have a deeper play when I get in but it doesn’t seem connected to any IO levels. The unit has this noise regardless of output volume, or if anything is plugged in. I can even hear ground noise disappear when I touch my bass but this persists. Also doesn’t do it out of the other outputs. But I’m going to try sending some of the other outputs to grounded devices and see if that helps. Just my main use case is this on its own with a bass and headphones, so the first hour with it has been a little disappointing. I can use it with my element no issue but I really wanted an all in one do anything device. Captures of the SGFX Beta, Mojo Hand Cream Pie and JHS Punchline will be available soon so it’s not all bad news

But octave and fuzz The main thing of these the preamp just sounds better on the Sonicake. It’s not a terrible unit by any stretch just I’d recommend the Sonicake over it at this price point

Mine arrived today, can I check do any of you guys get noise on the headphone out? I’m getting an off putting amount of noise and it seems to be relatively common. Using the stock power supply but with the volume turned down and the input unplugged it noise is still there, so it’s just in the unit itself. I can get round by using my Element or using another output and having it in mono, but kinda defeats a lot of the purpose for me.

Real short review, if you’re shopping for a unit like this buy the Sonicake Boom Ave instead. It’s much better sounding. If you’re buying it as a headphone amp buy a Boss Katana Go. Else buy mine as it will be for sale cheap shortly.

Had everything out last night, basically main and backup covering the same ground. I should have bought the Beta a long time ago.

I have to say after playing with my new Darkglass Element the past few days I’m loving IR’s, they drastically improve the sound of drive pedals, particularly fuzz’s and they offer enough of an eq/sound change that I don’t feel the need for additional eq. Was in the studio yesterday and took the opportunity to capture an IR of my JHS Punchline. The Element is just a great tool, I tested it bypassed against my Countryman and I couldn’t hear a difference so as a DI, IEM Mixer, Headphone Amp with Bluetooth, IR Loader with an amp sim, Audio interface it’s just great and so useful….. as long as it’s always supported in the app, if the app ever stops working you’ll never be able to change a thing again.

It’s been a busy evening

To get into the nitty gritty on the top I’d have a dirty boost into a one control patch bay mounted underneath (with a cable in the loop) out to my jhs punchline. Have a Cioks 4 under it and it’s a tidy all in one. Likely have to add something to raise it slightly off the ground and not stick out far enough when mounted on the small board. Then I’d have roughly a jr (8pedals) on the base board. Have something like a DC5 or 7 and one of the cables can go up and power the cioks 4. My issue is I don’t know what would do with the space for 8 pedals on the bottom 😂
-
Yeah, exactly. Sure it’s expensive for a pedalboard but it’s cheaper and lighter than a Schmidt. Also love the video where they checked it in just in the bag for a flight. i actually thought because the top riser is removable that I could run that as a nano I can then clip into a larger board. Sure it’ll probably scratch some stages but they aren’t my stages so 🤷🏻♂️

Have to say at first glance I’m pretty sold on a small.

Boost is one of my most used effects (not that I’m running the fishman currently) but one option for you is to use it to volume match 2 instruments when switching.

Sonicake Boom Ave is another along with the Mini Bass Dapper. Both are shockingly good, it’s pure snobbery that stops me using them as main rigs 😅

I thought that, more than I’d spend on one but could definitely be the core of a pedalboard. -
+1 for this, one of my fav all in one pedals just a very clean sound vs most of the amp simulator preamp pedals out there.

You and me both

Gruvgear Kapsule Duo Guitar will also work and you’ll be able to put your clothes in it too. The Gator Guitar Vault will also hold 2 Mustangs but it’s not exactly a gigbag
-
My problem is I’d go to my default amp settings so bass at 2-3o clock and treble at 9-10o clock. Becomes a very different gain structure then 😅 I should really have one of these sat around
-
That’s how I would run it. That was why I got the spark to try and get more range in the 25/50 range of the mojo. But as we see in the graphs, they sound different
-
No hate, was just surprised at the tonal differences as I was just expecting a lower gain pedal. its worth mentioning for the OP because the mojo is cheaper (second hand) and if your favour that flavour it’s a no brainer.

…. to which I see they have 3 bag sizes, V (Fender size right?), M (More modern 2 x 2 headstock ones right?), U5 Shortscale https://www.andertons.co.uk/sire-bass-bag-for-m-series/ So if that fits my Ric, that’s a wayyyyyyy cheaper option than the serek plus shipping and duties etc.
-
Was always tempting because it looked so much like the Serek gigbag https://serekbasses.com/product/serek-basses-heavy-duty-gig-bag/ To which the large size fits a Rickenbacker perfectly but nothing longer like a p or j bass.
