1. Can you get a price on shipping for it please. Cheers
2. Yeah and after they invented the first Orange amps anyway, Green is a logical choice for the other side of things ie Bass
3. Yeah those old banjo tuners use to twist back could actually see it moving
4. Very tempted I didn't get on with my Guild one, was a little to hard to keep in tune. Let me check how much I've got once I get paid today.
5.
I just sifted through my lesser used email account and found an email from Overwater. Apparently they are now offering vintage style Jazz and Precision Style Basses in 4 and 5 String. They are either Passive or fitted witha passive buffer system to bring them up to an active output. Just wondering if anyone has one yet? I have been geting some serious GAS for a 5 String P recently and would love to see one from Overwater. This is the Jazz, the finish looks stunning and Im not usually a burst kinda chap
I believe this is Laurence's bass
6. So good I have 2, just don't need a 3rd right now
7. On a new value there is a difference of £250 between the M9 and the M13 with PT2 Hardcase. I'm not sure how much the Woodstock board cost but I'm thinking £120-£150 at the moment without taking into account the Woodstock
8. Can I tempt you with an M13 and PT2 for your M9 and PT Mini and some cash
9.
Tonefactor Pulp Mill Compressor pedal - This is a one off I got from Tayste (reviewed and modded for bass by some Guru in the States) £110.00 Tonefactor Bottom Feeder (Envelope Filter - as funky as it gets) £80.00
Ok so here is some background on these pedals: The Pulp Mill is fairly rare I think there are 25-50 in existance and this is 1 of a kind, I bought this and had it sent to Bongomania (Talkbass) to add to his list of ever growing compressor reviews, he reviewed it in it's unmodded state and then set about improving it. This is based on the old Orange Squeezer compressor and then modded to be much better on bass, this was my favourite compressor for years a great way to get an instant 2nd tone be it just emphasises you natural tone more, if you are playing a p-bass with flats it will add thump, playing a jazz with rounds it will add punch and definition. Here are some soundclips Rounds - http://www.grygrx.net/Pedal%20Reviews/Tone...ve%20Rounds.mp3 Flats - http://www.grygrx.net/Pedal%20Reviews/Tone...ive%20Flats.mp3 The Boomstick Bottom feeder made under the Boomstick brand for a while before moving to Mojohand range as the 442 red where previous to all this it had been the Tone Factor 442 Red, these pedals were actually made for me when I asked for a 442 that was better on bass so a few mods were made and one of the best simple filters was born, I 2nd this pedal only to my Subdecay Prometheus but that's a very heft pedal and can be difficult to figure out this one is very simple and sounds like this http://www.grygrx.net/Pedal%20Reviews/Tone.../442%20Slap.mp3 http://www.grygrx.net/Pedal%20Reviews/Tone...42/TF%20442.mp3 http://www.grygrx.net/Pedal%20Reviews/Tone...k%20Sparkle.mp3 Enjoy
10. Having just spent the weekend in the studio not using my Mesa Boogie 400+ I have to say the Catalinbread SFT with a separate DI gives the most amazing tone.
11. Played this bass and it's lovely almost as good as Monz's real deal
12.
Ridiculous rig update: Sunn 1200s with Aphex 204 and Aguilar GS412 for low end Ampeg SVT-II and Aguilar GS412 for mids Burman MPA and Powerpak SL100 (until the Ampeg V4 gets fixed) with Laney and Marshall 4x12's for highs and fx
Ha I knew my rig wasn't excessive
13. I use to do it as long as you match the channel volumes and tell the sound guy to just set them the same you shouldn't have to many problems, nothing worse than kicking in a killer fuzz and nothing but plinky plunky clean coming through the PA
14. I don't expect that to be a good bass cab, doesn't actually look like something they would let out of the factory these days, they are big on the tuning and porting of cabs properly if they can't do them sealed, could have a modified back on it. Looks more like a 1x12 cab that some one has converted to a 1x15 bass cab. Who knows but I'd argue you could get a new one for not too much more than something like that (Guessing because they don't make 1x15's currently) and the 2x12 new is only £350
15. Fine by me though it is a bit cramped these days
16. Man I'd love that power conditioner but too pricey for me at the moment, dammit
17. Well I feel I can chime in here as I a 400+ and 2 Strategy 400's which are essentially Stereo Tube Power amps with the same power section as the 400+ Now over 3+ years I have had a sum total of 1 problem across all 3 amps, where the 400+ started blowing fuses, it was fixed within 2 days at a cost of £100 never really found out what was wrong with it mainly just wear and tear on an amp made in 1982 (All my Mesa are 80's) and that is the same for the 3 BC'ers who owned it before me never had a problem. In terms of retubing I just paid £425 for my tech to put 24 brand new Groove Tube 6l6's in them, which isn't too bad at all and if you want some 6l6's that are functional and to be honest sound fine then I have 24 that I can do cheap if you want some backups I've not retubed my 400+ since I got it and from what I understand now it's last retube was 5 years ago and they are still going strong however I did change my preamp tube from a 12AX7 to a 12AU7 maybe even a 12AT7 but that's just because mine is a particularly gainy amp. I also had my 400+ put into a Matamp headcase to match my cabs and it looks awesome. All this aside if I had like 1300 burning a hole in my pocket I'd also buy a Matamp GT200 over everything listen in the thread, I think the Mesa is the loudest tube amp I've come across but the Matamp sounds the best and they only cost like £120 to fully retube. Hope this helps
18. GONE FINALLY
19. We need a matamp fest 2-3 matamp heads into as many cabs as we can chain together 2x12 is coming to the studio with me this weekend
20. Needz 2 nice white 8x10's there I think Finbar
21. Still available
