1. I'm going to call Jeff today about making a Matamp preamp as now I have 2 Strategy 400's I think I could get a better tone out of Matamp in to 2 400w all tube power sections than the 400+ slaved into a strategy 400, gives me roughly the same power. So Matamp tone, Mesa power for those days when only 800w all tube will do
2.
oh i dunno i have a gt 200 and matching 2,400 watt matamp 810 and i'd say that it doesnt really have that much clean headroom. however i borrowed my friends svt classic the other day at practice and thought it sounded totally sh*t compared to the matamp so i must like it! the best solution would probably be to get another gt200 or a slave and have the cab re-wired into two 410s...but then again thats silly money. i'm thinking of getting one of them warwick x-tremes or something similar and using that to power the bottom 4 speakers sort of like a sub. The clean tone IS beautiful; it's just that if you're going up against guitarists running 100watters flat out into 412s it doesnt have the power. But once you get over it and embrace the dirt of cranking the gt200 you will love it. That is what its made for. no pedals, just a musicman into an overdriven gt200 and it gives an awesome sound.
I think you'll be sorely disappointed with a Warwick head, Matamp just tweaked Monz's preamp so it stays cleaner for longer, I'll report back when I try it and see if it give much more umph. Cheers
3. I want to say lighter than the head, monz will have to put his on scales, but its an easy easy one man lift
4. OK just checked with Jeff and the 2x12 is £349 Bargain!!!!!!!! That's the official price, without any discount Only available in 4 and 16 ohms though, mines going to have a switch so it does both for my vintage and modern amps Think it handles 600w
5. 410 is 549 or something and 8x10 is 999 but there are discounts to be had if you are buying head and cab at the same time. Also while I think my heavy 4x10 sounds best, Monz's are light half the weight and sound amazing and tbh if you order you'll get a Monz 4x10 not a Tayste one as Jeff doesn't know what he put in mine and I won't let him open it because the pixie dust will escape.
6. Anyone looking or considering should check this thread out http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=57336
7. You love it, Monz was there today and Jeff said someone from BC was enquiring and knew us both. I'm going to call him today about a 2x12 cab they are stunning for people that want a loud sound in a tiny package and for £399 that I think he charges for them there is nothing out there as good, as cheap. Also (I'd have to check with Monz) but I think he said something about offer 10% off for Basschatters, defo on that 2x12. Bring the Matamp love, now to just buy that pesky GT200 head
8. Is that applause noise huge because you're running it through the amp Happy to help I'm hooking Ashevans09 up tonight with another one of my 400+'s so we can have a little club going, we can be all over the UK and still hear each other
9. Just make sure you let Jeff know me and Monz sent you his way I'm getting a Matamp 2x12 cab as well soon, they just make awesome stuff.
10.
My GT200 is putting out 200W clean and well into the 300s running dirty... rest assured unless you play for a noisy EMO band 200W clean is enough to send the front ten rows of the audience home with tinitus * They measure it on a oh-silly-scope at Matamp and admit it's not a perfect measurement but it's close enough PS where are you from? Not the UK I guess
Bah it's only on my recommendation he's gone for the Matamp FYI Matamp build all the custom shop stuff for Hiwatt
11. It does work as an expression pedal for the Line 6 pedals inc M13 I use one for this. Not sure about others but it should work with boss pedals No promises though that's my disclaimer
12. I think you need to get down to the gym since you think your 400+ is heavy, I walked near a mile with mine the other night in my arms. Ya big girl
13. What we need is another 4x10 and another 8x10 so my mesa rig can do it's full damage of 900w into 4 8x10's that we'd have between us
14. I got rid of my V6 in a trade that valued around 700-800 Interested to know about the Matchless
15. I've just sent a detailed PM to Anders about this matter comparing it to other tube amps. I'd like to extend the same off I did to him to anyone interested, I'm in Manchester so if you are round my way and want to try a 400+ you are more than welcome to before making the long drive down south to buy onehappybunny's, not that anyone could ever be disappointed in a 400+ but I can tell people aren't willing to travel to take a punt so if you're near by come by crank it up and then go buy onehappybunny's
16. Keep me updated on the Manchester gig I think I'd like to see this, do you do requests? I really want to hear Strutter and Lovegun
17. The 400+'s as far as I'm aware are all jack out puts and put according to Mesa 500w into 8ohms, 4ohms or 2ohms This is the loudest head I've ever come across, there isn't anything that touches this currently available in the tube world
18. I have a trade lined up, if this doesn't sell in the next few days I'm trading it. Cheers
19.
Nice to see the red faced Simms getting an outing Steve, how did it perform?
They are great, into an 8x10 they are hella grindy but doesn't have the headroom I need for all my gigs.
