Thanks for the links I'll check the forum out later I've already seen the other 2 which is where I got most of my information from I'll be on the look out for one of those heads for you

I found one of these at a local music shop in mint condition with matching 1x15 bass cab which doesn't have the original speaker but is again in mint condition. I know a little bit about the amp they were made ebtween 1964-1965 and are 15.5w but most of the people I've found talking about them are guitarists and from what I've read this is clearly a bass amp. So any extra info would be great, I'm going to go try it on saturday and see how it sounds but I'm looking for a decent sounding vintage practice amp and possibly recording. Also anything I need to watch out for? Cheers

I'd say about 60-80 quid I have one of those in better condition and I think I paid 80 for it from Canada but it was from a friend and I paid a little more because he was strapped for cash and obviously shipping has to be taken into account. The 2000's are really rare but the 1000 and 1002 are the most popular due to the price and the PDS20/20 is the one everyone is after. Your best bet to get rid of it would be the Harmony Central Forums then Ebay if you have no luck but I'd ask somewhere between 60-80 since it is a particuarly old one mine is a dark blue you can probably find it in the post your pedalboard thread. I am quite tempted myself but there is a vintage tube amp with my name all over it. But if you don't get any offers over £45 give me a shout
Suppose it depends how you have the EQ set, but then distorted bass always seems to go AWOL in the mix, solution usually to boost the level slightly when using it.
The distortion on the M-80 is completely separate from the EQ thats why if you turn the gain all the way down you can use it as a 2 channel preamp as the dist channel with the gain off is scooped and really nice for slap.
The MXR M-80 is very versatile as it has EQ / Blend & Distortion Good pedal when used in moderation
+1 But the distortion side has a mid scoop to it which may mean it will get lost in the mix

I wouldn't bother with a blender between the cost of that and the money the LBM is worth you can get a decent distortion pedal. Blending in opinion while adding bass back in does weaken the effect I use to use my blend pedal with a fuzz and blending it made it sound like an overdrive with a fuzzy characteristic and then I'd switch to not blended and it would be rip your face off distortion, same setting same pedal just switching between blend and not and completely changed my sound. Good distortions for cutting a mix depending on the style and how heavy you want to be would be Catalinbread Hyperpak - Cuts like a kinife through butter Tonefactor/Mojo Hand Mule - Cuts like a knife as well but doesn't get as clean as the hyper but can get dirtier (Roady will be selling his soon if your after one) Tech 21 XXL Bass - Heavy distortion lots of sounds Hope this helps
Roland PK-5 > Rack Synth if you just want pedal tones or PK-5 > Sampler if you want Preset passages, I use the Rack Synth method and it does fill your sound out. Also Thomann were knocking out PK5's for £225 a month ago great price! Si
Best option but hard to play maybe I'm just a co-ord

EBS would suit you more a few more options, I mean they sound very similar but I found the demetera bit punchier I felt it would be better for slap but like I say there isn't much between them so I go for the EBS because it has more features and sounds and in your case you have a lot of EBS stuff already and they tend to interact well together.
-
Yeah good choices then, the X-blender will be good on the Multidrive, Bassballs and Microsynth. The EBS is another nice compressor that you migth find better for your setup than the Demeter. What style of music to you play?
-
It's the features mainly I've spoken to Subdecay a lot about this pedal and we've talked about what is good and bad with every filter pedal I've tried. So this on features up and down, Bandpass, lowpass, highpass, sine and saw wave and sample and hold There is no other filter that has all these features the basic circuit is what is in my Gurgle and Moan and it's a really nice filter and the only other filter I've used that can get that dubby fx25 sound but without blowing up your speakers
-
the Subdecay Prometheus when released in a month or 2. In theory it should be a better filter than most out now and fixes the flaws that the FM4 and Robotalk have

My band Our Innocence Lost live at Academy 3 in Manchester on the 1st February, tickets are £5 in advance and £6 on the door. www.myspace.com/ourinnocencelost This perfect if you want your moody gothy/Emo teenage kids to love you again. Obviously they won't tell you they love you but they'll be thinking it
It went alright, one of our guitarists kept having trouble with his equipment though
Was that before or after Aaron North trashed the stage?

If those are your only pedals you won't need the X-Blender

It can be done but it can be very costly depends what exactly you are aiming for as in synth sounds or actual piano sounds. Cheapest way might be Roland GR-20
I would definitely be interested in an octaver (foxrox-ish perhaps), overdrive (tubey, something like the homebrew hematoma maybe), compressor and something fun and a bit unusual - bass synth-like but not digi. I hope that is vague enough to get the thought juices flowing, but not so vague as to deter all future posters MB
Octaver - Foxrox Octron from www.analogman.com Synth - Subdecay Noise Box from www.tonefactor.com Synth - Sinister Analog Soul Provider from www.tonefactor.com Overdrive - MojoHand Cream Pie from www.tonefactor.com if you get on the already full waiting list Compressor - Demeter or EBS are probably the best bets
