1. Horse for courses, I've never got on with modern cabs, I understand the efficiency and the benefits of the lower weights I've just never found one I'm happy with. I suppose I like a simplistic approach, if you want a B-15 buy a B-15 don't buy a class d with a modern cab and then wonder why you can only get close If you want a big valve amp through an 8x10 sound best thing to buy is a big valve amp and an 8x10. Tonal comparisons are hard as there are so many deciding factors, you will find the Matamp can be way more transparent than the Ampeg, but to me it's always been a case of Goldilocks where Matamp is Ah Just Right sorta thing I've never been able to put my finger on.
2. I have a PT Nano you can buy and I'll get it in the post tomorrow
3. For the cost I'd go Matamp all the time, I'm currently rocking a 70s Ampeg B-15 whilst I decide what Matamp gear will see me through to the day I die, there is no comparison between the current SVTs and a GT200, same goes for the cabs, alot use very similar designs but they just use better quality materials so my Matamp 8x10 has always sounded bigger and more powerful than any of the Ampeg 8x10s I've used in the past few years. Also whilst still heavy Matamp heads weigh less than SVTs and are louder
4. Hi John, I'm afraid I'm not much for Warwicks but I am open to trades for 4 strings. Looking at hollowbody's and decent jazz basses currently
5. No worries, if I didn't already have one of these I'd be buying this. This is by far the best shortscale bass I have played
6. Would love this but your fear of the postman and my fear of the south is stopping me
7. Having tried a DB750 recently I can't imagine the TH500 getting that powerful of a sound, I would definately look at getting the TH500 and be running them side by side for a while. Remember DB750s are rare second hand for a reason and if you sell it you may never get another chance to own one again.
8. I've got it coming in at 7lbs maybe a bit under but that's according to the bathroom scales, it is one of my lightest basses
9. I'd be interested in just the hardcase on it's own
10. Musicguard They just this afternoon paid out £3648 on my amps that were stolen which was the full insured value of them. Once I was able to prove ownership the whole claim took 6 working days. I will continue to insure with them and recommend them to anyone looking for gear insurance.
11. Easy to deal with, fast payment, no issues. Would do business again.
12.
Ha ha, know where you're coming from Steve. I love the Boogie but don't need 200+ watts of tubes. I've really struggled to find a decent low power all-tube setup, they're either too small, like the Ashdown LB, or too big like most of the Ampeg, Mesa etc. I'm pretty convinced it's going to have to be a B-15 eventually.
Well I'm over in Macclesfield if you want to try the B-15 out, you can also try my 4w Matamp rig as well but we're really getting into small tube amp territory then I'd like to try the LB out I'd be surprised if it was quieter than the B-15 though. 100w amps I'd recommend any of those Simms Watt PA100s they are lovely and sound great, but not small
13. The b-15 can be pulled from my cold dead hands that said the Mesa would be nice
14. Ah no worries, I'm ok now anyway
15. Could always try my Matamp 8x10 I'm selling it's over at the factory, as for whether it fits your needs I don't know but it'll be the best 8x10 you ever try
16. Here's mine as it stands today, oddly similar to davedave
17. Afraid I'm not after any trades thanks
18. Well you know where to find me when the Mesa goes up for sale
