I always figured if it had tubes in it I would own it eventually -
How would you compare it to a Walkabout?
Why does it have to be 4 ohm? You are going to be sacrificing a fair bit for that, and since I am fairly sure you are all valve amp, there isn't a power loss issue. If it is for chaining multiple cabs, are you stuck with the old 'no 16 ohm tap' issue? Maybe a series/paralell switch to match it would be the way, since you have pretty limited options for 4ohm drivers.
Ideally I want to run it with my 8ohm 4x10 (ontop) meaning a 4 ohm load or a 16ohm load meaning it works with all my amps. This ohmage also means I can mix and match my cabs a fair bit between all the amps. Might just forget the idea and get another 2x12 made. -
I met a company at Bassday 2009 that make custom 3 bass cases that you just wheel in and take the front off and viola it's a stand as well, can only imagine that thing will be insane with my Overwater's in it but wouldn't mind speaking to them about one. Anyone know who I mean? Also I'm selling my Incase dubag I could do ideally with a Harvest Double.
Found it, http://www.scottdixoninc.com/music/cases.html Trying to get a custom case built for my Overwaters -

Might just open this up then what 4ohm 15 is a good buy for a 2x15 that you want to be super big in the low end, not fussed about the highs (they can be there is they need to be but I certainly don't want it sparkly) I want to maintain an aggressive tone to it. I don't want to use the term punchy but I do want it to hit you so tight and responsive might be a better description. Basically 4ohm Driver Low freq response High Sensitivity At least 300w power handling Ideally Neo but a good sounding neo -
I'm going to get an 8ohm 2x15 made by Matamp but the pickings are a bit slim on the 4ohm 15 front, so just after a few opinions before I take the plunge. Cheers

Fane have come back and said they can manufacture certain models in 4 or 16 ohms can you see if your cab has any serial number or code on the back of it, I suspect it won't mine is meant to but doesn't. I hope I don't have to call Jeff again I think I'm starting to bug him , next call will have to be with my card to pay for the GT200 that will cheer him up.
-
Yeah that means 2 8ohm drivers or being fane 7.5 I think it would have to be special order I bet I can get some peavey black widows that are 4 ohms but not sure it would make for a nice cab
-
Just spoke to Jeff about doing a new type of 2x15 that would be sized to sit under the 4x10, unfortunately he can't get 16 or 4ohm 1x15's only 8ohm so a 2x15 would always have to be 4ohms which isn't going to work, so I've contacted Fane to see if they can make one, please speak up if you know of a really decent 1x15 16 or 4 ohm speaker. Cheers

No one mentioned Matamp, your choice of speakers, ported, sealed, colour the list goes on. Still the best 4x10 I've ever heard let alone owned

Another vintage amp from my collection, this really is one of my favs but I've decided I really don't need 2. You don't see the silver ones very often and this one is fully serviced sporting Groove Tube EL34's, I think the preamp valves are all Brimar, either way it sounds fantastic, works at 16 or 8 ohms well 15 and 7.5 but it's the same thing also unlike everyone that comes up on ebay this is extremely clean and well looked after. 4 channels each with their own Bass, Treble and volume controls, 2 inputs per channel which can also work as outputs so you can daisy chain channels to squeeze every last drop of volume out of it, this amp is fine for most people's gigs, Monz managed for 3 months with it and my Matamp 4x10 when he was waiting for his GT200 and 2 4x10's. Not a lot more I can say about it, it's always been my favourite sounding amp, well it and the MK2 I also have (Which I'm keeping because my g/f likes the colour more, but if you really want the MK2 over the MK1 I can sort that out that one however is loaded with old Mullard valves so sounds a bit different to this one but in a more vintage fuzzy way, this is definitely the louder of the two) They have more low end than you'll ever need and plenty of treble on tap when you want, was good enough for the Ox to use during the 70's After £300 but open to offers. Cheers
i saw that a bit a ago, looks like a proper beast. Think they were having some problems with it, since the transformers they got were a duff pair.
They've gone through a lot of transformers on it, also with the recession a lot of suppliers have gone bust that were capable of offering what was required, but they have them now and man are they huge, like nothing I've ever seen, I suppose if you welded 2 partridges from 200w heads together you'd be getting close to size and weight. It will be really stunning when up and running.

That a no then I sit here and think, I can't keep all these amps can I? and my head says why not, it's your flat and your 500sq ft practice room maybe when you can't move in there you need to get rid of some I think I'm still going to move the 70's Carlsbro CS100PA and put one of my Simms Watts up for sale, 400+ is staying it sounds quite different to most I come across and it was my first tube amp it's done hundreds of gigs with me, Strategy is up in the air I think I'm going to try some dual channel preamp stuff with it using a U5 for clean and seeing what an Alembic F-1X sounds like overdriven.
