  1. I know this situation oh too well, being a bass player is like being a mum! You do all the work, be the diplomatic one between egotistical guitarists and vocalists who argue constantly over who gets the spotlight like a brother and sister, find shows, book rehearsals, organise everything and 99% of the time it falls apart! My last band finally started to get somewhere with some decent press, tours, management and a label, and then instantly imploded. My advice, as before, JAZZ! most reliable musicians i've ever met play jazz. Or, if you want to play rock, pick your band mates carefully, if you can find a reliable and non argumentative guitar player, stick with them and keep the core going.
  2. Hello all Up for sale is my Orange Terror Bass 500W head. It's about a year old, in perfect working order and overall very good condition. I have taken very good care of it and it has served me very well for gigs and practices. The one problem is that thanks to the clumsy b**tard guitar player in my old band there is a dent on one side, you can see this in my pics and I assure you it makes no difference what so ever to the sound quality, ( I have now fixed this, you (probably) wouldn't notice it now unless pointed out) I have updated the pics to show. It's absolutely brilliant for a rock tone and you can get some great grind out of the tube drive. This thing is loud! I've found the balanced output extremely useful for gigs and recording, sound engineers seem to appreciate it too, however the signal is very hot coming out of it (B/O only), so I will include a -20db attenuator in the deal which i've used to great effect. For head + gig bag + power lead + attenuator i'm looking for £360 plus postage if necessary, they are about £490 new. I'm willing to listen to any offers! My only reason for selling is so I can afford something a little more versatile as i'm now doing more "la la" and less "ra ra" band wise. Lastly, I should mention, this is subject to change as I may end up keeping it simply because it's so portable! Questions welcome.... Sub Bass Tone

Yer I hadn't thought of that! I have an Orange OBC410, not something i'd be prepared to change just for the sake of a sub bass effect!

    Sub Bass Tone

Thanks very much! I think the Roland is about £850 out of my price range! but does sound amazing! I think i'll give the the equalizer + ocatve combo a go and see if I like the sound of it, if not i'll probably have to splash out on the xerograph. Thankyou for your suggestions, any more are still welcome!

    Sub Bass Tone

Hi I am looking for a pedal which can be used to create a real sub bass tone, nice a clean with no mid or treble what so ever. Does anyone know of a particular pedal that can be used to do this? Or is it just a case of buying an equalizer? Any recommendations would be great! Thanks
  8. I have been playing bass for nearly 10 years and for some reason have never given my strings much consideration. I really want to try out new brands, but i'm a student and can't afford to be buying new strings to try every week. I play in two bands, but im looking for some strings to suit a modern jazz type band im doing, I want to get a warm punchy tone that cuts through and isn't too overwhelming. I already have a nice Fender Deluxe P bass and a decent rig, so strings are a small consideration tone-wise, but it's something I want to start paying more attention to. Any advice would be very welcome! Thanks

  10. Hello Im selling my Ampeg BA115 after a good few years. It been great for everything i've needed it for. I've recorded, played dozens of small to medium sized venues and rehearsed with it for about 4 years. It's always been completely reliable and has never given me any problems, all controls are in perfect working order. I am only selling as I have upgraded to some Orange equipment, I would keep this as a backup if i could afford to as it is really easy to get around and great for rehearsals. Features include - RMS Power Output: 100-Watts LF Driver: 1 x 15" Custom Ampeg Speaker HF Driver: Piezo Tweeter Preamp: Solid-State Power Amp: Solid-State Tone Controls: 3-Band EQ Mid Tone Control: Style Balanced Line Out: Yes CD/MP3 Input: Yes Headphone Output: Yes Dimensions (W x H x D inches): 21 x 21 x 16 Weight: 62 Pounds tilt back feature. Im looking for around £165 for it but am open to offers and im based in the BRIGHTON area. I don't drive so a pick-up would be best if possible. Im really sorry but I don't own a digital camera so I can't take any photos, I can assure that it is in good condition, one or two dings, I will try and borrow a camera soon and upload a few pics. Anyone who would like to come and view the amp or test it out is perfectly welcome! Thanks Jay
