  1. Then you get stuck in the loop of drummer's deteriorating hearing and increasingly loud kits.
  2. When drummers find a snare that is louder than their current ones they have to buy it, even if they're too loud in the first place. It's just the natural order of things.
  3. Can't be that hard to read the manual or website before the camera starts recording though, most other reviewers manage it and even an idiot like me can get a vague idea if a preamp will work for me based on the spec sheet. Like I said they're adverts first and foremost and will be focusing on telling you how great the product is, even from that perspective it seems like a missed opportunity as some of the things they don't mention or demonstrate might be a selling point for a lot of people.
  4. Can't remember which one but I'm sure I watched an Andertons bass video where they hadn't even bothered to learn what the preamp controls do and were sat there guessing on camera. Just seemed really weird! There's much better resources out there if you want to get a brief understanding of a product and aren't able to try it out in person, realistically expecting reliable information from a source which is also trying to sell you the thing isn't a great idea anyway.
  5. Cheapest option might be to grab one of the German Streamer Standards (with the one piece bridge) and swap the necks if they're compatible, usually around £300-£400. Like this: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/8135823993163258/
  6. The last thing I want to see in a demo video is chops or fancy soloing, just demonstrating the range of tones available is fine. I want to know how good the bass is, not the person playing it. Although Andertons videos are just adverts so I guess they can do what they want really.
  7. The danger here is when they find out you have a box of 9v batteries, you'll need some sort of stick (preferably on fire) to keep inquisitive hands away.
  8. I thought it was those two that got convicted of trying to forcibly undress an audience member whereas Paedis was charged for rubbing his gentals on a woman's face? Can't keep track of it, that's before we get into Paedis' preference for minors.
  9. I thought he was convicted when he rubbed his junk on that woman's face?
  10. Loved them in my youth, Flea and Chad Smith especially. Just some magic there, particularly on BSSM and OHM. Can't stand Anthony Paedis though, guy needs to get in the bin.
  11. If you allow yourself to be the band dad once you will always be the band dad. Keys player - "I've forgotten my iPad" Me - "Well just download the Behringer app for your phone then." Keys player - "Which one is it?" Me - "I have no idea, I don't use it" He finally downloads one... Keys player - "How do I use this?" Me - "I have no idea, I don't use it" Keys player - "Well that's not very helpful, is it?" All this while I'm setting the PA up and he has already got a pint in his hand.
  12. All socks have a hole in, you'd never be able to get your feet in otherwise.
  13. I don't mean to alarm you but that bass has a headstock!
  14. Budget acoustic instruments are usually built very heavily, not what vintage connoisseurs are looking for but they have the advantage of not folding up on themselves after a few decades. A mate of mine has an ancient Columbus 12 string Gibson copy which hasn't needed any fettling in the 20+ years he's owned it, has always had a low action and sounds lovely despite being built like a tank. He paid around £60 for it (with case) back when it was hideously uncool to play those types of brands. Around the same time I passed up on an Aria SJ200 copy, really regret not buying that as they've put on some serious value!
  15. Tinfoil, white vinegar and the aforementioned lithium grease will get them up and running, realistically a little coating of any sort of grease should be fine, even basic machine grease, bike chain lube, vaseline etc. Can most likely refurb those with stuff you have lying around the house. Sweet barn btw!
  16. Hope they do an unlined version, they look and sound excellent.
  17. Basically new as only bought this recently, it's been out of the house once to take my amp (TC BH800) to rehearsals and have since found a different bag that fits my amp perfectly as this was a little big. I believe these are a very good fit for regular sized micro amps like the MarkBass LM etc, it's essentially the same as the Gator 1212 in terms of size and quality, nice padding with a spacious front pocket for cables and a smaller accessory pocket. As can be seen it's just a shade over 30cm/12" in width and length, rulers not included in sale although it does come with a strap! Looking for £20 delivered, these are around £35 new.
  18. Costs £1.6k, weighs 30kg, is 116cm tall and performs about the same as a 4x10 or a pair of 2x10/2x12 cabs. Kinda get what they're going for RE the visual aspect but surely the whole point of an Ampeg fridge is that it's massive? Having the Spinal Tap Stonehenge version isn't quite the same IMO.
  19. Bought a nice RokSak amp bag, nice guy to deal with!
  20. Used these on my KZ ZS10 IEMs last weekend on a wedding gig, better than both the stock tips and the Spinfit ones I was using, also dirt cheap: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006960679545.html Also grabbed these to convert my aux in to bluetooth, mounts to the back of my amp with magnetic tape (a couple of £ on eBay): https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235674913502 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/166276877339
  21. I have two, I don't even use amps live! Originally kept hold of my TC BH250 and EA CXL110 (with Basslite) just for playing at home after selling my MarkBass gear and switching to IEMs, however I wanted a more capable cab arrangement for rehearsals and was looking for a suitable 1x10 to add to the mini rig. Then saw a PJB C8 Lite on here and bought it, however the BH250 wasn't really doing the big cab justice at higher volumes so snagged a BH800 as well. That's how I ended up with two rigs I never gig with, may have some dep stuff on the horizon though so I may be using an amp again. I also have a QSC K10.2 which is currently loaned to a mate for his e-drums, so realistically that's 3 rigs. Shameful really.
  22. I think more cabs should have wheels and a trolley handle, I'm a recent convert and although my cab is only ~18kg so a one hand lift it does make schlepping it across car parks etc much easier. More beneficial to me than any of that is being narrow/shallow enough to easily get through doors and up stairs, also having a decent recessed top handle is a massive bonus. For me there's no point saving a couple of kgs if the cab is so bulky you have to hold it away from your body to get through a doorway, you see a lot of focus on overall weight when that's just one factor in how easy it is to carry, albeit probably the most marketable one.
  23. I also liked SD Lightnin' Rods for a fuller, high output J sound, active pickups though so although they can be used without a preamp you will need a 9v battery. Had them in my old fretless and it definitely had more beef.
  24. Bartolini 9J are always a safe bet for deeper voiced J pickups.
