I just use a little Behringer USB powered mixer, no seperate power supply and no seperate aux inputs as it plays music over the USB cable too. Use it with my laptop and Windows tablet.

Well I'm not part of that generation, however I don't see them as being less resilient. Just less willing to allow abusive behaviour directed at their friends and family slide without speaking out and doing something about it. If some old guys construe that as being overly emotional then I guess that speaks more about their generation than it does the "snowflake" generation.

Integras and a Chinese Integra and all three were very nice basses which punched well above their weight. The Korean Integra (an early one with Japanese parts) I kept hold of is simply the most brutal sounding passive bass I've heard, I don't play much rock but I held onto it just in case!

Oddly enough all the people I know who use the term (and by extension go on long protracted rants about soft lefties and how we need to take our country back etc.) are usually overweight middle aged blokes who couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag and would be blowing out of their @rse running up a flight of stairs. Maybe the hyper-macho posturing is compensating for something?

"Back in the day" people didn't bother about a lot of things - our nation did disgusting things in the name of colonialism, we didn't let women vote, our police force openly ignored racist violence because they themselves were influenced by institutionalised racism - these were all seen as normal. Things change, some things which middle aged white guys used to get away with at the expense of others are no longer acceptable, it's just something you're going to have to deal with. The good old days were only good for a certain demographic, no point romanticising over that. Where did I overreact again? You've quoted me twice now and still can't seem to articulate a specific point and resort to incorrect assumptions and generalisations. Why not have another go, third time lucky eh?

Back to the topic, obviously there's no ill intent in there, even regarding the pattern of the other lyrics (things about him being lesser than they appear) it's more a sign of how he thought he was perceived by others rather than expressing personal opinions. That's my take on it anyway, I'm not really a Who fan but have played the song over the years. Besides, it's not exactly the worst thing Townshend has done is it? We don't play Who songs for entirely different reasons.

You realise everybody else is discussing this casually and you're the one who's overreacted? I would have a think about that before labelling anyone a snowflake.

I've used cheap Fender style tuners and they've all been fine, you can get a full set on eBay for £8 delivered and it wouldn't surprise me if they're exactly the same as the stock Squier ones. Unfortunately the cheap-but-good option for Fender style basses is Wilkinsons and you've already tried those! Personally I would hunt for some decent used ones on the FS section here, might have to wait a bit but it'll be worth it.

Wilkinsons have a large footprint from memory, I put some on a fretless (Mighty Mite neck) and the baseplates were touching. Definitely a Squier, I remember some saying "designed and backed by Fender" on the back and the CGS serial is a Squier, however it's usually a Classic Vibe and I don't think they did a suburst bass did they? Possibly a different body?

Anything with a parametric eq or notch filter feature will get rid of problem frequencies. I use a Fishman Platinum Pro EQ which has this feature as well as other handy filters which work really well with acoustic and upright basses (especially the phase switch). It also has an excellent super clean DI and onboard tuner too. What monitors were you using?

If it's a 4 string and you need a neck pickup I have an old Kent Armstrong JVB-1F you can have for nowt if you need something to get it up and running, not the full blown KA but a "designed by" licensed jobbie. Sounds great although a bit scruffy. 92mm x 18mm, screw holes approx 38mm apart.

That's a good point, I'd assumed it was a 5er because mine is and I've been looking at pickups for it!

We ran our RCF 735 cabs without subs for ages in some decent size venues, absolutely no problem pumping bass out. They're 15s but are compact and pretty light.

Thanks for the info guys, am I right in thinking the B1on doesn't have a DI out? Osiris the compressor I used on my pedal board was the Multicomp so it's interesting that the Zoom is modelled on it, as an aside which version of the Multicomp did you use? The older version suffers from degradation apparently whereas the new black box version is meant to be much better, this is the version I have. Also did you adjust the trim pots inside the unit? It's a PITA to do but with some active basses you really need to set them up right. Mine sounded awful with my Sire before I found those trim pots.

Out of interest what's your opinion on the compression? I actually ended up buying the Fishman Pro Platinum EQ pedal which was more expensive but has a great DI, nice compression and some handy filters. I would still be interested in one of these as a spare to leave in the van, can't really grumble at the price.

I rarely get the LMII above 2 on the volume knob, some gigs it's been under 1. There's only me and the drummer who don't use in-ears so it's a very quiet stage, I always DI - no point lugging all that PA gear if you're not gonna use it! I expect one decent 10" wedge would be all I need, want and need are different things when it comes to buying gear though.

At the moment I use Markbass Club series cabs in their wedge position, sometimes with one kicked back on top of the other and whenever possible both next to each other.. They're more a cube design with one edge cut out and can be quite bulky though which is why I'm moving to a full range monitor.

Yeah I was thinking that if the QSC isn't enough for me and I need something bigger I might as well go all in, at the moment having something as small as the QSC is very appealing as I would have more placement options on stage.

I'm planning on going this route soon (like this month soon), is the QSC K10.2 definitely ok for a working player? I use a 5 string exclusively now. At the moment I'm using 2x Markbass Club 121 cabs, usually wedged so I can hear them. I'm 6'6" and on a cramped stage I have real issues with traditional cabs which is why a tiny full range wedge monitor appeals to me. I don't need masses of volume, in fact I prefer to not fill the stage with loads of deep bass. Our PA is a pair of RCF 735 cabs with a pair of matching subs (dunno what model, they've got the older ceramic magnet drivers though) so any purchase I make is strictly for a personal monitor, I like to be as quiet as possible as our stage volume is very low anyway. I've read the posts above which recommend the RCF cabs but I don't think I need this. The smaller size of the QSC is appealing to me as it means I'll have more positioning options and it also looks like it projects up at a much sharper angle which is a consideration for me as it means I can stand a little closer to my rig. Is there anywhere in Lancs I can compare these? I know they're a bit apples and oranges but if the QSC is loud and deep enough for me I'll get that.
