1. Anybody heard of these? Been offered one in a trade (a 5 string Warwick Corvette copy) and can't seem to find much information about them. Looks nice but opinions on them are difficult to find, I assume it's these guys: http://www.shop.roberts-guitars.co.uk/ Trade value on it is £250, I expect it to be a decent bass but also remember one selling on eBay for less than that not so long ago - may be the same bass as I've never seen another. Another £100 gets me a Sire MM so I'm hesitant tbh, anybody got experience of them, particularly what the low B is like?
2. Mine arrived this morning too, looks like old stock from Promenade Music from the price stickers. Ace shop btw, nice guys who are realyy helpful and friendly.
3.
The same set?
If I could get by on a single set of strings for 10 years I would be a very happy man!
4.
Aye I've been using them for well over 10 years and they were about £12 back then. Two sets for £20 is great value.
6. Five string sets, only one left (so two sets, I bought the other!): http://www.ebay.co.u...=item234d164aeb Four string sets, 8 (16 sets) available: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item27fb222520
7. I should have known you'd had one at some point! I'm watching it out of interest, can't gig a 4 nowadays.
8. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111600725085 Not seen one like this before, in fact I've never seen a Warwick Fortress copy before let alone the Flashback! Looks quite solid but with generic parts, fair few watchers too.
9. I think you can just disconnect the tweeter in the 121p and wire the driver directly, I would do that (or swap it for a better one) as it's probably the ghastly little LeSon one they put in the other "p" cabs so no crossover. Does the 121 have the tweeter control knob?
10. Had a set of Seymour Duncan SJB-1 in my bitsa and they nailed the old school tone for a decent price. Nice rounded tone that sat in the mix really well.
11. LMII bass frequency is quite low at around 40hz IIRC, just roll back on that a little. If you have an active bass you can dial more bass in that way if needs be, that's what I do with a LMII/151p rig.
12. I use a Behringer Xenyx 302USB desk, it's tiny (pedal sized) and connects with just one USB port for power and MP3 in, so no bulky power adapters or line in cables to worry about. You can also use a 3.5mm jack for audio in if you wish. It also acts as a USB interface and comes with a free download of Tracktion 4 but I just use it for convenient practice, less cables means less hassle for me! It's also great for listening to music with headphones on a laptop as it beefs up the weak internal sound card as well as giving you some physical eq options. Was a bit over £30 when I got mine: http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/302USB.aspx
13. I've been using a Markbass Traveller 151p with the tweeter swapped out for a Stageline one. Gigged it on it's own paired with a LMII and it handles a low B fine at volume and sounds huge. Not the smallest cab but pretty light, an easy one hand carry. Tweeter is adjustable so you can turn it right off if you don't want the horrible Leson one they ship with. I don't notice much volume difference between this and my Schroeder which I always thought was a very loud cab, I also did an outdoor gig using just the Jeff Berlin combo as backline and it was plenty loud enough, I barely tickled the volume knob. Handle is decent too!
14. I have one of those bridges you linked to on my bitsa fretted Jazz, does the job fine if you don't want to fork out for a Gotoh 404. Everything works as it should and it's pretty solid. If I needed another bridge I'd buy one over a BBOT any day. It's quick loading too btw so no need to thread the strings through.
15. I would say just do what makes you genuinely happy. Life is far too short to overthink things, as long as you and those around you aren't affected negatively then do what you want, music is one of those things that tends to make everyone enjoy themselves so cutting back on it (or giving it up entirely) may not be the best solution. Although it might not be what you want to hear JapanAxe and Jus Lukin seem to be the "been there done that" guys on this thread.
16. Aria Sinsonido, should be able to pick one up for under £200 and you won't find much lighter than that!
17. Black nylons are worth a try if you haven't already, wouldn't put anything else on my acoustic.
18. 8ohm on the Ashdown site: http://ashdownmusic.com/products/1/Bass-Amplification/5/MiBass/44/Mi-10-/
19. Would it not be better to keep the variables down to the bare minimum? It would be better as a test if you were actually testing for specific things rather than having a million different P basses all with different components, setups and strings, might not be as much fun as an event though! At the moment every bass is different so nothing is really comparable, the results might not mean a whole much if there is no control.
20. I would still be interested, the price and styling are bang on and I already have a little cab to use. Just wondering how loud those 5 solid state watts are, if it's just a nice toy then it's of no use to me.
21. Common problem on the plastic Just-a-Nut, mine did this not long after I bought it. Just be careful when you change strings! Thomann also sell them and you can also get the brass ones IIRC.
22. If you just need a small rig and have the budget for PJ gear then the world (or at least the bass amp one) is your oyster really. I would spend a day at a well stocked shop and just try loads of amps out, see which ones you like and then get the credit card out! You said portability is important so make sure you pick them up and try and get through a doorway - not the front door obviously Apart from the really small combos the PJ stuff isn't that light IIRC so that may be a factor. Have a look at the FS section here, you'll save a ton of money and won't take a hit if you decide to move it on.
23. If you buy seperates then you could have a smaller cab for practice and rehearsals then a larger cab (or a second small one) for gigging. The Ashdown MiBass cabs (1x10 and 1x12) are about £200 each.
