  1. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Epiphone-Tobias-Toby-Deluxe-IV-Electric-Bass/263483912821?hash=item3d58dd7275:g:-qEAAOSwCMtae3u3 One of the cheapo modern Tobias range, nothing to do with the originals or the Korean budget versions but still worth £70 all day long.
  2. £112 here: https://www.alangregory.co.uk/music/Pro_Tec_Contego_Bass_Guitar_Gig_Bag_Black.html?gclid=CjwKCAiA5OrTBRBlEiwAXXhT6PI03UXg84eYWU6OTWt1ovkrw0Un_-iuHmxv3q_C1G06kEFK8lpNIBoClEAQAvD_BwE £110 on Thomann too. I remember when they shout up from being about £60 a few years ago, was about to buy one at the time.
  3. Bought mine on a whim and used it purely as a DI on a couple of gigs, sound guy thought the DI sounded great. Can't complain for the price, still keep it in my gigbag in case of equipment failure. Everyone should have one of these on them at all times IMO!
  4. Pm'd
  5. Gator Pro Go, they're about £110 online. I got lucky and won a new one on eBay for £70 but I'd happily pay full price after using it. They're a bit hefty compared to a standard gigbag but are exremely well made with loads of storage and excellent protection. Handy rain cover, laptop pocket and velcro cable loops too. Premium quality of the fancy brands without the price tag IMO.
  6. Obviously the seller is a BCer!
  7. I have the same bass too, the stock tuners are serviceable and are no worse than any other modern budget machine heads - which is to say that they do the job just fine and keep the bass in tune for long enough with the odd mid gig micro adjustment. I recently replaced mine with Schallers (bargain off here) and they are much better, absolutely rock solid with no play and keep the bass in tune for an entire gig. Swapping the tuners out is pretty much the final step into making this the ultimate budget working bass for me - nice low B, great preamp, great neck with wide spacing and ultra stable, if it was a couple of lb lighter it'd be perfect!
  8. Good price seeing as it has Schallers fitted, all those Sires need is better tuners. If the case comes with it then it's a total steal as it's the Fender ABS case I think which are about £150.
  9. Which type did you use? They seem to to acrylic, alcohol and oil based dye.
  10. I used one (Die Hard branded) when I gigged with two Corts as they were about 6-7lb each, was no problem and the gigbag I used had a zip off backpack compartment too for keeping leads in. When I bought a much heavier gigging bass it became a bit cumbersome and inconvenient so stopped using it, so you're probably ok if you have two lightweight instruments.
  11. Our drummer (considerably older than the rest of us) got rid of his drum rack when we called it his zimmer frame. It was either that or a bath rail.
  12. have you tried an old Korean made Cort A/B/C series? Lightweight with a decent B string, I got my C5 for £90.
  13. It's the little details that make Viz funny.
  14. That makes more sense!
  15. Fascinating information, thanks.
  16. I think they use them as salad garnish liberally spread around a roasted swan, they then add the blood, sweat and tears of ex-servicemen as dressing. After dinner entertainment is usually scratching the Queen's head of a pound coin. Here's a belter from the Viz archives:
  17. I use Facebook almost exclusively for bass marketplaces and sharing Viz Top Tips so I'm not all that clued up on what everyone else does on there. Most of the permanently outraged posts I see are from more right wing Daily Mail type folk, usually about how immigrants are eating poppies or something.........
  18. I just use a little Behringer USB powered mixer, no seperate power supply and no seperate aux inputs as it plays music over the USB cable too. Use it with my laptop and Windows tablet.
  19. Well I'm not part of that generation, however I don't see them as being less resilient. Just less willing to allow abusive behaviour directed at their friends and family slide without speaking out and doing something about it. If some old guys construe that as being overly emotional then I guess that speaks more about their generation than it does the "snowflake" generation.
  20. Some of the Korean basses were very good, there's a lovely fretless with SD pickups on eBay at the moment for a good price (that's the original bridge btw, bass looks like it's had surgery at some point): https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aria-Pro-II-Fretless-Bass-Guitar/162865428790?hash=item25eb893936:g:mHQAAOSwY3daZnV2 I gigged a brace of Korean (Samick?) Integras and a Chinese Integra and all three were very nice basses which punched well above their weight. The Korean Integra (an early one with Japanese parts) I kept hold of is simply the most brutal sounding passive bass I've heard, I don't play much rock but I held onto it just in case!
  21. Oddly enough all the people I know who use the term (and by extension go on long protracted rants about soft lefties and how we need to take our country back etc.) are usually overweight middle aged blokes who couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag and would be blowing out of their @rse running up a flight of stairs. Maybe the hyper-macho posturing is compensating for something?
  22. What makes you think I'm a snowflake, any posts in particular you'd like to quote or is it just something you (incorrectly) assumed? Have a little look through my posts on the thread eh? "Back in the day" people didn't bother about a lot of things - our nation did disgusting things in the name of colonialism, we didn't let women vote, our police force openly ignored racist violence because they themselves were influenced by institutionalised racism - these were all seen as normal. Things change, some things which middle aged white guys used to get away with at the expense of others are no longer acceptable, it's just something you're going to have to deal with. The good old days were only good for a certain demographic, no point romanticising over that. Where did I overreact again? You've quoted me twice now and still can't seem to articulate a specific point and resort to incorrect assumptions and generalisations. Why not have another go, third time lucky eh?
  23. Back to the topic, obviously there's no ill intent in there, even regarding the pattern of the other lyrics (things about him being lesser than they appear) it's more a sign of how he thought he was perceived by others rather than expressing personal opinions. That's my take on it anyway, I'm not really a Who fan but have played the song over the years. Besides, it's not exactly the worst thing Townshend has done is it? We don't play Who songs for entirely different reasons.
