Ok, it could have been a DC. I remember Florin on the Warwick forum saying categorically that MEC do not do a passive (DC) P pickup. Then I showed him the photos from my old Fortress that had passive P/J pickups! Seemingly MEC don't sell DC P pups now, but they certainly have made them in the past. In fact I have put one in my Squier CV P, and very happy I am with it.
That's weird, didn't all the Fortress One 4s come with a P/J and either passive or 2band circuitry? He should know that!
I think the people dissing her need to know she is a successful song writer in her own right so even if she disappears as an act she will be still be writing and working in the business maybe for many years. Has anyone seen her as herself without the harsh persona and makeup on ?
A good point, anybody here remember Cathy Dennis? I bet you don't but she's written a few number 1s for huge international pop acts since her brief career fizzled out. Jessie J is lovely in interviews too, i don't particularly care about her pop career as i don't really like the songs but she has a very good voice and the right attitude for the job, which is more than you can say for a lot of flash in the pan acts peddling kids' music.
Didn't Krist play an Ibanez / "Antoria" "Black Eagle" much more than any of the gibsons?
I always thought his main stage and studio bass was a Ripper? He did chop and change a bit but the Ripper was pretty constant. I really like the look of the RD sig, just a bit of an odd choice. Does anybody know whether it's actually Krist's spec or are Gibson just using his name to cash in? Him speccing it would explain the odd choices regarding shape and pickups.

Try pinching the clamp bit so it's tighter on the bass, see if that improves things. The one i have doesn't grip the bass tightly enough and doesn't pick up the vibrations as a result. If that helps then you could glue a rubber pad onto the clamp so it grips better.

Why has nobody wished BRX bappy birthday yet? Happy birthday! EDIT: Ah, too late!

I guess for me it depends on what you mean by "making it". If that means progressing with a band playing music you love, gradually gaining a big following and subsequently playing much bigger venues then i think that's ace, the age thing doesn't come into it at all. If by "making it" you mean the whole ego trip and reliving the glory days of rock and roll excess then maybe not so much. I think it looks pretty stupid when younger bands try and put that image across, worse when their dads are doing it.

Mark bought my Ryder bass from me, very pleasant and easygoing making him an excellent guy to deal with. Cheers!
predator bass.
T1000 surely? It's not to my taste but you just can't ignore the quality of that finish, it looks amazing. -
They haven't published the information yet because they are still making it up!
The news is that the RH450 is actually a 450 megawatt head, comparable in volume terms to the hum that comes from an electricity pylon of course...

Well Shinhoman off here picked up a well used red Corvette $$ with a hard case for £416 back in April, there's been a few at the £550 - £600 mark too. Save money and get the real deal!
I really like the RD body shape but for me that style of headstock doesn't suit it at all.
The RD I had (a '77 Artist) looked even odder because it had small Gotoh-style enclosed tuners, original Gibson branded ones though (and no other tuners had ever been fitted to it) but they made the headstock look even longer and out of place. Stunning looking basses but impractical for 99% of the songs i played!
I hate doing this. But I think it looks "Amateur" . The afore mentioned bridge pieces. But Something about the edge of the Fretboard doesn't look right. As if it's not straight on the 'E' side it looks like the string is off the fret board then comes back in around the 5th fret and then tons of room on the 'G' side. I really hope it's just a bad photograph making my eyes go funny though. The body and woods I actually like. I didn't think I would but I do
They are a bit amateur, that's the idea i think. To get a boutique level instrument you have to put a lot of work in yourself and i don't think anyone buys them without taking this into consideration. Some of them look amazing after some serious end-user work, some just look like unfinished planks. I guess you get out what you put in and this is reflected in the price. Part of me quite likes the haphazard shaping and refusal to stick to regimented ideas, part of me recoils in horror at the construction quirks!
The main thing is its a different shape than Krst's main Gibson bass from the Nevermind era. (although i am pretty sure it plays a hell of a lot better: )
It's an old (70s?) Ibanez, so probably a better bass than a modern Gibson! I think Krist had a few of them, one had a bit of the headstock snapped off. I used to love those basses when i was a kid, obviously a bit rare and thus out of my price range though.
-
So he used to occasionally use an RD Artist during the Nevermind tour so they do a sig model that is an RD Standard with totally different pickups to any RD ever produced? I agree that a Ripper would be a better sig bass, maybe Ibanez should reissue the Black Eagle?
Resale value? Not always an issue, obv, but it is pretty low.
A very good point. You're looking at sub 50% in most cases.
If someone sees something like this pickup only in central bristol sorta area, just grab it, and I can sort picking it up and sending it out for appropriate money (postage, bus fare, a beer) and some time.
I'm happy to do the same in and around the Blackpool area. I work for a mail order company so have packing materials available freely and regular courier pickups every day. -
Quality is definitely up there, I doubt you could get better parts for those prices even if they seem expensive nowadays. With Warmoth you get exactly what you want, it definitely lives up to expectations. Mine had the old style jazz neck with steel rods and a slightly clubbier shape, if i was to order one today i would get their newer shape. The steel rods definitely add a bit of noticeable extra weight IMO. Mine was beautiful, I wish I still had it!
