1. I always take a backup, haven't broken a string in years but I like to choose which bass I play on the night. Both are lightweight and are easy to carry in a double gigbag along with all my other gig junk, they are also both cheapys (but nice ones!) so I don't take stands or have to keep an eye on them. I needed a backup quite recently after replacing a barrel jack with what turned out to be a faulty new part which seemed fine at home, would have been screwed if I hadn't had a second bass with me.
2.
Kate Moss might buy it to wear on a chain round her neck as a piece of jewellery.
I think the BA1 actually weighs more than Kate Moss.
I sincerely hope so. I'll put it back on the rockery now for a few more months.
Keep those to yourself, you're flooding the market!
3.
There will be. Try and find someone in an indie band with a beard and sell it to them for twice the price of a new one. Tell then it's got plenty of mojo and it helps your bass get that Pete Docherty sound like they used to have on records in the 1960's when music was good and everybody was cool and looked like Brian Jones and Twiggy . Technically speaking though, that bridge isn't distressed, it vandalized.
Ah, indie band and beards, got it! And yeah it isn't in the best of shape, I think whoever had it used the same technique to cut the slots as they did to remove the finish - namely bashing it with a screwdriver.
4.
I've never seen a "distressed" Badass. ( Or even one that was mildly upset , for that matter ).
I have one! Picked up a job lot of parts a while ago which included an original gold BA1 that someone had tried to remove the finish from, it's kinda half gold half metal now. Dunno what to do with it really, is there a market for relic'd Badass bridges?
5.
It's just the CS team doing an accurate interpretation of a lot of the basses from that period
It's mojo you fools!
6. A proper USA Cirrus has been on my dream bass list for a while now, I remember drooling over these in magazine adverts many years ago. Couldn't afford one then and can't now, well not without making her indoors very angry anyway! Absolutely top end basses though, comparable to anything else in that price range and beyond.
7. I actually really like that one with the matching pickup, prefer it to the other one!
8. I had a fretless Jazz with Seymour Duncan Lightning Rod pickups in, they are active pickups which were wired straight to a standard vol/vol/tone setup. Sounded just like a beefed up version of a Jazz bass, could still do the usual sounds but also had a bit more thump. Don't know if that's what you're after but I regret selling it!
9.
I do know what altruism means and you may be correct on the second point; but he was extremely effective in reminding me that I have no interest whatsoever in so-called metal.
Check the basses in the background of the vid with the ones in the poster's sig....
10. Was looking at the purple one when your weird metalwork bass was flagged on here a while ago, looks ace!
11.
£50?! Yikes. What happened to it?
Dunno, probably still sat in it's case at his parents' place, we're talking about 15 years ago now! My mate left the country but his dad is an active musician so it's probably getting some sort of use.
12.
Nearly 11lbs, sadly. I had the matching 'Falcon', too. A brace of black beauties.
My mate's was suburst and came in a fitted hard case for £50, he didn't like it at all but I thought it was pretty decent.
13.
Makes my back twinge just looking at it! I love these, still miss my old one but they are just too heavy. And that is a cracking price.
My mate had the guitar version, tiny little body on it but it weighed an absolute ton. Don't wanna think what the bass version weighs!
14. £400 is a top price, well done bud! Why does my local Crack Converters never have anything like this in?
15. Personally I would have a gear clearout go for the best of both worlds! I would sell both basses and get one that is very light yet sounds the way you want it to. Does Prosebass still make those tasty little short scale headless basses? Maybe the little Promethean/Harley Benton/Redsub combos would be a good fit too, .small and pretty light yet capable of providing suitable backline at moderate volumes. There was one for sale for around £200 recently IIRC.
16. I poured orange juice on my cereal once.
17. Very nice these, seriously underrated basses. 300 notes is a steal.
18. I like that! You would have to stick it through one of these though:
19.
It may not even have been a bass. The seller refers to it as 'a usable historic timepiece'... which is probably a wind-up.
It certainly seems like the mechanism for some sort of joke....
20. Plus we don't know what it was like before the refin. It may have had an extra pickup rout, an active conversion or a previous refin. Maybe from the 80s when people weren't so concerned with alleged pieces of musical history!
21. Also important to remember that those spotty youths who just come in to try out gear don't stay young and penniless forever. It's no coincidence that the local shops that offered the best service when I had little money got a lot of my custom when I had lots of disposable income.
22. I think they advise only using 3 of their "8ohm" cabs as other manufacturers' 8ohm cabs might cause problems. Again it's numbers trickery to acheive a USP. I wish they'd stop doing stuff like this, just being honest about specs and letting the product speak for itself should be enough. All the BS just makes people not trust them, myself included.
23. I think some of their amps run down to about 2.6ohms too, not sure which so don't qoute me on that. I've pretty much given up on TC and their numbers games! Other manufacturers do it though, my EA cab was meant to be 8ohm (1x10 with tweeter) but when I replaced the driver I found that it was labelled as 4ohms, might explain why some people had problems when running two with 4ohm minimum heads.
24.
I'm gonna take a guess that to allow 3 cabs to be run, the amp can either run to a lower Ω than the 4Ω they state, or the cabs are a higher Ω than the 8Ω or 4Ω, or (most likely) both.
BGM tested the RC cabs and found the 2x10 to be about 10ohms and the 2x12 to be around 11ohms. No magic involved, just TC playing around with numbers in order to sell stuff again.
