Yeah it's on YT, i sometimes watch it at work when it's quiet! Didn't know there was different versions, what's the difference?
When One Of These Days comes on I get all goose bumpy.
Best version of Careful With That Axe too! Reminds you what a good rhythm section Mason and Waters were, despite all the stick they get for supposed lack of ability. Might watch it again tonight actually.....
BBC4 11:40 onwards ending with the utterly fantastic *Live in Pompeii... my favourite. *some real good live bass from Rog.
That video is spectacular, i've seen it countless times. In fact i only kept my VHS player for that and Eraserhead!

I'm not aware of a single 8" bass cab, if there is a manufacturer making one that could handle low end at reasonable volume it'd cost a lot more than £30-£40, otherwise we'd all be using them! At that budget you'll be struggling to improve on the Stagg if you want something small. Might be worth setting up a local eBay search in the hope of picking up an old Peavey 2x10 or similar.

Have a look at this, going really cheap and pretty new too. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...p;#entry1370360

The Promethean extension cab looks good too. You can always check the FS section here, although small cabs aren't too common. Plenty of ideas here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=129174 In terms of small inexpensive combos i like the little Hartke A series - compact, loud and have a handy tilt back design. A lot of people use and like the Roland Cubes or the little Line6 110 combos too.

The Warwick hardfoam ones are also worth a look, i had my Corvette in one of those and it was a really good fit, very light and sturdy too.

SOLD - ZOOM BFX-708 bass multi FX - £20
lemmywinks replied to Sparky Mark's topic in Effects For Sale
One of these sold on eBay for double this recently: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250889437492?ssP...984.m1423.l2649 Makes this a bit of a bargain! I have one of these and they're really handy, a few decent presets and the built in tuner, drum patterns and metronome are good features. -
I have no experience of the ones in the link but from the description they're standard ABS/Foam cases. You could save yourself a bit of money by getting the Thomann one: http://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_ebasscase.htm Or the Gator for a bit more: http://www.thomann.de/gb/gator_gcbass_pvc_case.htm I've owned both and they were both excellent quality for the money, particularly the Thomann. Our van drove over it once - fully loaded lwb hi-top LDV with four people in - and although the case was cracked at one end the interior (and more importantly the bass inside!) was untouched. In fact it still worked and i used it for ages before passing it on to a BCer! You could get two of those for less than the price of the Warwixk one and still you'd have to buy something else to qualify for the free shipping!
Ooh yeah, may get this instead and give mine to mrs discreet for 'womens' things'.
I'm not sure it'd fit the LM heads, i got it for the Superfly which is longer and not as wide. It's quite a sug fit without being overly tight so i think it's more suited to the Ashdown Superfly/LG heads. The seller has loads of bags though so i'm sure there's something for every head!
-
The Gig-Skinz ones are much cheaper, especially if you go second hand. I also got a bag off eBay for my Superfly, spent a while looking for a good fit and ended up with this one: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...hl=superfly+bag When i get a spare moment i'm going to line it with some thick PVC material from work so it's extra strong and get all the stitching sewn over, should be good for quite a few years. The seller also has quite a few other bags that would be suitable for micro heads but this one was the best fit for the Ashdown LG/Superfly.
I've been coming across Single-cut Basses on my travels. I find them strangely attractive, but doesn't this style prevent upper neck access? Are they for a particular playing style, or are they just a design exercise?
Isn't that a singlecut in your avatar and sig?

You can get mixer bags in loads of different sizes, should be able to get one to fit. Dimensions are: 425(W) x 560(D) x 120(H) mm (16 in. x 22 1/16 in. x 4-3/4 in.)
you can have my old phonic MU502 for the price of postage if you fancy channel 2-3 is a little hissy, but apart from that it'll do exactly what you want and i never use it... PM me if you're interested.
Very generous, thanks! Basschat is ace!

Would this do? http://www.artproaudio.com/products.asp?ty...at=13&id=71 Or is that totally unsuitable? I'm a bit thick when it comes to stuff like this!
Wouldn't a Hartke A70 do all that?
I sold the Hartke a bit ago, it was pretty good for hooking an mp3 player up to but as i recall (may be wrong) it wasn't able to do silent practice. It's also a bit bulky to keep just for the line-in capability as i already have a mini-rig for amplified practice. I was looking at getting an Art Pre a while ago as i'd like a nice valve pre, so something like that with an mp3 in and headphone out would be ideal as it would kill two birds with one stone.
-
Hey all I've just joined a new band after a nice rest from gigging and it's the first time i've needed to practice properly since my daughter was born. At the moment i'm using a cheapo Zoom multiFX but i need some way of mixing my mp3 player so i can learn songs quickly without waking the little lady up and getting a bollocking from the missus. Basically something simple which lets me mix an instrument and a line-in that i can use with headphones. Would need to be smallish and relatively cheap - i'd like a Bass Buddy but can't justify the cost as i already have a small practice rig. Cheers!

+1 on the nylons if you're after an approximation of an upright. Defretting and fitting nylons won't make the bass itself sound more like a db, but it will be easier to make it sound like one if you get my meaning.

They all have sales, even the little guys. Just get on their mailing lists and you'll get offers and promos.

Over £90? Wow, they were about £45-£50 a couple of yeas ago. Might stick mine on there! Ace pedals though, pobably my favourite raw bass fuzz sound.
Because people have expendable income to waste on stuff that makes them feel good about their kit. I 25 years I've never felt the need to tell anyone the make of my cables - I bet the guys in the band of the guy who wins it will all know before the week is out that he has a Pete Cornish Silver Signature cable.
Painfully true. There's a lot of people out there who'll throw money at "boutique" cables. Makes you wonder when we'll see the first boutique plectrum selling for £50.

Another one from (not so) sunny Blackpool here, welcome to the forum Pete! Loving that Vester btw!
