I thought Gaf just used transfers for block markers. In fact i thought Fender did too on maple boards. I have one Mighty Mite neck (a fretless modern P shape) and it's ace.

It was just something that was brought up a few times when i was researching Warmoths along with the old profile J necks.

My Warmoth was lovely, faultless quality and stunning to look at. As mentiones, if you want Jazz width necks you have to specify, my Jazz had a thicker neck than i expected (still a breeze to play) and it was a common complaint. All sorted now though as they offer J spec necks. Also the steel rods can add a bit of weight to the neck. I had a Walnut body so it didn't affect balance but is you spec light ash or something then it might be an issue. One thing is for sure - you get stunning quality parts at what i consider to be a good price. Not the cheapest option but the choice is amazing.

You could get a bypass switch fitted in case the battery dies or the electronics fail mid-gig, all my basses have these and they can be wired to a push/pull pot so no extra drilling.

I have one in my P copy, i like it! Didn't expect much given the price tag but was pleasantly surprised, i'd like to try their J set at some point. I also like the Duncan designed J set but haven't tried their P.

£40 is a very good price for a single channel Superfly, they're very good for home use. Ashdown really don't seem to want to support this amp, not surprising given it's manufacturing defects and poor construction. They didn't reply to me when mine needed a repair either yet were very responsive when i enquired about it with a view to buying one. Seems like it's something they want to forget about. If you ignore a problem it just goes away right?

No more paying for a pickup swap, lead repair etc.

You can usually pick those "3rd hand" things in cheapy DIY shops, i have one as you definitely need 3 hands for soldering! I never got the hang of the desolder pump and use braided wick instead. Are there any drawbacks to using that? Everybody seems to use the pumps.

They rightfully go for around £200 as they weren't that expensive new. Corvettes are an interesting one, the retail of the German Standard (now discontinued) was recently about £1k IIRC, whereas when i bought mine in 2002 the actual selling price was £600 for the Standard Active in Ash. Their used price of around £400 seems fair considering that. I guess there's just not that many people willing to pay the "correct" prices for the higher end Warwicks these days. I guess instead of selling them we should all just buy another while they're still cheap!

Streamer Standards like that go for around £200, don't pay more than that. They were the precursor to the Rockbass range, notice the similar shape (no contours), body wood, passive pup(s), front mounted jack, one piece bridge... Think of it as a Warwick neck on a Rockbass body. I had the single pickup version, nice necks but not one of the nicer low end Warwicks, my Corvette totally blew it away. Budget £400 and try to pick up a Fortress or Corvette. Keep an eye on eBay and you might get lucky with one of the higher end models too.

I know a few people from around there (well Haverigg actually) and from what i hear the nightlife does seem to have gone down the roid and coke route. We used to play around Carnforth and Lancaster for a bit and had a similar experiences in a few pubs there, basically a few idiots take over the pub and the landlord doesn't complain because they spend half their wage in there.

So, I think your plan is a good one.[/quote] Yeah i already have a Schroeder/LMII rig which sounds great whatever i put through it - i used our guitarist's girlfriend's pink 3/4 PBass copy (complete with Hello Kitty stickers) as a backup once or twice and that still sounded great! I just really want a Promethean combo or a Midget, or both! I have no real bass GAS these days but amp GAS is terrible!

If anything the Aria got more playing hours because i just leave it lying around the house. You have to keep those expensive basses in flightcases! Tbh i've thought about shifting all the expensive gear and just using my 3 cheapo Jazzes exclusively, i can get pretty much everything i want out of them and i have serious Promethean/BF Midget GAS!

I've gigged my Aria several times, it sounds the business! It was my backup bass in my covers band days but got plenty of outings, i really like it as an instrument, it has bags of character and tone. In fact i was playing it today through headphones and my cheapo Zoom pedal (daughter having a nap so i snuck a quick practice in), still sounded the nuts! Roll the neck pup off slightly and it's a killer. Cost me £45 off eBay.

Loads of people are happy with their rig and have had the same kit for years. The reason they seem rare is that they don't post new threads every other week updating everyone with news of their shiny new toys and telling us how much better it was than the last one they had! It's be pretty boring if there were loads of threads with the title "Still got the same amp, nothing new here" or "Looked at a Genz yesterday, didn't buy it". I am however eternally grateful that this site has a FS section with lots of cool new kit at knockdown prices, something that is largely due to the fickle desires of gear whores! If i ever feel like a different amp/cab this site is the first place i come to.
