Seriously who is that? He must 'win' some kind of award for that pic.
If you absolutely had to gig one of them, what would you choose - that or your avatar bass?
A small thing that a little wood filler and some black gloss/lacquer will fix.
Cocktail sticks will be less messy!
Put some effort in, man. Ask around your neighbours. One of of them has your bass.
Good bit of advice, seeing as he'll most likely have to refund anyway Unless he's just trying it on.....

He also sent it via ParcelForce (or at least it says so in the listing) so it actually wasn't insured for the full amount. Ou7hined, maybe point out that some of the cracks are visible in the original listing? It's pretty obviously crafty camerawork, kinda like when fat chicks' Facebook profile pics are always from above them, thus hiding the extra chins! Also he can't see this thread unless he signs up can he? I thought the eBay forum was only visible when you're logged in?

I was really impressed with the Hartke A35 or A25 if you can pick one up. I tried the A35 and it was very capable, not to mention loud. Headphone out and MP3 in, plus they're kickback designs so they're really handy.
You couldn't look much more like a bellend if you tried. Charles Bronson sunglasses, playing a comedy bass indoors? If he'd known the touch of a woman he'd put that down and have a word with himself.
I stuck a set of black ones on my fretless Jazz, i wanted good, solid quality but on the cheap. That's pretty much what they offer, better than cheapies that cost just a tenner less. Very stable, well made, no-nonsense tuners. One thing to watch is that the baseplates are very big on the Fender style ones. On my Mighty Mite neck it was a bit of a squeeze. The D and G baseplates are actually touching - i didn't drill the holes btw! Still they all fit on ok though so not to worry. I'd say go for it, i can't think of any new elephant ear tuners out there that offer the same quality for £25 or less.

In a similar vein i find that it's the basses that you play the most that are the preferred ones. My main bass is stored away in it's case and hasn't been played in a year, however my Aria gets played daily and i totally love it. It gets played the most because it was £45 so i leave it lying around the house without any protection, so it ends up being the first bass i grab. I could happily just have that one bass, i'm thinking of flogging the Zoot really, i'd only spend the money on more cabs though!

Dug this out the other day mid-clearout, not worth much so i thought one of you lot might want it. It's a silver coloured Gameboy Pocket, loads of scratches but fully working. Screen has 1 horizontal line near the bottom which isn't noticeable when playing it. Plays all B&W Gameboy games and also some of the dual ones too, basically any cart with the notch in the upper right. Takes 2xAAA batteries. Free to good home!
I posted on TalkBass and it's official... UTTER TOSH indeed. Hope everyone had a nice time venting. Yours, Phil. Maybe I should change my sig!
Well you've got a much better sense of humour than the last guy who started a thread like this, fair play!

Hahaha, i love these threads! However, the OP needs to ditch that Trace sh1t and get an SVT with an 8x10, anything else and he's just kidding himself: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...ding+themselves In other news: Flea is better than Mark King Jazzes beat Precisions PCs are for men, Macs are for boys Tabs will give you AIDS Slagging Muslims off is "racist"
I did email Warwick to ask if they did these and where I could get them, but I never heard back. Suppose I could've pursued it a bit more...
That's strange, they're usually really good at replying, last time i got an email from Hans Peter Wilfer. Here's the link anyway, 3 different guages: http://shop.warwick.de/product_info.php?in...Just-A-Nut.html Much cheaper than i remembered too so i take my above comment back, they're quite reasonably priced IMO.
Or not. I've got the original brass JaN on my Thumb and strung it with 100-45 slinkies recently - the 65 gauge D is a teeny bit too big for the slot and catches as I tune it. The height adjustment also isn't very useful because half a turn equates to quite a lot of height, and the individual brass saddles sometimes get stuck - I noticed my E doesn't move at the moment, not that it matters... I would agree with the above that a good nut cut to the right height is all you need. Also despite the nut being brass and the frets being brass, open strings don't sound like a zero fret, they still sound like they're stopped at a nut.
You can actually buy the different brass inserts to cope with guage changes. However - like anything new with Warwick written on it - not cheap.

Might be worth waiting while and making an offer. That's the sort of bass that hangs around in a shop for ages and eventually gets offloaded on the cheap, the staff will be sick of the sight of it! High quality instrument but not really popular since 1989. Oh, and knock £100 off for the pointy headstock. If it was white you could have knocked a further £100 off
For me, one of the most beautiful uses of the bass to provide a solo theme is Weather Report’s ‘A Remark You Made’, a piece which is actually very easy for even a learner bass player to play.
I was just about to mention that as i was reading your post! I would add that, as with any solo, it's easy to play at first but actually a lot harder to get every little nuance. It's the little details which make it sound so beautiful i think. I'm gonna fire up Spotify and have a listen to it again now. Nothing else to add, er... i really don't like playing bass solos! In my last band my highlight of the night was "Sir Duke", the low point being when i had to do a solo.

I had the JANII on my old Corvette which was handy, however it suffered the usual problem of the plastic retainers snapping off. Doesn't hinder the bass in any way but was annoying, as were the sharp corners which needed rounding off. Currently have the original brass one on my Fortress, much better and each string is adjustable which is great. Dunno if i'd retro-fit one over a decent standard nut, but nice to have.

Looks like nice wood underneath, well done! Looks much nicer IMO
I once knew a guitar player who drew line on his headstock to show the angle the tuners needed to be at to stay in tune. Guy was a genius, wish I'd thought of that....
Not really needed though... Just take an allen key to gigs, if the strings seem a little flat or sharp just move the bridge saddles back and forth to counter the pitch problem. Soon enough your bass will be perfectly in tune and you won't need to bother with those pesky tuning pegs at all This method also negates the use of frets which leaves one hand free for punching the air
Surely the blend on the Tech 21 is more flexible?
MXR M80 has a Blend control too. Both the EQ and Distortion circuit are switchable, on the Sansamp it's just the Distortion AFAIK. Lots of people use both pedals, i'd say either would be a good bet. More down to which distortion sound you prefer as both are built like tanks with really useful features.
-
I love my MXR too, does the job of 3 pedals on my board - distortion, DI and boost. One of those bits of kit that i'd replace like-for-like in an insant if anything went wrong with it

Ah i actually think i remember them being discussed a while back. Want one!
Oh and it has a long way to run before we find out if it is a bargain or not. ;0)
A bit OT but what's your Avatar bass? Never seen the Corvette shape with f-holes before, me likey!
