2. You're gonna regret this Nigel..... I regret selling mine already, stupidly good basses for the cash. I honestly don't think you can do better for the money.
 3. I tried a set on my acoustic when Stringbusters first started stocking them (they were dirt cheap back then!). Very long lasting and durable like most black nylons, i preferred them to the Rotos and they were cheaper at the time. I see they're quite pricey nowadays though!
 4.
THis makes an entertaining read :-) Speaker Cables
Haha you're right, it does! Ta, i'll have a proper read through that in the morning.
 5. Might be worth making sure it's not a structural thing. I had a rear panel on my old Hartke VX215 work loose which caused distortion, 30 mins with a drill and a pack of screws sorted it out. Try getting someone else to play your bass while you put pressure on different parts of the cab to see if that's the problem. When it happened to me it sounded very much like speaker distortion (Lemmy style) so i was chuffed when it was such a cheap repair!
 6.
I think they were made in the Cort factory to Fender specs, but that doesn't detract from it being a very good Tele!
I think most of us would see a Fender from the Cort factory (esp a nice looker like that) as preferable to a MIM Fender, that's the alternative at this price point. I would anyways! The spec is great, shouldn't hang around for long, they should have done a bass version of these, a Jazz made to that spec would be killer!
 7. Good guitars these, from the Cort factory i believe? I'll tell my lodger about this, he's been after a natural Tele for ages.
 8.
Just watch though, every BC-er is going to now buy one, and suddenly Sue Ryder will start thinking "hold on, I can get more money for these if they're this popular!" Won't be surprised if these eventually go up in price!
They were originally £120, Sue Ryder are having a big sale atm on lots of their new stuff (check their site out, lots of guitars) and these are half price. The shop near me had them at £90 for ages, they had a white one but that sold and there's just the blue one left now. No gigbag included on it there though.
 9.
M80 can do parallel effected, which I've found to be quite useful. Personally I chose the M80 because of its' switchable distortion channel (which I prefered the sound of compared to the sansamp) and the mids control, which the standard Sansamp was lacking.
What i like about the M80 is the seperate switches for distortion "channel" and the actual OD itself, the pedal does 3 jobs for me - boost switch, OD and DI. I have it at the end of a very small signal chain (Tuner>Mastotron>M80) so it get my full signal going to the FOH. If my amp fails then no worries, still have bass!
 10.
The real problem, I think, is the stupid industry practice of using 1/4-inch jacks for everything. Half our band have trouble figuring out how to connect the PA together and I've watched them plug speakers into line inputs before now, presumably simply because the cables fit. I use speakon connectors on my speaker cables, so there can be no confusion. It's a shame they are not more widely used.
Huge +1. If an amp doesn't have a Speakon connection it'd make me thing twice about buying it. I really don't see why 1/4" are still used as speaker cables, speakons are a much better alternative. On a similar note i got a call from my keys player the other week who'd carelessly plugged a random cable into one of the sockets of his newly acquired synth - apparently it made a nice burning/melty smell and his synth doesn't work any more!
 11.
Hi there. Is the pedal still for sale, also could you please tell me if it works well with an active bass. A lot of guys say their great, but I read somewhere their maybe not good with active basses. Many Thanks.
Mine works fine with active basses, i've used it with a Warwick (9v MEC) and my Zoot (18v Aguilar). Very handy pedal - i take mine in my gigbag if i'm using a rehearsal room's amp so can always get a good sound no matter what. They also have a DI out which is a great feature.
 12. Could look at Protec stuff, never used them but they look solid: http://www.ptcases.com/items.aspx?ProductI...subCategoryID=7 http://www.ptcases.com/items.aspx?ProductI...ubCategoryID=45
 13.
From what I hear they are from the stagg messenwerks. No brainer for 60 quid so we'll see.
If they are Stagg quality then they should be good, i've liked some Stagg stuff.
 14. Had another look at this on my way home (4pm finish - win!) and it's down to £60 in the shop too, they also have a "Ryder" badged acoustic which has Stagg tags on, maybe these basses are from the same factory as Stagg stuff?
 15.
Does anyone seriously think these may be worth the plunge? I mean, the alder body (if thats what it actually is) is exactly what I want in the P Basses I use so I may invest in one. and it's for charity...
When it says "Alder" it doesn't say how many pieces of alder that is! I'd be very surprised if a bass in this price range had a 2 piece body. That doesn't mean it's any worse (i have a Jazz bitsa at home made from what looks like 2,362,545 pieces of unspecified body wood which is great!) but maybe not everyone's idea of an "alder" bodied PBass and maybe not a selling point.
 16.
You reckon? Without even playing one you know that it would be rubbish?
I know you can, i got a really nice Jazz for £45! I've actually seen these in the flesh and quality doesn't look any better than the numerous cheapy PBass copies that float around on eBay, not rubbish (i never said they were - that was your word) but definitely a step down from the Arias/Westfields/Hohners etc i've played. Do a search on eBay for Bass Guitar, newly listed, BIN, price under £100 for examples of what you can grab if you're lucky. Keep checking it and it'll turn up a bargain soon enough - i got a German Warwick Fortress for £250 doing this. I also scored a Vintage V940 which needed fixing up for £50, when you take stuff like that into consideration the £90 one in the shop near me doesn't look particularly great. At £60 they are more attractive though.
 17.
Hard to say without playing one.... It certainly looks OK as a starter bass/mod project. I suspect that large headstock might make it a bit neck heavy. Just has a better look... it's half the original price. Alder body and maple neck!!! For sixty quid?!?!
Headstocks are skinnier than the Fender shape when you see them, the bottom bit doesn't go out as far and they're more streamlined. I'm not a fan of the shape though. If they did a Jazz in blue i'd have one for £60. I've only just made the connection with the "Ryder" branding too, took me a while!
 18. They have these in a charity shop near me, i pass it every day on the way to work. They have it in surf green which caught my eye. It's £90 in that shop though, can easy bag a better bass on eBay for that.
 19.
OK, just emailed Camden and told them that it's available from another supplier. They replied to say they'd phoned the other supplier and it won't be available until end of this week at the earliest. I called again and confirmed that it's in stock ready to ship, delivery tomorrow by FedEx. Emailed Camden to cancel order. Once cancellation is confirmed I'll reorder from the other place. Not impressed.
Prepared to lie in order to get a sale when they don't even have the goods, nice! Making damn sure i don't buy from these clowns in the future.
 20. Could be useful for some people, i have a tiny smartphone (Sony X10 MiniPro) and the default Android browser is fine, i don't mind zooming in and out as it's nippy. I've just noticed the app costs £3 so, in my finest Scottish accent, i'm out.
 21. I'd cancel the order and explain why. They're trying to sell items they don't have on stock, make sure you ring the other place to confirm they actually have it too, websites often have incorrect information on them. Chances are they're just giving you the 7-10 day line so you don't go elsewhere, it really annoys me when companies take money for goods they don't actually have.
 22.
Okay, there appears to be some disparity between this guy's self perception and his actual ability. It's possible he's delusional, in which case I wonder if its fair to have a ten page thread of posts making fun of him?
Sounds like some demon spirits you've got there, maybe i can ward them off with my huge divine sword? He is definitely delusional on a number of levels, however the entire thread wasn't about poking fun at him, it was about whether it's ok to tell him he's not a very good bass player on an online forum or not Have a read through the thread again, hardly any posts are poing fun at the guy. Maybe there's the odd chuckle at his unintentional comedy which stems from his arrogance/lack of ability. He's put some funny videos out there, it's ok to have a giggle at them.
 23. The blub on the left says: "JAXSN = INNOVATIVE BASS PLAYER. When jaxsn plays the bass, you hear sound like no other bass player, because Jaxsn's focus is to be an innovator, not an imitator. Currently Jaxsn Use his bass skills to ward off demon spirits, carry an entire praise servic" Track #3 sounds like a badly eq'd bass having an argument with a £10 Casio keyboard, it's ace!
 24. I got rid of all but one of my hard cases a while ago, used to have one for every bass but they take up so much room. Nowadays the only really expensive bass i have is my Zoot and that lives in it's hard case, the rest are bitsas that are on stands or in soft cases, my Warwick is kept in it's bag too. When gigging i usually take the Zoot in a hard case and my £45 backup Aria in a bag. I don't mind if the Aria gets knocked oved or marked up (it was like that when i got it) so i don't even use a stand.
 25. I think the blue stain looks lovely, better than all the gaudy CAR horrors people covet so much! Kinda like some of the Warwick $$ with coloured stains over the open grain
