Thing is with crazy German guy you never know exactly what parts are "custom ESP" parts. He sells a lot of basses with odd necks on as branded instruments. I like him though!
seriously, no biggy. it'll be less than a quid to post such a small piece. call it a late christmas present from your uncle jon.
Haha cheers bud, i'll pm you the old address then!
-
That would be ace, cheers. Let me know the postage cost and i'll Paypal you to cover it.

Haha, yeah i love Ghibli! It's a rosewood fretboard, not especially dark but with a reddish tinge.
-
I defretted my acoustic a while ago and it's lovely (miles better bass than when it was fretted!), the lines have been filled and are about to be stained and i have also removed the old plastic dot markers so it'll be a nice dark plain neck. Obviously i'd like to fill these holes where the dots were but with what? I've heard rosewood dust and dark filler (rather have wood though) but is there anything else that produces decent results? Also, where would i get rosewood dust from? Ta! Steve
To my mind, since his sad death Ox's name has been subjected to a whole string of the most cynical ker-ching. These are more of the same. Tasteless and sad.
Agreed. I never understood signature instruments that the related deceased artist never even played and probably wouldn't touch if they were still alive. My mate has a Jimi Hendrix signature multi fx pedal, overpriced plasticy tat that isn't suitable for gigging - nice! As said, kerching!

There's still a few around £300 in the UK, if they creep down to around £200 when the new ones arrive then i might grab one, esp a fretless From what i recall on my old German Streamer Standard the one piece bridge is the same. In fact the entire bass is identical apart from neck/fingerboard wood although my German one didn't have the strat style jack socket that the RB did
Wondering about the neck though, that thing is so thin it will warp/bow in no time. For within the same price bracket I'd almost suggest a Squire Active Jazz ahead of the Rockbass. Thomann were selling off the Fortress Rockbass for under €300 last year. Must have been a bargin price in ££.
I don't think Warwick will allow such an oversight RE the neck, they're usually pretty good with that sort of thing. Also i think the reason the old Rockbasses were being sold on the cheap was because Thomann will have had loads of stock and these new (ie close to German spec with 2 piece bridge, nice finishes and "W" logo) Rockbasses were announced a year ago as the 2010 range. I think the quality on these new ones is supposed to be a cut above the old range, i might scout for a bargain on the older RB Fortress though - the honey-coloured one was really nice. Those cheesy logos and basic bridges get on my nerves though! If they can put these out at around £300 they'll be a steal
Cheers It looks even better under stage lighting. I'll try and get some better pics of it tomorrow.
Ever thought of changing the hardware to black? I think it'd look even better then. In fact don't do it, it'll give me GAS!
Lovely bit 'o bubinga on the fretless there!
Aye, that's a beautiful Corvette alright.
Yep - but I didn't find out until a few years later when I sold the cabs on...and one got damaged by a courier. The new owner (here on BC a few weeks ago) took the original driver out, and it was clearly labelled 4 ohm, despite the cab being marked externally as 8 ohm. I have no idea if they still do that..or why they did it (on the CXL series). I replaced the Eden with a EA500, but it was rated to run down to 2ohms anyway. Never even got warm. All I can suggest is look at the speaker inside your cab for makers info..or ask EA?
It did say 4ohms but there was also tweeter and board in there which i guessed might have affected things. Thread here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=112640 The EA cab is getting plenty of use in it's new "diet" form btw! Edited cos i'm stupid!

Looks pricey, more than a decent tuner pedal. The cheap clip-on ones i've used have been pretty rubbish with bass, this will most likely be accurate though. Are you wanting to use it as your main tuner at gigs for silent tuning? I've been using a Korg Pitchjack (around £15), recommended on here by wpd i think, it's a jack tuner and is great for the money. Everyone who's tried mine has bought one.
-
Another +1 for Hartke, they've always been keenly priced and are great bang-for-buck
-
I always say it but Zvex Mastotron if you haven't already tried it. With that and my Russian Big Muff my fuzz GAS is long gone.

I remember seeing these a while back, however my guitarist now needs a distortion pedal to go with his Yamaha B212 amp and this looks like it'll do the job: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BIYANG-3-MODE-OVERDR...=item25601308e3 Basically the Yamaha has a sweet clean channel which goes stupidly loud but the distortion is poor, so he's looking for something to provide all the colour on top of a clean SS sound for mild OD to rock distortion His budget is about £50 and the Biyang in the link looks pretty versatile. Anyone got any experience of their pedals?
btw : lol at playing the Wii in the living room with your pet dragon while hubby takes pics in the kitchen (pic 8)
We've all done it! I've still to beat my pet Manticore at Sega Bass Fishing...
The only Warwick I ever halfway liked was the old Fortress - which I see they only now do as a "budget" Rockbass version. Lovely sound, and I quite liked the coloured oil finish. But I have to admit that top horn is nasty thing
It's not so budget now though, i really want one (in each colour!). Aren't these Rockbasses the 2010 ones a year late though? Either way they look tasty, wish they'd stain the necks darker so they looked more authentic
+1 on the GT4. Really good stingray sound. I found the laqured neck the only disappointing thing on that bass really, but very playable. The sound was the best i have found for sub £200.
Sandpaper! You'd like the IGB too i reckon, too expensive for me new but if you see one for around £200 2nd hand then snap it up. They were £350 - £450 new (for the 68) but the build quality is ace - recessed chunky bridge and a gorgeous carved top. Also had a series/parallel switch and a decent curcuit (with bypass)
-
Coincidentally i got my Fortress One out of the spare room yesterday after a few months of playing mainly cheap Jazzes/builds. It's such a great sounding and feeling instrument that it's definitely gonna get used more often now! Had it through the Superfly/EA rig and it was brilliant
-
Also keep an eye out for an Aria STB GT4 or IGB 66, both do a good MM sound and have a ingle humbucker. I was well impressed with the IGB, does a great Flea sound
-
That would make the Warwick a December '03 bass. Regards selling these, take really good pictures showing all of the bass(es), borrow a good camera if necessary! Might be worth a look through the FS section to see what similar basses have sold for previously Also change the title to "Warwick SS1 and Spector Euro" so anybody looking for those basses knows to click!

I really like the look of them!

Need a small lightweight cab under £500 HELP!!
lemmywinks replied to willyf87's topic in Amps and Cabs
I think my brains literally had enough lol, I should probably just get a nice powerful head and a good sensitive speaker except I know that's gonna cost nearly a grand and i really cannot afford that!!
Check out that MB combo i linked to, seeing as you've budgeted £500 for a cab a combo like that is worth a look. -
Need a small lightweight cab under £500 HELP!!
lemmywinks replied to willyf87's topic in Amps and Cabs
There's a guy near me selling his tec amp 210 cab 300 quid and he's pretty close to me, yeah in a perfect world I would like to rely purely on the sound made from the cabs I'm using without FOH support, except it's not a perfect world and I have a lack of funds lol, but as long as I sound good through both mediums I'd be happy!! I'm definitely not looking for a huge cab, just something that can hold it's own be lobbed in the boot of a band mates car with my board and bass and still have enough room to get other members gear in as well!!
That Tech cab sounds like a good bet. If it's not for you then you won't lose out in selling it on i suspect. RE the Schroeder questions on the previous page, they definitely don't put out a flat response. There is a well documented mid-hump which gives the cab (well, my 1221r anyway) a huge amount of grunt. On a noisy stage it's handy, especially if your drummer has an old, mid-heavy kit (the type made before drums were commonly mic'd up on everyday gigs). I used to have to really hammer my old Hartke stack to get the required volume, with the Schroeder i barely have to tickle the volume knob Some people on here say they lack bottom end but i don't find that, it is there and is quite impressive for a cab with all those drivers crammed into such a small space, but the mids are quite dominant unless you eq them out. The 1212r i have is perfectly capable of a clean, flat, modern sound - just eq to taste basically, same as you would with every other cab. When we had gigs with in ear monitors (ie when the drummer didn't hammer the cr@p out of his kit and i had loads of frequency spectrum to play with) i got, to my ears, a very modern and "hifi" sound. Really the idea is to try (ideally gig) the suitable cabs and pick the one you like the best. As this isn't always possible it's advisable to buy second hand as you won't lose money each time you sell on. Have a look at the FS section here If you can scrape together some more cash then have a look at this: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=114170 A bit over budget but you also get a 400w Markbass head in there, so it evens out!
