2. Have you checked the mains fuse? It's underneath the kettle lead socket
3. I agree with Bilbo, any decent set up will do the job. A simple passive Fender style bass will be reliable and cover most of what you need I'd advise against getting a Status unless you're over 46 and don't need to appear attractive to women
4. Looks like a nice bass and could be a potential bargain. I'm always a bit suspicious when there's no close-up of the de-fret though, could be horrible. The seller says it's a "reasonable" standard
5. Have a butchers at these: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...&hl=nemesis Or this: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=84225 Both great deals and quality cabs
6. No hard and fast rules, experimentation is usually the best way to go. I often found i preferred to position things differently than the recommended way If it were me i'd go tuner>wah then experiment with the last two. Which do you use simultaneously?
7. That was one of the Professional series right? If so then it should be a quality cab, seem to remember them being huge as well!
8. Yep, if you're amp goes down to 4ohms you can run 1x4 ohm cab, 2x8ohm cabs or 1x8ohm cab Running one 8ohm cab you will get 235w out of the amp, specs here: http://www.eden-electronics.com/products/a...indiv/wt400.asp There's a handy sticky on impedance here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=135

Bass Fuzz
havn't seen these looks much more reasonably priced! any bass videos/demos anywhere?? rich
They're part of Zvex's cheaper range, made overseas and the final assembly is done in the USA. There's a review here with some clips too: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;hl=mastotron Because it has the impedance knob it likes active basses, i used it with a passive Jazz and my Zoot (18v Aguilar pre) and it was happy with both.
10. Good work, glad to hear you got something out of them I find it quite worrying that they managed to crack a flightcase though, i've only ever seen one get badly damaged and that was run over by our old van (mental note - don't let the singer load your basses in)

Bass Fuzz

The Mastotron isn't all that expensive, i got mine for £76 new and they're £89 now. Some Zvex pedals are stupidly expensive (£220+ for a Wooly Mammoth? no ta!) but the Mastotron is IMO opinion reasonably priced, especially considering it has features most other fuzz pedals lack suck as impedance, wave shape and the 3 way sub switch
12. Looks like the "professional" de-fret was done with a rusty spade though. Quite a few chunks of wood missing out of the fingerboard

Bass Fuzz

The Mastotron is ace, currently my fuzz of choice. Works very well with bass and has the impedance buffer so is ok with actives too. Can do synthy fuzz to full on heavy fuzz, tiny little box too. Guitar Village currenly do it for £89, that's who i got mine off Also consider a Russian Big Muff and MXR Blowtorch, although you'll have to use a 9v battery clip adapter with the Muff and an 18v power supply with the Blowtorch, both sound great though and the Blowtorch may be just what you're after. There's quite a few fuzzes you should try out as they're a matter of personal taste.
14. Hit them up for a cancellation fee, ours was 50% IIRC, more if it was last minute I remember getting a Walkabout gig cancelled and getting paid the full amount, over £120 for sitting on my arse!
15. My practice rig is an Aria Jazz (£45), Superfly (£199) and a homebuild cab (£50), sounds great and i'm really happy with it for rehearsals. Will be adding another homebuild (this time my own) cab to it soon too I'm perfectly happy playing cheapo basses through old but good rigs, there's something that appeals to the cheapskate in me!

SOLD

Yeah the EMG pups and pre would be considered an upgrade over the MEC, even though a lot of people quite like MEC. When i was looking at reviews before i bought my Corvette quite a lot of people were putting Barts or EMGs in there I don't know how much the Pro Corvette (Korean made) will be but i'm guessing around £600 if not more, so i reckon now is the time to buy a German Corvette! Have you thought about putting it on the Warwick forum?

SOLD
Too pricey?????
I don't think so. It's a nineties Warwick with a brass nut and wenge neck. Well worth the asking price IMO, these have been creeping up in price recently going off eBay Remember they have stopped making Corvettes in Germany so i wouldn't budge on price if i were you, the only new alternative is a Rockbass for the same money
18. Could give Elixirs a try? Even when the coating wears down they're still very smooth. Pricey too but last ages
19. If you fancy a 2nd hand bass then have a look at this Yamaha 5er: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=86117 Nordstrands and Audere eq, comes with hard case for £350
20.
Thats that then, some tasty bargins to be had but some of them went mental bearing in mind 15% buyers fee plus VAT on top someone bought a RockBass Streamer LX fretless 4 string for £400 meaning a total of £517 I have no idea why!
You notice all the Rockbasses were just listed as Warwicks? Fortresses for £299 and £350 and the Corvette went for £360, plus 15% on top of those prices. Some people are gonna be expecting a fully fledged Warwick methinks, I watched a couple of Rockbass Fortresses not get over around £220 on eBay recently The Epiphone bass packs went cheap though
21.
In which case, I personally think the answer is no. The build quality of most Squiers may be good on the scale of basses but is not as good as the hand built early Fender basses. I just feel that a machine-built bass cannot match the feel and quality of something hand-made.
I think there's some Warwick players who'd disagree vehemently with you there! There were also some shocking early hand-built Fenders going by some that come up for sale Also, just how much of a USA Standard Fender is hand made and how much is machined? If you look at the quality of basses coming out of the Cort factory then you'd have to say machine-built basses are up there and getting better all the time. Consistently great quality, a machine doesn't produce a Friday afternoon bass! That's the thing i like about modern Squiers, the quality control is spot on. I've never heard a bad comment about them. I owned a Squier Standard Jazz for a while and gigged it alongside my Warwick through a Hartke stack and then my current rig. Held it's own admirably and was extremely well built, couldn't fault it and it was better than the MIM Jazzes i played in shops at the time. I think i paid £170 for it new
22. Weird! I've been funny about doing festivals before if i couldn't get a free plus one for the missus, let alone a ticket for myself!
23.
No bass is too nice too gig. If it picks up one ding too many you can always get it refinished. Not a problem at all.
+1 I don't see what all the fuss is about. My Zoot is my main bass, i wouldn't have bought it if i wasn't going to gig it all the time! No point in spending all that money to look back when you're an old man and think "I wish i'd gigged the hell out of that bass, wonder what it would have sounded like at gig A,B or C" etc. Years ago when i bought my first Warwick i couldn't wait to gig it, same with the Zoot. If yo want a bass to hang on the wall get an Encore with a knackered neck, nobody will know the difference!
24.
Go for something off ebay might be a good idea. Otherwise have a look at Kustom. I've got one and find it's very good and they cost around £60 i think. I guess other people will have better suggestions though.
+1 for eBay, it'll most likely be collection only so there's bargains to be had. This 300w Ashdown 4x10 combo went for £115 near me the other day, was thinking about buying it just because it was so cheap!
