Hi Lewis. I'm interested to know how you got on with the strings as I have just broken the A string on my Ibanez too. Did they fit okay and how do they sound etc.?

    Cheers, Ronnie.

The D'addario XTPBB190GS strings (for the Taylor GS Mini) are what comes on the Ibanez parlour basses as stock.

The old one with the "lame" arm stays at home in the music room. Replacing it was a no-brainer

On the original designs you can take the latching assembly apart and realign the arms, did that to mine years ago when it went wonky and it's fine now. Tried to do the same to a mate's but it was riveted together instead of using screws.

Voting habits aside, anyone who uses "gay" in a pejorative way, as a catch-all insult, is deserving of scorn.

  4. I don't think they can be bothered with UK customers any more, returns must be much more difficult/costly for them to process. Couple that with them being a box shifting volume seller means it might be less lucrative when inadequately packaged cheaper items end up damaged. When I returned a bass to them two years ago it was all wrapped up much faster than this.

Would have been a better idea all round to ask you to make a video of the damage making sure the serial number was visible then just offer a decent chunk of money off.

  5. Might be an idea to put the bass inside one of those hanging dress covers in the wardrobe:

Most gigbags have a metal loop on the top so you can thread a coathanger (may need to take your own as hotel ones aren't always detachable) or an S hook through that.

    What you need is

    EICH T900 900w head

    Vanderkley 212MNT bass cab

I’m selling both and will do a deal if you take them together say

    £825.00 ??

Suffolk based but could meet if not too far away

Belting deal that, just spotted the Eich in the classifieds a moment ago and though it was too cheap so came here to tell the OP!

  7. A lot of the cheaper CAR basses seem to be a darker shade than his original veering towards burgundy red, even in early photos it looks a shade lighter. I guess you'd have to see how the bass looks in real life as CAR has that metallic sheen which changes with lighting.

The Fender Player looks pretty close in some photos.

  8. Looks like an updated Joyo MA10B but with bluetooth which is handy.

Been after downsizing my front room rehearsal amp (a 250w head and 1x10 EA cab is overkill right?) for a while and did look at these but reports on the Joyo were a bit underwhelming, then again if it's usable and £33 then it's hard to complain.

Yeah, I was thinking about going to town on it with the paint but I could also do a vinyl wrap thing, might be more successful.... I will investigate. Nothing shall happen quickly anyways

Fabric and epoxy might be an option, quite a few people getting good results

That's an ace channel btw, you should all subscribe!

  10. A cheap "fix" for a dying Micro USB port is to get one of the magnetic cables with the corresponding adapter which permanently lives in there. I have a couple of old devices I use these with to keep them alive and save wear and tear on the port.

Some are charge only and some have the data lines present.

  11. Tried the MW-1 again straight from my Fishman Platinum Stage DI set to pre eq, was much better but the P2 (or rather the AE knockoff which was within easy reach) was at its limit. Tried it again through my Soundcraft Notepad 5 and could get ok results, however directly comparing the wireless sound to wired it seems to compress a bit and lose some low end.

The distortion is weird, doesn't sound like clipping but just an intermittent bit of background inteference fuzz on louder notes. Much more prominent right after changing channels and then settles down a bit, will try on the XR18 as I suspect the power supply on my Soundcraft may be on its way out as if I leave it plugged in (there's no power switch) when not in use it produces an annoying whine. Failing cap or something?

It does "work" but there were issues with the signal when I tried it at home, like little dips in volume and momentary distortion which I attributed to the signal incompatibility. Had a similar experience when trying to use a wireless guitar dongle that didn't like active or high output basses. I've had worse monitoring at gigs tbh but it wasn't ideal!

It works fine with a mic.

Need to drop from line to mic level. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/395585727027 may get you there (depending upon the real world tolerances of the Lekato input). Worth a try, if not, two in series will drop you to -40db which will get easily get you within the realms of mic level. (An attenuator (or in worse case, two) with minimal output on the aux send should get you there though.)

I was looking at those, couldn't find a 40db version cheap enough to chance it (they were about £80) but didn't know you could daisy chain them. I did try it with my small desk dropping the signal way down until it was workable but the P2 doesn't have enough power to compensate for this so it's just too quiet without another preamp in there.

Can get these for around £80 and they claim to be line level friendly so might just treat myself to one for Christmas:
