1. I thought it was a reference to the description, which contained no punctuation and sounded like Vicky Pollard's constant talking without a gap?
2. If he doesn't want any less than £450 then surely putting the BIN at £325 isn't the best idea? Looks quite nice though, good deal
3. Ok just pm me your address and i'll send 2 out
4. Oh forgot to add, don't leave these in water for ages as there's only a thin coat of varnish on them. I just did one and i left it in for 15-20 seconds, that was enough.
5. Ok matey no worries. I don't want any cash for them, if you want to make a small donation to BC then that's cool. Like i said i don't want to make a profit for em, don't want any Lawyers knocking on my door!
6. Not sure if this sort of thing is allowed so if not please remove the thread, they're free though and strictly for personal projects! Ta Steve
7. Just done a little digging and it seems that these use a dual-coil woofer so impedance switching would actually work. Was getting worried that another accuswitch debacle was on the cards! I'm even more interested in these now!
8. Don't do it, wait until you have the bass before leaving feedback. If you don't you'll have no comeback on it as you have already said you are happy with it I had someone actually say they couldn't afford to post an item unless i left feedback and the money went through Sounds dodgy, play it safe
9.
I may just do that.. Unfortunately I have no idea where to price it as there seems to be no other examples of this bass kicking around anywhere.
Don't sell it yet, i can't afford/store another bass!
10. There's a clamp design on ths site: http://www.jhs.co.uk/stringswing.html
11. That's the first 'Ray i've liked the look of in ages, nice collection!
12. Someone on here (Sibob?) was selling a Squier Bronco shorty for £50. Interparcel will deliver it for £8, i'd bag that if i were you
13. I'd proably be looking for a 2nd hand ESP LTD or Ibanez I played a really good LTD SG style bass a while ago, had a huge tone from two massive EMG humbuckers, woulda been great for metal. I'd have a serious look at this one though, very cheap and should sound beastly: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ESP-Ltd-F-104-F104-F...=item3a571450f9
14.
Presumably that means the buffer has to be inboard, then routed to the master volume? A stacked pot sounds good.
I think so, that's how i'm having it. Hopefully i'll have vol/vol/tone for the mag pups, usual jazz configuration. Then a stacked vol/tone for the piezo. My tech is also gonna put a series/parallel switch in for the mag pickups so hopefully i should be able to get quite a few really different sound out of it
15.
Neat little box. I've already got an outboard Sadowsky that could control the final tone of the bass, Would that do? I guess I'd still need some kind of blend pot? Th bass only has tone and vol. Interesting thread.
I'm no expert and would appreciate verification, but i thought the buffer preamp would come before the volume/blend pot, so the impedance matches the mag pickups before it goes to the output jack? Like i said, i'm just assuming that and not basing it on any technical knowledge whatsoever! You could always look at a stacked pot if you don't want to drill any more holes in the bass/pickguard. That's what i'm doing, also takes up less space in the cavity
16. Horrible listing maybe, but that bass looks sweet and for £165 delivered someone got an absolute bargain there Wish i'd seen it, would probably have bid on it and Mrs. Lemmywinks would have to wait another few months for a new sofa!
17.
Will an outboard preamp do the biz for a piezo? I wouldn't want to rout out my passive bass, but the mod sounds mighty attractive. Also, do you have to have an extra tone control for the piezo? fatback
Here's one i was looking at, can be mounted in a small box: http://www.scotthelmke.com/Mint-box-buffer.html The one i linked to before is also small and can be made into an outboard unit. Correct me if i'm wrong but i thought the puropse of the buffer is to match the impedance of the mag pickups, so i guess you'd need a seperate output fitting to the bass and some way of blending the two signals? And no i don't think you need a tone control, i'm having one fitted because i can remember my old acoustic bass having a piezo that had quite harsh, overbearing treble and this needed to be rolled off. I'd rather have the option than not, at least until i've heard what the bass sounds like
18. I'm having one of those eBay bridges fitted to my fretless Jazz, it's just gone in to my tech today. I think this is the preamp design he's putting in the bass: http://www.till.com/articles/GuitarPreamp/index.html If you want one a bit cheaper v8bass was selling his, think he's overseas though so don't know what the final cost would be. I'm having mine wired to a vol/tone so i can roll off the treble if needed, hopefully i can get a nice acoustic-type sound out of it. A few people on the threads said it was double bass-esque which is what i'm hoping for There's a few threads regarding piezo bridges, have a quick search and there's some useful information from people who have retro-fitted one. If the bass hasn't got a spacious control cavity you'll need to rout one to make room for the battery, pre and extra pot(s). It'll also need a channel drilling and a little recess making for the piezo cable. Mine used to be active so that's not an issue for me When it's all done i'll let you know the results if you're interested? My tech is really busy at the moment so might not be too soon though Ta Steve
19. Aye i'd like to know a price, looks like a neat little cab. Also how does it switch between 4 and 8 ohms? EDITed for terrible spelling!
20. My housemate's old Kickback 15 kicked out a lot of low end, not too heavy either Have you thought about a 2nd hand Superfly/Little Giant and a 2x10 cab? I use a Superfly and a 1x12 4ohm cab for quiet practice/rehearsal and it does the trick, the cab was £50 and the heads go for £100 used. Soundslive have an ex-display LG1000 at £219: http://www.soundsliveshop.com/p/Ashdown_Li.../ASH-EX-LTG1000 There's also an Ashdown mini-rig on here at £125: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=74307
21. Didn't WoT have a walnut Precision a while back? Maybe give him a shout
22. What a gorgeous bass, one of the nicest Jazzes i've seen. Drop me a pm if you decide to sell it!
23. I only put that because on my acoustic bass there is a passive volume and tone control. To get any sort of decent bass sound out of it the tone has to be completely rolled back as the treble from the piezo is quite harsh. if it's not necessary then it can be omitted
