I'd be looking for around £400-£500 each plus expenses tbh, that's 3 days work for 16 people so they'll be expecting a large sum. If you don't ask you don't get?! We're doing a gig on the Isle of Man next year and that'll be over £1500 for a 4 piece, 2 days work

That's a bargain! Looks as though the "knob" is actually a broken string tree though, probaly just screw it back in? All the knobs look to be intact, if it's like the one i used it should be volume/bass/treble. From memory it sounds pretty good, the pre is a little cheap-sounding and it doesn't feel too much like a 'Ray. But hey, £15!

If he were to play a bass he preferred to his Wal today there's a chance he'd buy it I don't chop and change my rig, I've only really gigged with 2 basses and 2 amps (although the Hartke rig was upgraded gradually before i sold it). If i find something that improves my sound straight away then i think about making the purchase. The Zoot i own gives me the freedom to play different techniques live because it's a brilliantly designed and emminently playable instrument, Bilbo's Wal is in the same category so i don't think he's ever found any shortcomings in his bass which he couldn't work around with technique. It suits him down to the ground Alexclaber found several shortcomings in basses he owned, knew exactly what he wanted and took the steps to ensure he had an instrument which suited him. That's the difference between changing gear for the sake of it and upgrading because of a specific purpose. If you're amp is too quiet you get a louder one!

Trying new stuff out to see if you like it, if it can add something to your sound? There's 3 basses i own that i would be happy to use as my main instrument. I use the best looking and sounding one, the Zoot. It is a custom order but i bought it second hand for under £750, less than a new Fender and half the price of a new Stingray. It beats them both hands down I bought it because i had always liked the Zoot Chaser, the off-the-shelf model made by Iceni. Mine was cheaper and nicer, like buying a 2nd hand custom shop Fender over the USA Standard If i needed a new bass and had the cash i'd have no worries about ordering a Zoot or a Shuker, ACG etc. They're just superb basses, end of. The fact that i could take say a Warwick down and have the neck profile copied is icing on the cake

It still sounds good.[/quote] +1 All my active basses can be switched into passive mode, only needed to call on it once but i was grateful it was there You don't get any tone control though as it bypasses the eq, unless the bass has a seperate passive tone pot The Aero pickups on my Zoot sound fantastic in pasive mode too

I cringed as i opened it, expecting broken glass and plastic but it was fine. 9 times out of 10 i reckon that would have been damaged though

Most will insure it for the full amount as long as you pay. I think i read somewhere that some couriers insist on the package being able to withstand a 1m drop I use Interparcel who ship for £8 with £50 insurance, more if you pay extra. I've never had any problems with them. I think Porcel Farce have £150 as standard but will easily cover an expensive bass if you pay extra It'd probably work out better to get the buyer to pay £40 for a hard case instead of extra insurance though.

Or a pedal tuner, most will mute the signal when tuning. What's it like with the volume on the bass down? I assume your getting hum/hiss from the amp

I've shipped 4 basses with Interparcel and have had no problems with their budget/economy service They use UPS and it costs £8.20 with Paypal. Usually have to print the labels yourself though That's the cheapest i know of for basses and cabs, obviously if you want to insure it for more than the paltry amount then it'll cost more. They'll ship a bass in a full flightcase too, a lot of companies charge extra for items over 1m

I've heard of the clips breaking on the Warwick ones, so they fall off the shoulder which isn't ideal I used mine for years before getting a hard case and never had any problems though

If you know another BCer close by maybe you could use them as a 3rd party (or bag-man ) Jamie hadn't been a member for long when we did the deal and hadn't got any feedback, a big oversight on my part. If someone has been a member for a while it's likely other BCers have been to their house, have them on MSN and Facebook, etc. It's surprising just how much information you can get on someone just by having a few details. I was able to contact Jamie's family, friends, band members (and their families), also finding out about projects he had been involved with with more information and cotact numbers. All from an hour with a search engine How ever it did mean i had to listen to TRex videos on youtube so it wasn't all easy
