1. Hi

I'd like to add a piezo bridge to my bitsa fretless. It's a J type with an active circuit

I'm assuming that after drilling the hole from the bridge to the control cavity it would be a simple matter of fitting a blend pot and attaching the wires from the different pickups to this, possibly including a volume pot for the piezo. Please pardon my ignorance (i'll be getting a hired lackey to do all this btw so i don't destroy my bass) but would i be able to take the signal from the piezo through the blend pot and then to the active circuit? Or would the piezo signal have to be independent of this?

    Cheers for any help

    Steve

  2. How much was yours up at?

I didn't really know what to value it at, the last one that sold on here went for £375. That was a passive version with no case, had a MM scratchplate though, it was also priced for a quick sale

As this one is the active version and has a quality case i thought an extra £35 was about right

Now if that other Curbow will just go then I won't have to worry about remembering to lock myself out of my PayPal account before coming on this forum.
How much is the other Curbow up at? Don't remember a price being on it. Played one of the Tanglewood ones when they came out and was suitably impressed.

I reckon you should get it, you'll regret it later! Comes in a nice gig bag too.....

  4. I'll have a look at the action when i get a chance (gigs this weekend) as it's a bit too high for my liking, feels strangely nice to play though, maybe not for a full gig!

Just thought i'd mention that my mate has hardly played this. He bought it along with a USA Hartke Kickback 15 (spent around a grand i think) then lost interest in bass. I've gigged it a few times when my Warwick was playing up but that's about all the action it's seen. I think the pitting on the control plate (there's also a little on the bridge but not much) is simply down to it being stored in a case for months on end

It's been out on loan with a learner for a bit but i don't think he did much with it

  5. Selling this for my housemate.
It's a SUB4 in the bluey (or whatever it's actually called!) colour, active pre amp.

It's in great condition apart from a couple of dings on the headstock (pictured, a little bit of marker pen disguises them almost completely), a tiny ding on the top edge of the neck (shown in the pics) and some pitting on the control plate (again shown).

Comes with a Gator-style ABS case he bought seperately. The strap which holds this open at an angle is broken, this could be repaired or removed, either way the case is fully functional and in great nick.

He's looking for £410 collected from Blackpool, can post at buyers expense. Feel free to come try it out, there should be a few amps to try it out with depending on whether my gear is here or not. Either way we'll have a couple of Hartke combos and a Ashdown/Hartke rig knocking about the house

EDIT: I'll try to get some better pics up soon when i get acces to a decent camera. That's not a crazy spider thing on the control plate btw, it's the reflection of our light fitting!

  6. £1600 on eBay too

  7. I had a distinct lack of mwah on my Warmoth when i got it, first thing i did was cut the nut slots down a little, almost bottom the action out and fit a set of Elixirs. Loads of mwah now!

Incidentally my old Jazz had bags of mwah, that was a de-fretted rosewood board with cheap rounds on, it was more fretless-sounding than i actually wanted as sometimes i just wanted to play a standard note and it wouldn't let me!

  8. Feel free to bid on it, i bid very casualy nowadays cos i've got to sell my Warmoth and don't want loads of basses. I'd rather this go to someone from here, if only so i can snatch it at a later date!

I think my Zoot will be staying with me now

Wesfinn's bass is an absolute bargain, if my Warmoth goes i'll be having a serious look at that if it's still there

  9. I just got outbid on this one:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=200359389640

Proper custom for £400, barts and aguilar pre

Missus comes over in final minute of bidding, asks for me to look for fancy dress stuff for her. After hurriedly closing down this window i lost out by £9

  10. I think the Chasers and Performers were about £900 new and they don't hold their value all that well. The deluxe customs are a little better for that, mine was around £750 2nd hand but that's pretty much top spec and the dealer i bought it off paid under £600 for it

Looks like the owner of the Performer in the listing has had a go at "restoration" on the ash body though. The price is still great though, i doubt you'd get a better bass for that much cash

I was set on trading or selling mine but i was jamming some Stevie Wonder with the boys the other night and it's starting to persuade me otherwise! Were you thinking of having a punt on this one?

  11. I had my eye in the IGB with the big MM pickup and active circuit, the one i was looking at was around £400 in the shop and looked/felt excellent
Nice solid, recessed bridge on the one i tried too

    EDIT: This one:
