1. Postage stayed the same when i ordered from them, dunno if they still do that. I work in mail order and know exactly what delivery costs so i hate it when companies charge a fortune for postage, as a rule if they're making sneaky profits from postage then i buy elsewhere
2.
Until you add the postage costs.
I think it was 2 or 3 quid last time i ordered from them, not too extortionate compared to some places. I got 2 EHX adapters and a reverse polarity adapter for around £15 posted
3.
its not ugly! I know i said i like stingrays but they are way out of my price range. But this is also nice and only £400.
Get a second hand SUB! There was one on here for £350 and i sold my housemate's for £380 with an ABS hard case Proper USA made 'Ray for peanuts
4. Effectpowersupplies also do these for £3.99. http://www.effectpowersupplies.com/9v-batt...adaptor-9-p.asp They're like Diago but not stupidly expensive!
5.
+ 3600
6. Quick update, this turned up 10 minutes ago. Apart from a little ding by the jack socket it's mint. Looks like it's hardly been played. The seller also included what i presume to be a vol-vol-tone wiring he had going spare, nice of him and i think i'll find a home for it when i get my fretless piezo'd up Will post piccys in the porn thread when i get home!
7. I always love a good J, the best ones aren't always the most expensive ones. Some cheapys just have that sound that i look for Interestingly i played a Mex Precision with a J at the bridge tonight. Apart from the awful, noisy active circuit in it i could coax a really good P sound and a great Jaco sound out of it with just a roll of the pickup blend, with very little compromise. If i hadn't had to adjust my playing to keep the electrics in check i reckon there's miles more sweet sounds in that bass
8.
Dont dump it. Make a humorous video for us. Plug something far too loud into it with the grill off so we can see the cone struggle and fail or summat! Destruction!!!!
Listen to this man, Dom. He speaks sense!
I need a lie down!GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know this doesn't help, but Zoots have been selling for silly low money recently. We're talking £300 - £400, one of those was a custom too. I've actually had to restrain myself from buying another!
10. Excellent amps these, plenty loud enough to hold their own in a busy band. Orange watts are huge watts!
11. Hahahaha! Excellent! Anyone gonna check it out?
12. So far.... Stagg EUB Cort Curbow 5er (now sold on) Aria STB Jazz Warwick Fortress Incoming..... Small bedroom cab (for occaisional small gig use, to go with my Superfly) Another cheapo Jazz for messing around with Another Warwick Outgoing.... Warmoth fretless Hartke VX215
13. Hi Tony, good to see more locals on here! I'm just down the road in Cleveleys and there's a few others in Preston [spits] and the Blackpool/Lytham areas Welcome to the forum, it's a great resource, even though it's made me spend lots of money!
14. If you're after an 80s metal sound surely a Precision would be your best bet. As said, the Squier CV and VM ranges are consistently excellent, have a look at this one: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...5&hl=squier Even if you decide to upgrade later you'll get most if not all of your money back on this, plus it would be a dependable back up if you wanted to keep hold of it The best bet is just to go play a few and decide what you like. If you find a great bass for a decent price then buy it, you've certainly got an enviable budget! EDIT: Or this: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;#entry586155
15. I actually have the reverse problem, it sounds quiter when i slap! I have quite a mid-heavy sound so some of this is lost when slapping. I used to use a mini volume boost pedal (like a Catalinbread) but now use the clean channel on my MXR M80 for a volume boost, it also has a 3 band eq too. I'd imagine you could use it to lessen the volume, although a decent compressor sounds like a good plan
16.
Mine's totally original and pretty pristine. G.
That looks superb, the build quality looks top drawer on that one
17.
The comments above are very unfair on Mike..... if he owes for advertising here then thats down to the Admin to sort out...... not for folk here to snipe at!!!
Might get him pay up though? FWIW my Zoot is ace, awesome bass. Mike obviously knows how to make excellent instruments, he seems a little bit lacksadasical on the business side of things.
18.
At that price its worth putting up with the stiffy/viagra jokes that will be inevitable when playing it.
Have you seen my avatar bass? I get enough of those already!
19. Sounds like you were pretty happy with the GK and Schroeder! Why do you just want a combo, for portability and convenience?
20.
Or find a Black Russian like mine which benefits from loose tolerances! Alex
+1 My Black Russian Muff kicks ass!
21. The price is pretty decent, although these are the forerunner to the Rockbass range. I had one of these and didn't really like it, pickup sounded a bit weak to my ears, certainly looks nice though. My Corvette absolutely spanked it when it came to sound and playability One thing i would add is that it's the standard size Warwick cavity rout, so if you wanted to add an active eq and change the pickup there's loads of room to play with and you wouldn't need to actually do any routing. I was thinking about sticking a MM sized humbucker and active circuit in mine but ended up flogging it for about £200
22.
Git!!!! i emailed for some pics as ive git one already and wanted a second one for while! oh well you snooze you loose!! hope it works out for you these are amazing basses and i'd never part with mine for anything!!
Yeah i was gonna email him first but thought it wouldn't stay there long. You don't need 2 anyway, that's just greedy! I've been GASsing for one of these for aaaaaages, missed a few very good deals (one cheaper than this one, although a bit battered) so hopefully i've finally scored one of my 3 favourite bass shapes. Only a Tobias to go now!
23. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT No pics but have emailed the seller for some as confirmation. Too good to be true or a genuine bargain? I've been after one of these for a while (at the right price ) and jumped on this one straight away, even though i don't usually buy stuff with no pictures. Paid by Paypal anyways in case anything goes awry Does this look ok or a bit dodgy? Hopefully i've cured a long standing GAS problem, at worst i've lost the £20 postage fee Cheers Steve EDIT: Heard back from the seller, seems pretty genuine and sent me some pictures of the bass. There's a scuff mark on the back but other than that it looks sweet, i have a strange appreciation for well used Warwicks anyways! I'm assuming this is active 2band based on the fact it has 4 knobs? If not, what do they do? Ta
24. That is one shoddy pickup rout. I think i could do better with a chisel!
