1. Some Superflys were poorly made (mine included). It's actually been fine since i took all the extra casing off (looks better too) but i still wouldn't trust it to gig with. I think the Little Giant or one of the new Hartkes would be better. Also look at Peavey stuff, can't go wrong with Peavey gear but it's not lightweight
2. Bloomin 'eck! Am i right in counting 9 strings on your avatar bass Matte_black? EDIT Or actually 10?
3. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-Bass-Guitar-...id=p3286.c0.m14 Dunno how much these usually go for, think it's a little more than this though? Also check out this beast! 4. I had the Hartke HA3000. I used it with the VX1508 and then the VX215 I thought it was a cracking little amp, very hard to make it sound bad! In a lot of ways i preferred it to the HA5500 i replaced it with, the eq contour knobs are brilliant. Just past the middle was the perfect Billy Gould tone! EDIT: And no need to be depressed, you may have just found your ideal rig (which can be picked up for small money to boot!)
5. Hi Les! Good to have some more folk from the NW on here. I'm in Blackpool and there's quite a few from the mighty Lancashire on here
6. That's a great price! I think my Corvette 4er was £598 new!

Kev's Feedback

Changed his name from Bassmankev not so long ago, maybe his feedback threads could be merged? Bought a few bits and bobs off Kev recently, all arrived super quick, seems like a nice bloke!
9. Please take note of the bass matching the bedsheets. That's attention to detail for ya!
10.
.............. and curing the rattling endpin too, with a tent-pole spring! I'm going to keep a look out for a used Stagg and have it converted to high-C too
How did he get the endpin out? Mine has just started to rattle a bit so could do with fixing it but can't get the bolldy thing out! Also someone off here was selling a black Stagg for £240 if you're interested? Pm me if so and i'll have a look through my pms Ta Steve
11. Gives me an idea........ When i hit middle age i'm gonna custom order a bass with a huuuuuge belly scoop (it'll be 5mm thick in the middle, enough to cover my eventual gargantuan belly), reckon i could patent the idea and make a fortune!
12. There's some better pics on the for sale thread (finally got round to doing one), including a close-up of the bridge if that would give you more of an idea
13. Think i recognise this one! My first fretless, it's an extremely nice bass and the pickups sound fantastic. If anyone wants a fretless with loads of mwah then look no further, it does an excellent Jaco impression In fact if i sell the Cort in time i might have this back!
14. Dunno, if it's genuinely up for sale again then the original buyer missed a bargain. I've been keeping my eye out for the other one too, can't believe Zoots are selling for this sort of money, it's crazy! Especially this re-listed one, that's a ton of bass for the money
15. It's back! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Zoot-4string-Custom-...id=p3286.c0.m14
16. I use Schallers, had the Dunlop ones for a while but they worked loose on both my basses and i thought they were quite clumsy. You may need to trim the button hole on your strap a little if it's a thick leather one At the start of every gig i check the nut is tight on the Schaller as i use a really thick leather strap, otherwise they're maintenance free
17. Hi all Not had this long, bought it to use as a cheap backup but it's a bit nice for that (pretty much showroom condition) and i bought a really cheap Aria which fills that purpose so this has to go! It's one of the Mystic Ice Crazer finishes (i think) but this one is a bit more tasteful, think gold leaf on black background. The body is Luthite, neck is Maple and fingerboard is Ebanol All the hardware is heavy duty (particularly the bridge assembly) and finished in a sort of brushed chrome According to t'internet the electronics are as follows: Bartolini AMK1-4/F Pickup Bartolini MK-2 EQ / 1V,3-band eq There is also a slap switch which switches an eq contour in/out. The slap switch and eq are both adjustable via 2 trim pots on the backplate It has a brand new set of Elites (130 - 45) on it, i also have another set of these for £15 if anyone fancies This bass cost me £172 inc. shipping, plus i had to buy strings for it (came with 4 rusty ones on!) so in total it was £187 I'd like £170 plus p+p, think that's a pretty fair price EDIT: Collection from Blackpool is fine, you're welcome to come try it out. The string spacing is about 17mm
18. Looks like 17mm, i took it from the centre of the saddle (think that's the correct way to do it!)
19. It's not as widely spaced as a typical 4 but is easily manageable. I don't play 5s but adapted pretty quickly, i found it easier than the Streamer 5 i had and about the same as my OLP. It's slaps well, in fact it slaps better than the other 5s i've had. I'll have a look tonight when i get in and will try to measure the spacing
20.
I've dealt with GAK before, and IIRC they charged me an absolute fortune for delivery because it was to Northern Ireland........
Should be the same as normal UK mail, all the companies we deal with at work charge the same rate for postage to Northern Ireland. Same as Channel Islands and Isle of Wight etc. A bit underhand IMO, i hate getting overcharged for postage! Another +1 for ringing up to check stock levels. When i was buying a Squier Jazz i rang around all the internet shops advertising the one i wanted, none had it in stock. Ended up getting it from Thomann
21. It's in red though... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FENDER-SQUIRE-P-BASS...id=p3286.c0.m14
22. Have you tried lighter cabs that don't have neo speakers in? My Schroeder just has standard paper cones and it does the old-school rig sound down to a tee. Still pretty small and lightweight too
....... However, given its taken GK about 18 years since the SWR SM400 to release a hybrid head onto the market, I'm not going to be holding my breath.
Hopefully getting one of these in the next few days, fired it up yesterday and it sounded incredible!
