I have an ebanol/ebonol (both spellings seem to be used!) board on my fretless and it sounds very natural. As said rounds churned it up a bit but it's a lot more hard-wearing than rosewood, even though i preferred the latter as a playing surface I'd say go for it, it's the best cheap alternative and looks good too

Gear4music do cheap strings for about £20, i'l be sticking some on my stagg next week so I'll let you know how I get on with them

Here's my lowly Corvette, a reliable workhorse for many years and still sounds fantastic. Hopefully to be joined by another Warwick in the not too distant future

Around the £300 mark i think? How much are they new now? When i was looking they could be had for £400 online

Mine goes through a Schroeder 1212r and it can do clean and hifi but also dirties up nicely with my MXR. With the Schroeder you can whack loads of low mids through it for a grittier rock tone.

If i lived up 4 flights of stairs i'd sell my bass gear and take up the harmonica! Seriously, Markbass/Genz and a single efficient lightweight cab that can handle plenty of lows (Barefaced etc.) I'd invest in a decent quality bag for your head and leads too. Being able to load your gear in/out in one trip is a great feeling!

I'd imagine the programmable Sansamp would be a decent option as you can save settings (3 i think?) I use an MXR M80 for OD, clean boost/eq and DI. I then use a ZVEX Mastotron for fuzzier moments. I recently used this with the M80 and it sounds brilliant, like a 3rd pedal in it's own right (in fact it's the best sound i've had!). Tried this before my MXR M80 last night, they sounded excellent together! Couldn't have imagined a better combination of grind and all out fuzz. Amazingly it sounded controlled and clear too! I'm thinking this pedal is definitely a keeper, it handles everything i throw at it and takes up a third of the pedalboard space of my Big Muff

I have a Mighty Mite P neck on my bitsa Jazz and it's very nice. Only mwahs when i tell it to! Not sure i prefer the ebanol to wood, it's marking up already and i was told it would last ages. Sounds very natural though

Going a bit (more) OT, but just to put things into perspective: We did a wedding recently for £500. Turned up, set up, easy. DJ walks in and asks straight away if he can use our PA. We say no so he uses the hotels rig. After messing about with crackly leads (all through the house PA, so loads of loud popping and generally not-very-pleasant sounds, for about half an hour he asks us to cut our soundcheck short so he can continue to mess about. Eventually, as guests were starting to arrive, our guitarist (professional sound engineer) had to help him set his CD player up as he didn't know what he was doing. Later found out he "earnt" £300, couldn't even be arsed to bring his own PA Think we're in the wrong trade?
