1. I love my Corvette, nothing wrong with the cheaper ranges. Very well made too, it cost me under £600 new and has paid for itself and then some. The only things to watch out for are the jack socket and the push/pull volume pot, other than that it's put up with years of gigging abuse
2. Bought Rich's rather good Warwick Pedalboard, top bloke Thanks again! Steve
3.
I work in Morecambe at the mo and suspect there's only one music shop. Presumably he bought it 2nd hand? Interesting Maybe they have a Fender J bass in stock with a Tele style neck?
Promenade Music? They were brilliant when i was trying to get parts for my Warwick, really nice bunch of guys. I don't think they'd pull a con like that, probably just an honest mistake. They gave me parts at cost because they'd lost them (Warwick sent them inside a Rockcase which they had sold, so they had to trace the buyer to get my part!)
4. Mine used to cut out every so often, happened a couple of times during a practice although was always ok afterwards Check something inside hasn't worked loose. These were so poorly built that the screws can work loose with the vibration of the amp, used to happen all the time on mine and i had to take an allen key to practice to tighten them all up afterwards! I solved it by buying a new amp and relegating the Ashdown to bedroom amp status
5. Remember, a mistake isn't a mistake if you cover it up well! I'm sometimes the king of balls-ups, i've just got really good at making them into fills. Also do not ever stop playing, even if you make a huge gaff, most people won't even notice if you just carry on playing. Scowling at the drummer in an obvious manner helps too And don't get too p1ssed, we used to get hammered at gigs and it showed
6. +1 for the MXR M80, blends with your signal so you can keep the low end and still get silly with the gain! It has 2 pedals, one for the effect eq section and another for the OD (you have to have both on for the OD to work). I set mine up so i can use it as a clean boost/eq switch and also a distortion pedal so it's very handy It also functions as a DI box too! Oh and if you want class fuzz without Wooly Mammoth prices check out the ZVEX Mastotron (there was a thread about it recently). I paid £76 posted for mine and it rules. I currently use just these two pedals for OD/fuzz, both keep the low end and sound the tits!

Kustom

I was looking at a Kustom Groove head a while ago, absolute monster of an amp. I heard so many good things about it but that's their higher end stuff. If it's a cheapy there may be quality control issues, i remember being distinctly unimpressed by a guitar combo of theirs i heard while ago
8. Agreed, that's a great price! Need to sell my Warmoth...
9. So the bolt-on version goes for £600, his has a crack in the back..... Where did he get a grand from?
10.
This might be me going a bit crazy, but the shape of the Zender looks like a very similar shape to the bass in your avatar…
Blasphemy!
11. I know ya said no trades but you are after a 2 band eq..... How about a PX for a 2 band Tonepump? It's the circuit and bass/treble pots so you'd have to find your own volume pots. Got 4 knobs for it though
12. +1 on the Planet Waves, although replacing the jack is probably the better solution in the long run
13. The first one is the nicest IMO, bit more like my idea of a Warwick I don't like the Zender or the Cort
14.
woolly mammoth is a lot of money.... 350 dollars i think. Tried to get one but with all the shipping and taxes was a fair bit.
I have a ZVEX Mastotron which was £76 new, posted. It's meant to be quite similar to the Wooly Mammoth i hear. Does really low fuzzed up sounds, i'd imagine it would work well with a Synth pedal
15. I'd swap the word "conversion" for "abomination". Looked like a really nice bass too
16.
It went for £125. Yesterday a really nice Ashdown ABM 15" cab went for £50. I think you need to be really careful putting stuff on eBay at the moment, especially when you insist on collection only.
+1 I was looking at a shorty bass for my nephew a few months back. An encore one went for £9 as it was collection only from Sheffield. I asked the seller if he'd post but he couldn't be bothered so you takes your chances
17. AFAIK it's the standard Warmoth neck dimensions, have a looksee here: http://www.warmoth.com/Bass/Necks/StandardNecks.aspx It actually feels a little chunkier than the other Jazzes i've had, if you have a look at reviews for Warmoth Jazzes it seems to be quite a common opinion. And weighty means pretty darn heavy, i'll get a proper weight of it soon as i'm borrowing some digital scales to weigh a cab for postage. I'd guess 10lb or so. It's a big solid chunk of Walnut and Warmoth necks have the steel support rods (http://www.warmoth.com/Bass/Necks/BassNeckAnatomy.aspx) so it was never going to be a lightweight! Steve
18. I think the Moon has a switchable eq, whether that's on/off or just a different mid-sweep i dunno but i assumed it was on/off A lot of Warwicks have a push/pull on the volume control to bypass the active circuit EDIT: Incidentally the bass in my avatar has an active bypass switch and the sound is fantastic, it gets an airing every so often. I reckon i could live easily with it bypassed all the time. The one on my Warwick less so, but it still has it's uses
19. £500-£800 you say? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=50018 or http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=47434
20. That's actually really nice, the shape seems more suited to bass too! Maybe Brian was a closet bass hero relegated to guitar by Deacy's outrageous shorts............
21. There's a very nice Bass Collection in the for sale section, at that price you'd have money left over for another too If you wanted to stretch your budget then this is what i'd have a look at: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=47434 If i were you i'd just keep looking at the for sale section on here, it's always full of bargains at every price range and it's nice and safe
22. I heard Warwick keep their bees next to a stereo that pumps out Funkadelic 24 hours a day, that's why it's so expensive! I've used normal beeswax ever since my Warwick Wax ran out (well, up until the bass became too grubby to warrant it) and never had any problems
23. I actually blew the sound board on my laptop recently so i'm computing in silence! I won't be able to do any sound samples until i either find a cheap spares/repairs laptop to fix it or sort my external audio interface out. I can try to do it on my mate's PC but i think his Line 6 is broken too. The joys of computing! That's a very nice Warmoth, what are those pickups? Steve
24. I had a Squier, sold it recently. It was a Standard Jazz, very well made and the pickups were surprisingly good. I wouldn't generalise on which are better, all three series you mention invariably have some good and some lesser examples Mine beat every Mex Fender i tried (i originally set out to buy a MIM Jazz but ended up with the Squier!), plus you can pick the Standard series up for less money. I sold mine for £120 including a battered ABS case, was one of the walnut satin ones too
