Hi all Due to a bit of double booking confusion between me and our drummer (it's always his fault though) i could do with finding a replacement band for an annual ball. It's an army do so not too formal (they booked us cos we aren't the usual old wedding band codgers), should be a riot. One we were looking forward to playing but it seems our drummer had booked us in for a civil partnership function so meh Possibility of follow up gigs too if they like ya. It's 18-50s so a variety of material would be ideal, we do older 60s/70s, a bit of TRex and Beatles, then more modern stuff later on (Kings of Leon, Killers etc.) Any takers? Pm me with details and i'll pass them on Cheers! Steve On the 11th July (IIRC) btw, i'll get that checked soon as!

Give Prosebass on here a shout if you haven't found a builder yet. I also hear Wizard do custom wound pickups (hopefully someone will clarify that!)

It happened to me once during a gig. Luckily both my stage basses have a passive switch (idiot proof!) so no major drama. I get GP batteries on discount if i buy a box, unfortunately taking a box of batteries to a rehearsal attracts the attention of your guitarist who after seeing it will never ever buy a battery again knowing he can just scrounge off you!
What a coincidence! I have a slab of walnut and a plank of pau ferro waiting to be turned into a bass. Cool to get an idea of what it might look like when it's done, cheers for that
I saw another on a Warmoth gallery site pretty much identical to mine except for an unlined Ebony fingerboard. I actually thought mine looked nicer with the Pau Ferro board, keeps the uniform colours and all that. I think it's a very attractive and simple combination of woods, Pau Ferro is esp. nice IMO. -

Er... not really. I have been offered a 90s Warwick for this, also another bass which sold on here for around £600. Also a higher end Cort 6er amongst others I stated £800 as the NEW price, not what i expect. I think £450+ is reasonable for this bass Don't agree with breaking it for parts either. The Warmoth necks i've seen on here in the last few months have been on a while, struggling to make over £100 and not many people have money to spare. I'm in no rush to sell it, so was wondering if others on here fancied a trade. I think more folk than you might imagine would part with a Warwick for this given the sums they exchange hands for now Steve -

Not usually a fan of singlecuts but that look superb. Want one! Like the middle fretboard from the previous pic too. Getting GAS now....
Yeah it was for me too. I had one of their earlier models as my main gigging bass for a year or so and it didn't behave well at all on the strap. Sounded beautiful though, plugged or unplugged. Got some great recordings out of it.
Was it you who put the youtube video up with the Godin in? If so that sounded smooooooth!

I use a Diago pedalboard which is very durable (should be it weighs quite a bit) They do one that is the size of a guitar case if you've got a lot of pedals but they do custom builds too

I bought my Zoot second hand as a way to get an exceptionally well-made bass for little cash. I tried a few Fenders but would never have bought them as they weren't better than my Squier (it had Barts in at the time), the Mex ones weren't as good as the Squier by quite a long shot I buy basses that suit my playing style which look good that i can afford. I'm happy with a nice Jazz or a cheaper Warwick. However i think if i wanted a new Jazz bass i'd give Prosebass a call, certainly looks like he puts more pride into his work than a lot of bigger manufacturers. I've seen a fair bit of cost cutting on Fender stuff and it's put me off the brand. Not acceptable on a £700+ instrument IMO

Bought my Owen Bass Gremlin a while back, cool guy to deal with. Sorry for not leaving feedback sooner! If i had as many braincells as pedals i'd be ok...

They were £30 plus £10 postage when i got them (last autumn). Delberthot has one and he likes it so maybe i'm just too picky! They do go horizontal after re-attaching the top half. Otherwise it nods forward which doesn't look safe, especially with a grands worth of bass gear sitting on top of it!

How about this? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GUITAR-COMBO-AMP-STA...%3A1|240%3A1318 I've got a Giraffe stand, it adjusts (after unbolting the top and fixing it the other way round) so it is horizontal. I used it with my Schroeder 1212r and LMII and it did the job. You do lose a bit of bass from the lack of floor rumble, obviously this varies depending on the stage, however i like feeling the bass that way. I stopped using it, just have the tilted speaker pointing up at me now. I may use it in the future on bigger stages but it's almost redundant now. Also the tilt mechanism is only secured on one side so all the weight is on that which i don't like too much. Another thing to be aware of is the height can only be adjusted by removing two bolts and re-fixing the stand so you have to take the cab off to change the height. Apart from that it's the best one i've found as it's still pretty sturdy.Got it off ebay for £40 delivered but can't see any on there now. It's this one though: http://www.giraffemusicstands.co.uk/?page=...ories&id=41
No but build quality and tone can be..... Cheap basses are great in the bedroom, get them cranked and they sound horrid....and they break, bad pots, bad jacks, bad fretwork, bad necks...bad nut,bad bad bad BAD!! Things have got better in recent years with far eastern made instruments!
The one i tried had the same electrics as my Warwick (although don't think it had the push pull volume and didn't have the stacked eq pots) The only issue i had with mine was the push/pull pot started cutting out (had to retire it for a few weeks). Replaced this and it's been fine since. Have to say it is a battle weary bass, gigged with it at lease once a week (sometimes 3 or 4 if i was depping) and it got left in a case in the van for days. Probably contributed to the pot cutting out! The fit and finish on the Rockbass i tried was very tidy, just didn't get on with the finish on the neck as it didn't feel as nice as the German one

I played the active 4 stringer before i bought my Warwick, it sold the German made one to me! Fantastic sound and the neck was really nice (my introduction to Warwick necks too). I bought the German made Warwick because at the time there was a price difference of less than £200 so it was a no-brainer. Keep an eye out on eBay, the German ones go for £300+. I found an German FNA Corvette (one MM pickup) that went for under £280 the other week. EDIT: I found the neck pretty much the same as the German version. Pretty slim 'board but deep yet comfy neck profile. I didn't like my old Warwick 5er (a passive Streamer Standard, percursor to the Rockbass range), the 4 felt right for me. But then i do play like a girl!

You might need to rethink the power rating if your guitarist is noisy (sounds like he is if he's got a 150w amp!). 100w bass amps quickly get drowned out. There's usually some decent Ashdown/Hartke/Peavey gear in the for sale forum. It's a good idea to borrow an amp for a rehearsal to see if it can cut the mustard If you can stretch to a little more money then a whole load of better gear becomes available. This would suit ya for £300: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=43654 Got the option of sticking another cab in there too!
-
I suppose another LMII would be ok, but then i'm much more likely to spend the money on a bass!
-
I take an MXR M80 and and sometimes an Aphex Aural Exciter. Both have a decent DI and if my amp goes down mid song then there's still bass coming through the PA as the signal is taken straight from my bass. Don't think i could be bothered taking a backup amp to gigs, what's the point in downsizing if you're gonna take 2 rigs? I'm lazy and proud!

This is my Small Clone (EH 4600 Full Chorus), bought from Aphook (i think...) just before i bagged a Stereo Electric Mistress. Lovely chorus pedal for bass, real easy to use too with just one depth switch and a rate knob. Pretty much every sound is at least usable with some really lush chorus sounds. If i hadn't spied the SEM i'd be keeping it! I preferred this to most others in this price barcket as it sounds more natural and is built like a tank It has a few battle scars on the front but functions like a new pedal, just gave it a brief check and everything works. The back is covered in velcro but this will come off. The original rubber feet and battery cover are still with it. Also this comes with a lead to use it (and other pedals with "mini jack" DC sockets) with a regular power supply or power bank, so no worries about powering it. Comes in the original box too! I would like what i gave for it which was £30 delivered.

Try to source the Owen Bass Gremlin. Don't think you can get em anymore but they change hands on here for about £70. Very versatile pedals yet really easy to use, the best OD i've heard. Starting to regret selling mine now!
