Planet Waves Cables + Dunlop Strap Locks
lemmywinks replied to Musicman20's topic in Accessories and Misc
I have been using Planet Waves cables for about 3 years now, on the same set of 2 and they're like new. Also come with a loop of elastic attached you can hook round your strap button to prevent tugging on the lead which is genius! Excellent value for money Don't use the Dunlop straplocks anymore (i used the metal ones) as they don't stand up to gigging as well as the Schaller ones. They don't exactly fail but the ones on my Warwick are very hard to remove When you say plastic ones i assume you mean the ones you fit over your existing strap buttons? Do their job i suppose but you're best investing in a proper set of sturdy metal ones -
I played a cracking Yamaha in Frets Guitar Centre (spits) a while back, think they still have it. Was looking at it before buying my first fretless but was a bit over budget, had one too many strings and was a bit too modern looking for me. The low B was very defined though and it had a decent circuit in it Good string spacing too

What was your first bass and why did you start playing?
lemmywinks replied to damo200sx's topic in Bass Guitars
A Hohner B2 (i think) PBass copy. Ugly and pretty rubbish. £120 from Crack Converters, thought i'd got a bargain until i saw a pretty little Dean in a music shop, so i swapped the Hohner for a PC so i could do my school work on it (actually just played Football Glory and Doom but meh) Put me off Ps for years until i played a decent one, still old man's basses though........ -
As it's the USA one it's probably a bit more desirable than the Chinese stuff, but they're about £250 new. My housemate's selling his USA Kickback 15 for about £200 and that's mint (he gave up playing about a week after buying an entire new rig!) I'd say £150+ ??? Cracking little amps btw, i did a small gig with my mate's with no PA and didn't need to push it

LAKWOOD FRETLESS BASS - GREAT SPEC - PRO SETUP
lemmywinks replied to bassatnight's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Sounds interesting, let me know when you are willing to flog it... I am just looking for a toe-in-the-water fretless so don't want to fork out too much, just in case we don't get on ;-) Cheers, Steve.
It's available now, i'll get some pictures taken next time my missus is at mine (i haven't got a decent camera). When i got it the neck needed loosening and pulling a bit so it was aligned correctly (something you have to do on a lot of old Fenders) and the neck pickup rout is a little sloppy. Also the tone pot feels clunky towards one part of it's travel but still works perfectly. This was my first fretless, i didn't wanna spend much but wanted something that looked cool. I was really impressed with it so i stuck with it and upgraded the pickups and pots. It sounds great, i'll get some clips done during the week Ta Steve -
Just played a private party at Bloomfield Road (home of the mighty Blackpool Football Club). Had the best onstage sound ever, the singer and drummer were using in-ear monitors and the room had fantastic acoustics so it was like listenind to a CD! Everything was crystal clear and the LMKII/Schroeder rig kicked out a ton of bassness without ever being pushed. Perhaps the best part of the night happened before we even unpacked our gear though. We got in the room and there was a singer/karaoke guy checking mic levels. We introduced ourselves and it was only after we'd been chatting for a bit that he realised he was at the wrong gig! He was meant to be doing a function the other side of town, so had to pack all his gear up and re load his car! Turns out he did the same gig the previous year and it was in this room so he'd just turned up and set his gear up without checking I tried not to laugh but, being incredibly immature, i absolutely pi$$ed myself! Ended up getting a few gigs out of it and the Hostess was really impressed with us, think we may soon become the "house band" at Bloomfield Road! (Anyone who's seen the half-staduim/construction site will know this is nothing to shout about!)

Didn't Damon Minchella have a big sell-off of all his gear a while ago? Seem to remember seeing him sneakily advertising an old Gretsch bass in Bass Player via a "vintage review" with a little for sale note at the end!

Been looking for something similar to that converter for a while to power my centre +ve big muff from my pedalboard. I was told i can't rewire it centre -ve as it will blow my power supply. Will this work?

LAKWOOD FRETLESS BASS - GREAT SPEC - PRO SETUP
lemmywinks replied to bassatnight's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I'll be selling my Jaco copy soon, USA Fender pickups and pots (and logo). Really nice player, my first fretless and only a bit of wear on the fingerboard (it's a de-fretted bass) Will be looking for £120? -
False economy i'm afraid! Some people report no problems but our old guitarist bought a whole bunch of behringer pedals. The tuner and the EQ failed in the first gig, the others shortly after IIRC.

Warwick Vampyre £500.00 on Preloved
lemmywinks replied to 2x18's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Does the £500 include shipping to the Phillipines then? -
The mechanism on the Hercules has been known to fail.
Yep. Mine failed after 3 gigs. One side grabs, the other just stays in the same place so i have to angle my bass out. Still using it a year later though so it's not a massive issue and the bass is still as safe as can be (clumsy drunken shenanigans permitting)

Maybe he was just having an off day? Never had to contact him myself but all reports suggest he's a very amiable chap I remember when something i bought from the USA went missing in the post, the seller immediately sent a replacement at his own cost. That was a set of USA Fender Jazz pickups too!

Up to £115 with 11 hours to go? You're doin alright there! Might stick mine on ebay

My LMII cut out tonight so i'm in the market for a backup head. Our lead guitarist uses an Orange combo and it's awesome, so i might be persuaded. Will the colour clash with my Schroeder cab?
