I did buy one but got a message this morning saying the seller had just one in stock and it was faulty, they relisted with the item location in China so probably one of those with a fake UK address that ships express from overseas. Annoying but will ahve a look at that Sub Zero one, cheers! I also saw this one that apparently uses UHF for £40: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403107968206

Yeah, you don't have to carry all that big heavy stuff!

Just gone for the WS-90 for £47 delivered on eBay, thought it best to stay away from the 2.4g version dongles as one of our rehearsal rooms has a crazy amount of wifi stuff going on, not sure what sort of operation he's running in there but the first time we tested our XR18 there we could barely connect to it with one device using the built in router. Cheers guys, hopefully it makes my life a little easier and my ears feel the benefit of being on the other side of the room from the drum kit!

Weirdly enough I tested the Aklot again one earlier after fully charging the batteries again and it was a little better, still the odd dropout and weird sporadic inteference sounds on long notes. Was most reliable with my fretless (Duncan Designed pickups and Artec preamp) but still not 100%. Unplugged my mixing desk, laptop and moved my phone away from the area but made no difference. Tried it with my piezo equipped Sinsonido and got a huge loss of signal.. Batteries were fully charged prior to testing it previously so no idea really.

Nice one thanks, will have a look at that. My gigging basses are all active 5 strings. I did try the Aklot one with my only passive bass and it did the same thing but to a lesser extent (the odd crackle and dips in signal level), that has a DImarzio Model P in it so maybe that's still too much. May try and borrow a guitar off a mate to check it's not a faulty unit.

Looking for a dongle style wireless to use at rehearsals, won't be for gigging as I only need it so I can move away from the provided amp and our drummer at the rehearsal spaces we use, basically to make best use of space without trailing cables everywhere. Bought a cheap Aklot 2.4g unit as our guitarist uses one for the same purpose but it doesn't play particularly nicely with my gigging basses which are all active. Seen the WP-5G models which use 5.8g and are supposed to be ok from posts on TB but wondering if anybody here has experience. Is there anything out there or are the only usable options more expensive? I always gig with a cable and wired IEMs so will just be used at practice really.

Rather handily the trim pots for the pickups (and also the three jog wheels for the bass/treble frequencies) are accessible when the pre is installed so should be realtively pain free. Should just need a screwdriver to adjust them. I've just put an East Uni in my backup bass, it's pretty transformative but unfortunately I want one in every bass now.

Check the trim pots for the pickups aren't all the way down

Thomann micromix1 usb - as a headphone monitor
lemmywinks replied to Mottlefeeder's topic in Hardware & Accessories
Reminds me of the old Behringer Xenyx 302USB but with a mic preamp on the 2nd channel rather than just a line in, looks very handy. Can it be configured to use the second channel for audio playback over USB? -
Set of F style tuners for right handed 5 string bass, 4+1. Come with screws (one is mismatched but not particularly noticeable) and the bushings. These have 0.54"/13.9mm posts and and the bushing diameter/headstock hole size is 0.7"/18mm Top loading bridge, think the spacing is approx 16.5mm, No screws unfortunately. £13 for the lot with free delivery.

Probably the one nice bass tbh. I only use active basses with a mid sweep (and it needs to go pretty low) live and AFAIK the HB don't cater for that. I'd most likely pick 3 Harley Bentons with my choice of pickups and preamp over any standard passive USA Fender though, as long I got to play them first obviously. I love cheap basses, as long as an instrument has a neck/board profile I like and is well put together we're 90% of the way there, everything else can be changed.

Have some J bass hardware lying around doing nothing, no idea how I accumulate this stuff! Nice chunky bridge, think around 20mm spacing, no screws but a solid quality bridge. Set of EMG Select pickups from a MiK (Cort) Hohner Pro JJ, no screws or springs but they do have foam attached. Neck approx 191mm, bridge approx 194mm. Logo has long since worn off as tends to happen with these. Cheap tuners with bushes and screws 6 neck bolts with bushes Bell plate no screws Also have a couple of odd string trees spare which I'll include for free, no may be for guitar or thinner strings though.

When I first got my ZS10 the supplied large tips were really good, don't know if they've softened over time but they do tend to be a lot more difficult to get properly seated and sealed. The cheap Spinfit tips I got yesterday (mentioned in the main IEM thread) seem much better. Seal straight away and stay put.

Just got some cheap Spinfit CP100 tips for my KZ ZS10, on sale at £9.49 for two pairs delivered (large size) here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325357841077? Much better fit than stock tips, instant seal and don't fall out or work loose. Although they're for a smaller 4mm (ZS10 are 5mm I think?) diameter IEMs they push on fine with a little bit of encouragement and feel very secure.

I can barely get our keys player to veer away from stock patches let alone buy any equipment, it's only this year he's started plugging his keyboard into the PA without any prompting. This is one of the reasons I went with the XR18 as all cables are XLR and every input/aux is labelled on the big tablet, so no more "what cable do I use?" or "where do I plug this in?" questions directed at me! If you have keys, drums and bass guitar then you'll all be using the sub, the whole band benefits really as everything just sounds better. It's also a good audio learning experience for drummers if they can here someone else play their kit acoustically with the desk channels muted and then with everything going FoH, hopefully they realise spending a fortune on a new snare that sounds exactly the same as the old one but even louder is a fruitless exercise. They don't, but it's a nice thing to fantasise about.

We don't have a van, in fact nobody has a big car. I think the biggest car in our band is mine, a Fiat Qubo! Most gigs now we travel in 3 cars due to all living further away from each other than we used to. Not really doing high level gigs either, we still have to work around bingo and open the box. There's probably a ton of bands with medium to large PA flight cases, bulky boxes of cables/accessories and oversized tops which only ever get used for vocals, all needless bulk which takes up space and is a PITA to transport. We saved space on this stuff and can easily transport a compact active sub which one person can carry, the Thomann cable bag and G4M shallow rack bag have been great for reducing the physical size of our old kit.
-
I don't understand why bands aren't using a sub or full range tops regardless of their monitoring situation or whether they put bass through the PA. It's worth getting a sub purely to make the kick drum thump like a kick drum should. Doesn't matter how expensive the drum kit is or how good the drummer is, the acoustic kit still sounds like a wet fart compared to being properly eq'd and put through a half decent sub.

First port of call would be to send it back for repair if you like the pre I would think, he has quite a good repuatation for customer service.

I sold my Gen1 V7 5er after a shoulder injury, that thing was 11.6lb! Great bass though, a couple of mates have more recent ones which are much lighter than mine was. EDIT: The bass didn't cause the injury btw!
